"Haa… I'm so tired!" Elena sighed, her relief evident as she entered the hotel suite, designated for her and Yuchen that night.
She promptly kicked off her high heels, padding barefoot to the refrigerator in search of a refreshing drink. Tonight had been unexpectedly exhausting. Marriage, she mused, was indeed more draining than she had anticipated. Perhaps that's why people tended to only do it once.
Yuchen, mirroring her fatigue, loosened his bow tie, shed his suit jacket, and unbuttoned several buttons on his shirt. His face mirrored Elena's weariness. This was his first experience with the prolonged standing and constant socializing with so many guests. It drained him to the core
"Oh, and just so we're clear, you're sleeping on the sofa," Elena declared, eying Yuchen, who had settled himself against the couch.
Even though they had shared hotel rooms before, Elena felt a need to clarify their sleeping arrangements.
