Chapter 18 - Missing pills, A small Argument and A Trip to an Optician

She released a heavy sigh as he closed the door on his way out. Strange enough, she was feeling bad she chased him out. It was nice having his company even though it didn't go as pleasant as expected.

She could still smell his rosewood scent all over her room and it was driving her crazy. She frowned and threw her head down on the dresser.

She questioned herself why she had decided to chase him out. If she hadn't done that, then maybe he would still be there with her, and they could have even gotten to know each other better.

Nope! That sounded cliché and pathetic.

Right now, her mind was in shambles of confused thoughts scattered across her head, and the only relief she needed now was her pills.

She dashed to the drawer where she kept it and pulled out everything she stashed there, but couldn't find it.

Her heart began hammering inside her chest.

She had to find it! They were the only things that kept her sane and stopped her from tipping over the edge from her anxiety, bouts of rage, confusion, and other things she needed emotional comfort from.

"Dove si trova {Where is it}?" she asked nervously to no one in particular.

She began searching the room desperately for the drugs. Throwing things out of the way, causing a mess... But still didn't find it.

She was even confused. Since her mother disappeared, she has been taking those drugs to help with her emotions. She bought ones that looked like candies so she could easily keep them without the fear of her father or anyone else ever finding out. And now it was stolen!

"No! It wasn't stolen. I must have kept it somewhere that I don't remember" she reasoned with herself. "Yes. That must be it!"

The thought of Don taking her drugs didn't even cross her mind. They looked like candies, stored in a candy jar and kept in a drawer he would not be interested in opening.

She took in a few deep breaths and released them. She had more on her mind than to worry about her drugs. She could find it later. What was troubling her was that her contact lenses were now blurry, and she didn't have the solution to moisturize them.

After freshening up, she went to her wardrobe and took out a case she brought along with her in case the need be. She opened it, took out her oval-shaped glasses, and wore them.

Her vision was restored even though her nose was paying the price. She looked at her reflection in distaste, but alas! She had no other choice.

Those had to do until she could go to her doctor for another contact lens.

The bodyguards Don had placed to watch her wouldn't let her leave unless Don gave them the order, and he wasn't at home.

She called him and explained everything to him. Thankfully, he agreed.

On her way out, she could hear voices coming from the sitting room. She turned in there and found Maddison and Camilla there.

"Oh hello, Brownie, it's so nice to see you again!" she said in a mocking voice.

"Mind your business, Anaya" Maddison warned without batting an eyelid at her, "What did I say wrong? It was just a harmless greeting"

"To hell with your greetings! I can't even forgive you after what you did to me the other day" she yelled. "Keep your forgiveness to yourself, it isn't needed. It's strange though. You still have the boldness to come back here after the lesson I taught you the other day"

"Oh shut up!" she lashed back and stood up. "I didn't do anything to you that day because Don was there. He isn't here to save you today, so you better watch how you speak to me"

"Camilla, dear, don't waste your precious time on her. You are better off than a whore like her"

"Ahia {Ouch}! Mrs. Maddison Smith. Haven't you heard that your words affect people a lot? I have feelings too you know. And if we want to talk about who the whore is here, a pointer wouldn't be needed to tell that it's definitely Camilla" Naya sneered.

"You little..." "Let's not be bitter here, Camilla. I and Don had only met once and he felt he loved me enough to want to get married to me" "You did something to him. I know it!"

"Of course you do. You pampered brats know everything except knowing your place. It's a natural character in the likes of you" Naya added sarcastically.

"I think it's time you and Mrs. Smith learn the bitter truth. Don loves me and not you, and he has proven that by consummating our marriage" she said provokingly.

How she loved seeing the heartbroken face on both their faces. She wished she could take a picture of them right then.

"Don't listen to her. She's lying, dear" Maddison soothed. Naya scoffed and rolled her eyes. "He is your son. Don't believe me? You can ask him yourself. I won't prove a thing to you two" she said and walked out of the sitting room leaving them both speechless and shocked.

She entered the backseat of one of Don's cars and told the driver to take her to her Manhattan Eye Specialists before they began driving.

"At least I'll be able to see Aunt Bianca again" she mused to herself as they drove off.
