Chapter 44 - Ch 44

"I see, I get the gist of the situation. If we managed to get the 'Light of Alakazam'. Victory is in our hands" Cael summarized.

"Yes, however, it is easier said than done. The magic item is lost, in the sense that our memories are erased of the magic item, we know it exists but don't know how it looks or functions. And to make matters worst, we don't know if the enemy has the magic artifact" Vaeri's reply confused Cael.

"Are you saying there is a possibility that the enemy used magic to collapse the island and made us believe he is using the light of Alakazam? "

"Precisely, if you used magic to stop the fall, the enemy could do the same. We will try to extract the information from the captives. We'll act after that. Meanwhile, please follow me "

"Okay," Cael followed the elf thinking about the interaction he had with Zidikle.

'There is something magical about that woman, I never expressed myself to others in the very first interaction, maybe it's her beauty? I always liked buffed women. Let's see what fate has in store for me'

They left the observation room and what Cael saw blow his mind up now that he's seeing everything closer.

The dense and large trees, the green scenery with the houses, and the golden lights. It felt like a fantasy.

Finally, Vaeri took him to a large tree with one huge building in it.

"This is the home of magicians. Our island is mostly comprised of warriors. So, you don't encounter many magicians. The magicians here also don't like combat. So, they stay away from us only occasionally maintaining the protective and observation spells on the island"

"I can understand them, I used to hole up in my workshop and do research for years"

"I see. So, all magicians are the same. Anyway, please follow me to the top floor. This tree contains the knowledge on magic, it is available to everyone who has an interest in magic, you must contact the tree and it gives you the required knowledge  "

There is no concept of books inside the tree house, branches are protruding from the tree trunk inside the house. One must hold on to it and wish for the magic they require.

'Man, I'm in heaven. Wish, I was born here instead of being born as a human on the surface '

Cael loved this place very much. There is also no authority. Magic is just a mundane concept. So, no one learns complex stuff but the spells which make their life convenient.

When the duo arrived at the top floor. Vaeri warned Cael.

"This is the place I said. The Arcane knowledge of Oziran. This is too much for any being to handle but this place has produced top-level magicians."

"Is this like forbidden knowledge?"

"Not really, everyone just stopped coming here because the chances of spiritual death are high. There is a safety mechanism if you feel like dying you can be ejected from the room. Okay, I don't like staying here much, just learn as much as you can and leave this place"

Vaeri vanished warning Cael once more before she left. Cael opened the door to the top floor and the moment he stepped in.

The surroundings became complete darkness.

In the complete darkness, there stood out multiple red markings glowing with power.

Even with his powerful clairvoyance, he couldn't see nor understand anything here.

Information began to enter his mind like crazy to the point that he felt his spirit begin to break physically from the knowledge.

At the same time, his Halo of resurrection began to heal him.

At one point, Cael felt like his consciousness has transcended its limits.

The damage to his spirit has stopped completely.

His perspective of magecraft has changed a lot.

"I have gained Arcane magic....28 magic circles that use energy to control phenomena. No, the symbols themselves have power, the energy is just a catalyst"

Cael felt his mind engraved with 28 unique magic circles. They are the basis of the Arcane Magic he gained.

Rather than the magus forming a connection with the root, the magic circles themselves have a connection to the root and he has inherited them.

"Huh?"

When he went through all the magic circles in his head, he found himself outside the room but now, there's nothing in front of him.

"I.... succeeded?"

Everything felt surreal to him, and all he could do is go to the place assigned to him and sleep.

While going to sleep, he could only think 'Am I even allowed on Age of Man now? I already made the Will of humanity my enemy. Now, I have Arcane magic that is certainly on the level of top Magecraft from Age of Gods. Why do I even care? Is this because of my contract with the Holy Grail? I have to find ways to other worlds. Hope they are no bitches like Alaya on there'

The next day when he woke up, he felt different but he didn't think much about it. He went out of his room and saw Zidikle waiting for him.

"Looks like you are up, Vaeri has summoned everyone, she gathered information from the captives," She asked him to follow her.

"Oh, Alright"

While they are going, Cael asked "Hey can I ask you something? Why do you have a demon's name while everyone here has an elven name?"

