Chapter 2 - Prologue Cont.

GLAVA KLAUS

"This is really becoming a thing with Nicholai and his band of spineless wolves, it took every ounce of self control in me not to ripe out Krzysztof's heart while he sat there speaking." Sambor said as they gathered in around the fire with me.

"You all sat there while that small boy ridiculed me." I said really angry, not even one of them could challenge him.

"But we were not expecting it to come from him, we were thinking Nicholai would be the one to fall for our plan as we've planed." Dante said as he judged that I was not happy from his countenance.

"Only Róz'a could speak up to defend my honour, you all need to prove yourself." I said turning around looking at each of them. I've used every tactics I could think of to buy, sway, threaten and manipulate them to my side.

"I think the better question is what should we do about this, Krzysztof can't be allowed to go unpunished, people needs to always be reminded of what happens when they cross the line." Viktor said quietly and everyone fell silent because they understood what that meant.

"Are we totally sure this is a route we'd really want to take?" Falko asked trying to get everyone to be reasonable, people consider him spineless but I liked that he loves to double check on everything.

"You always try to be the voice of reasoning." Dante said. "If I hadn't grown up with you, I would have thought you are trying to chicken out on us." he added.

"I'm glad then that you know better," Falko said and looked at each of them but particularly holding Viktor's stare the longest.

"Now we are at a cross road, what should we do?" Karl asked.

"Shut up!" Falko yelled at him,

"and why should he!" Viktor stood to challenge him.

"Because I said so," Falko said quietly and stood up. Everyone became silent and turned to look at me. Viktor and Falko are the two strongest wolves I'd ever seen, Falko was not someone you'd want to make an enemy of yet he was someone who seldom resort to violence while Viktor was a keg of gun powder waiting to be lit. Always ready to have a go at the slightest provocation.

"I have some alcohol, you can have some when both of you are done measuring whose manhood is bigger." Natasia my wife said as she walked in, sensing the atmosphere in the room at the moment with everyone slient and observing the intensity of the stare between both men.

"I think I'll have that alcohol now," Falko said smiling and everyone suddenly started laughing.

"Of course, alcohol calms the nerves." Dante said turning to Karl

"I thought it was the other way round" Róz'a replied.

"Back to the issue on ground, this season of peace needs to end and Nicholai has refused to accept any kind of fighting." Symon said as he downed a big cup.

"That's not the issue at hand Symon, punishing Krzysztof was the issue at hand." Sambor said turning to me for confirmation and I reluctantly agreed and nodded my head, when I did I saw Falko close his eyes slowly, I understood he was disappointed.

"I dare to say that Viktor should see to it that he is punished adequately." Sambor added just as Jakób came in.

"Took you so long," I said as he sat down.

"I wanted to leave in a hurry but I figured I should hear if Czàiya Vlade had anything else up his sleeve." Jakób, my mole in Nicholai Vlade camp said.

He sounded reasonable and I was impressed with his thoughtfulness. "So did you learn of anything new?" I asked.

He smiled and emptied a cup of alcohol that has been given to him before speaking. "Nothing, just listening to Krzysztof brag about putting you in your place and how he needed to bring you down from your high heavens."

"What other justification do we need before you all agree with me that someone needs to be taught a lesson and proper respect." Viktor said looking at all of them, "I know you all are too scared of what the repercussions would be for attacking a member of the council, so I'll spear your blushes and decide on a punishment worthy of the offense." and he left. They all took their leave one by one not, I guess unsure what Nicholai Vlade would do.

My wife Natasia offered me a cup and sat beside me, and we were both silent for a while. "My Love, this your scheming against Nicholai Vlade is wrong, not only is he an heir to the throne of Constantine Kane but it is rumored that he comes from an ancient bloodline, going back to the very first werewolves, and that bloodline carries a prophecy about them. I could be wrong but it use to be an open secret. There's more to this Nicholai Vlade, he may seem unassuming but he's a very dangerous man." She finally spoke jolting me back to reality.

"Those are palace joke, that man is nothing but an imposter whose only strength and advantage was having the nerve to woo Constantine's daughter and the poor girl fell for his charms. I should be the Czàiya by all right, my family had served the great Constantine Kane. My grandfather was next inline before Constantine exiled himself. I will be damn if I don't take what rightfully belongs to me." I replied in anger, stood up and went out.
