"He doesn't want me for Maoi because he believes that I am a bad influence on her daughter. I couldn't blame him for that, can I? He is a bastard who studies at Herondale High on top of being a gang leader, so he has every right to be worried."
"Did Maoi not even fight for you?" I asked, but he didn't answer. Or perhaps it would be right to say that he ignored me.
"I asked a question, Blaise Rafaelo," I said to gather his attention.
"She did not, and I can't blame her for that either, considering the kind of parents she has. And she didn't have to."
I snorted at that because I couldn't believe how he seemed defeated right now. "Then maybe she doesn't really love you after all, Blaise. Because if you really love someone, you will conquer the world for them. If you have to fight the whole world for that person, you will do it."
He smirked at that. "It's good that you have such beliefs, but not everyone is like you, Arya."
