Yuchen appeared somewhat perplexed when Elena responded to his "I love you" with a simple smile. Part of him had hoped for a reciprocal declaration, something like 'I love you too' or even a brief 'me too' to assure him of Elena's feelings.
Yet, Elena remained silent, offering only a smile.
Yuchen decided not to dwell on it too much, choosing to proceed as usual. Perhaps, he thought, Elena was simply overwhelmed with happiness at hearing those words and hadn't considered responding.
"So… what should we do today?" Yuchen asked gently. His hand was still stroking Elena's cheek which felt so soft in his hand.
He suggested the idea of going on a date outside, wanting to make the most of this Sunday, the first since expressing his feelings. Yuchen was eager to spend quality time with Elena.
Elena didn't respond immediately, relishing Yuchen's gentle touch. It felt comforting and pleasant.
