"And why do you want to keep it as a pet?"
"Why not, isn't he just cute?"
He runs a frustrated hand across his face before fixing me with a gaze filled with both concern and fear.
"Sister, that is a hunter well know to never miss its prey, do I need to elaborate further?"
The wolf bares its teeth and growls at him and I rub the back of its ear calming it down.
"Don't listen to the big bully, he's just jealous."
"Sister, it wouldn't hurt for you to take things seriously for once."
"I do take things seriously but your concern over me is somewhat over the top."
"What do you mean over the top."
"To put it simply, it is as if you don't trust me."
"Trust?"
I let out a low sigh and look at him," Look, I appreciate that you deeply care about me but I need you to at least trust me and the decisions that I make..."
Black's eyebrow twitches but he simply nods urging me to go on. He listens to me keenly without interfering till am done.
"Sister, am sorry if I made you feel like I don't trust you."
I place my hand on his forearm and give it a light squeeze before letting go.
"Tell you what, how about I try to get along with this feral beast, hmm?"
"Really? You'd put aside the hatred you have for them and get along?""
"I didn't say I'd let go of my hatred, but for your sake, I'll temporarily let it go."
"Great! Thank you."
I leap into his arms and pull him into a tight bear hug. He lets out a surprised grunt and tumbles backwards before stabilizing his footing.
"I don't know what to do with you sister," he whispers and I chuckle softly.
He sets me down slowly and kneels before the wolf with his hand outstretched.
"Let's make a peaceful vow for now," he says and I smile.
"Miss Nine?"
I sit beside Black and put the wolf's paw on Black's open hand, "Don't look so scared, he's just making a temporary peace treaty between you two."
"There we go, all done, now if you'll excuse me."
He stands and disappears behind the door leaving me and the wolf.
"Master Black seems to dislike my presence here."
"Of course, who would love a white, six foot wolf who appears out of thin air and wants to be my escort?" I ask jokingly and its ears sadly droop over its head.
"I never knew humans bared such feelings."
"Ah~ I didn't mean anything by it, don't look so rejected. Your fur is so soft, what do you use to keep it like that?" I ask deliberately trying to change the topic.
"I shall try my utmost best to understand the human heart, this I promise you Miss Nine."
"Uh- that's not what I..."
He walks out of the door before I can say another word and I rub the back of my neck.
"I think he misunderstood my intentions, I just hope he doesn't do anything stupid."
Mind relentless, I walk out and head to the park. Strolling through the park calms my nerves a little and I seat on a bench, staring at the sky. I allow my mind to wander off to the events that have been occurring to me.
(Everything that has happened seems crazy. I won't believe it myself if I hadn't lived it.)
"Beautiful flowers for a beautiful lady?"
I shake my head and look at the kid before me.
"Oh? How much?"
"They are for you, that guy over there bought them for you."
I look from the black roses to the elegantly dressed man a few feet from me.
"For me?"
The kid nods, places the flowers on my lap and skips happily down the path. Not wanting to be rude, I carry the roses in my hand and walk towards the man.
"Thank you for the flowers, but, do I know you?"
A ghost of a smile spreads across the stranger's lips as his mesmerizing blood red eyes land on mine.
(Those eyes are so attractive, I don't want to look away.)
"Miss? Are you okay?"
I shake my head drawing out of my thoughts and I chuckle nervously.
"T- the f-flowers are beautiful."
"A beautiful bouquet for a beautiful lady. I have to say, you look lovely today."
His fingers brush across the nape of my neck and I gulp.
"Such fine measurements, nothing too bold or too rejected, you are a masterpiece."
His slender fingers trail from my neck up to my cheek as he tugs a loose strand of hair from my eyes.
"May I know your name?"
"N- Nine." I reply without thinking and the man chuckles, his voice enticing to the ears.
"Am Sly, pleasure to meet you Nine."
His hand falls from my face and I oddly find myself missing the cold touch of his fingers.
"My time is up, we shall meet again."
Before I can say another word, the guy briskly walks past me and disappears among the crowd. I stand by myself still fascinated by the guy. Pushing all thoughts aside, I look at the flowers in my hands and I smile. The door creaks open and I walk in humming. My behaviours seem to stir all kinds of emotions inside Black because he rushes towards me.
"What?"
"Did something happen?"
I remember my encounter with Sly and I unknowingly smile, Black eyes me curiously and I shake the thoughts aside and walk past him.
"Nothing happened, what's for dinner? Am starving."
"Where did you get the flowers sister?"
I decide to keep my encounter with Sly a secret.
"A secret admirer," I reply and Black raises his right brow.
"Secret admirer? Who is it?"
I slap my forehead and look at him," He's a secret admirer which means his identity is supposed to be a SECRET."
He rubs his chin lost in thought before looking back in my direction.
