Chapter 3 - Navigating the Hierarchies: Understanding the Ranks of Magicians and Swordsmen

In a run-down chamber, furnished with only a table, a solitary chair, a small window for ventilation, and a bed where reclined a youth with long, silken white hair. His facial features, though delicate, bore a trace of masculinity, strikingly reminiscent of Stefan. Save for the ivory hair, he could have been mistaken for Stefan himself.

After a quarter of an hour passed, the slumbering youth's brow furrowed, and he awoke abruptly. This was Stefan Raynott. His gaze darted around the unfamiliar surroundings, his body instinctively tensing at the realization of his unfamiliar whereabouts.

''Is anyone there?'' He asked nervously.

Nobody replied to him.

''Is anyone there? Can you tell me where is this?'' He shouted again.

'HELLO, HOST!!' This time, a voice replied to him.

''Who are you?'' asked Stefan.

As he looked around himself, he saw there was no one present around him. 'Then where did the voice come from?' He thought to himself.

''I am 'The Reborn Privilege System'. I was sent here to help you.'' The system replied.

"Why? How did I end up here? Where is this? And what is a SYSTEM? This isn't my body? I remember having burn marks on my hand from a childhood accident," Stefan questioned, examining his hand as he spoke to the system.

"Relax, Host! Allow me to address your inquiries one by one. I am a System, entities crafted by deities or powerful sorcerers to aid wounded or aggrieved souls. Let me illustrate; ordinarily, mastering basic magic might take a decade, but with the System, one can dispatch weak monsters (absorbing their life force, or XP, with the System) and swiftly acquire any skill."

"To clarify your confusion, you find yourself in an urban fantasy realm. Here, magicians and swordsmen exist, though they seldom reveal themselves to the public. They operate covertly to combat adversaries, specifically the monsters that emerge from rifts. Individuals here typically pursue either magical or martial paths throughout their lives. However, it's worth noting that most inhabitants are ordinary folk, and there exist mercenary units trained to dispatch low-level monsters. The populace is aware of the rifts' existence, each rift being categorized by its level and presenting in distinct colors whenever it manifests."

COLOR LEVEL

Black SSS

Violet SS

Blue A

Red B

Orange C

Yellow D

Skin E

White F

In this realm, it's routine for the populace to contend with rifts categorized as E and F level. However, tackling a Level D rift proves somewhat challenging, as it marks the upper limit of their capabilities. Those in positions of authority handle the more perilous rifts categorized as S, A, B, and C levels. Typically, both magicians and swordsmen join forces to confront these rifts, forming teams for optimal effectiveness.

"Why don't the higher-ups address the lower-level rifts as well?" Stefan inquired, puzzled.

"Because it allows ordinary individuals an opportunity to develop and transcend the limitations of their physical form. Every six months, the higher-ups organize a competition disguised as regular sparring. Only the top twenty victors, those who surpass their competitors, are aware of the true nature of the event. They are then whisked away by the higher-ups for rigorous training. After several years, they operate on behalf of the higher-ups, maintaining a low profile among ordinary folk."

Let me tell you about the ranks in which the magicians and the swordsmen are divided.