"I'm surprised you know about demon names, but yes. I'm half-ahmu. Ahmu are demon underlings when demons were still present. So, My name is demonic" Zidikle said without looking at him.

'Wait, how do I know her name is demonic? I never came across such knowledge ' Cael's thoughts are interrupted by Zidikle.

"Since you asked, it's my turn. I know magicians have weird aesthetics but why did you want a third eye suddenly? Is it a new type of magic?"

"Huh? What are you talking about?" Cael asked in a bewildered tone.

"Your third eye obviously, it's on your forehead. To be honest, I'm sort of scared just by looking at it" Zidikle said casually.

But Cael on the other hand touched his forehead and unconsciously sent his ichor into it.

His perception of the world changed instantly, the world appeared in a spherical shell with every event that happened and happening appearing in front of him. At the same time, he could comprehend it at an insanely fast rate.

It came to the point that he was overwhelmed by everything and began losing consciousness.

"Hey! Cael!!" Zidikle noticed that Cael is losing consciousness.

Cael who woke up from the shout still barely conscious cut off sending Ichor into the eye. But, he still lost consciousness.

.

.

.

"Urgh! My head hurts like hell"

"That's the first reaction of everyone who used the 'Eye of Enlightenment'. Still, to think that you are both Goddess' blessed and an Enlightened one. Your innate magical talent must be unmatched"

Cael heard a calming voice, his halo negated the charming effect allowing him to focus on the guy with long ears in front of him. Though,  He's more like a druid than an Elf.

"Eye of Enlightenment? Enlightened one? Is it the effect of Arcane magic?"

Cael put the words and the situation to guess the cause. His perception change happened twice after gaining Arcane magic.

The druid-looking man answered "Yes, those who gained Arcane magic will also gain the Eye of Enlightenment which grants you the ability to cast those magic circles with just your eye and see the boundaries"

"I understand, so what now, I have to train or something?"

"Haha, we are magicians, not warriors. You need no training, honestly, if you think you need to train, let's say you are not even eligible to get that in the first place"

The door opened Zidikle and Vaeri entered the room.

"Greetings, Great Sage, how is he now?"

The man smiled and said "He's completely alright, it's just a magical eye side effect. He should be alright from now on"

"Great sage?"

"He's the greatest healing magician we have. Great Sage is an honorary title" Zidikle expressed with great respect.

"Since my work is done. I will be taking my leave"

The Great Sage left. Cael, Vaeri, and Zidikle left in the room. Zidikle is the first to talk.

"Are you completely alright now?"

"Yes, I think I can control my third now. Just a second" Cael used Halo's concealment on his third eye, making it disappear from everyone's view but it is still present, only Cael himself can view it.

"Good Because we have a battle to win"

"Battle?"

Vaeri took the opportunity and explained the situation.

"The captives are not living beings, they are sentient magic spells, that collapse the island and teleport to us to give a warning for the battle"

"So, even if we didn't catch them. They would come for us anyway" Cael felt something is off with the situation.

"Yes, but I don't understand why is he going to such lengths. Didn't he want to rule? If he's just threatening us and using spells to control us. It is alright but his current actions will alert the Goddess and contradictory to his character"

Vaeri expressed her doubts.

Cael caught something odd from her and asked, "Character? So, you know him? Didn't you say he's a new magician?"

Vaeri didn't say anything for a while and then said "....He's one of the magicians from another island. His name is Haleth, he might have changed his appearance and faked his 'death' but I know him too well"

"Have you shared this news with others?" Zidikle asked.

"No, I don't want to taint his name. I feel like he's being controlled by someone. At first, it's just speculation but now he's not himself anymore."

"When does the battle start?"

"After 2 Triads"

'Triad? Hmm? It means roughly 10 years of Earth's time. So, The battle is after 2 decades. But for these elves, it's like a month or something in their commonsense'

Cael is not new to the word, previously when she explained about the history of Oziran. Vaeri used the same word.

"Alright, what is my role?"  Cael understood one thing in these islands. Magicians don't fight, warriors do.

"You should focus on Island's stability. There will be Aerial attacks, to protect Oziran. We will deal with the Enemy's army"

Cael agreed.  Vaeri left shortly, leaving Cael alone with Zidikle.
