The message is attached with a file in it. He stare at it for a long time before deciding to just close it and don't mind it. In his head, it's probably just a wrong sent message from a weird name company. He continue to wait there thinking that he probably need to leave after the doctor tells him about Star's diagnosis.
"Mr. Stanley? Patient 204 is waiting for you." The nurse yelled at the room where Star was in.
"I'm not Stanley but I'm the one who brought her in here." He said and the nurse gladly accepted him inside. Star slowly opened her eyes and she saw him talking to the nurse.
"She fainted because she probably overwork herself. She needs to rest here for a while without worrying anything or else she'll faint more and probably experience nose bleeds." The nurse said as she handed the medicines that Star needs to take. As the nurse left, Star tried getting up from the hospital bed as Nicholas just looked at her not knowing what to do.
"Pass me the glass, will you?" She asked as Nicholas quickly hands her the glass of water.
"How are you feeling?" He asked as she looked at him while drinking the water from the glass.
"What are you? My doctor now?" She said sarcastically rolling her eyes as she wiped the excess of the water from her cheeks.
"I'm trying to be kind here. You can at least try to accept it." He said also giving him an attitude.
"Thanks." She said in her attitude tone matching her fake smiling face as if she really did it to tease him.
"Whatever. Seriously... how are you?" He asked sitting beside her hospital bed. Checking her face for a flu but Star pushed his hand away.
"I'm fine. Where's Stanley?" She asked. Nicholas went silent for a whole 5 minutes not knowing what to say.
"He didn't come with me here, didn't he?" She asked again but Nicholas looked her in the eyes before saying...
"He came, he was just uh... in a meeting." He lied but Star just rolled her eyes and looked away.
"You're lying. I know you are." She said just chuckling which caused him to just stare at her for a long time admiring the happiness in her face.
"I miss that happy face." The word slipped out of his mouth which also caused her to go back to her serious face. The moment of silence came once again but this time, it seems like there's tension. Also a lot of questions from their past.
"What really happened to us?" He started the conversation. She just went to face him backwards not answering his question.
"Leave please." She said.
"But I-"
"LEAVE." She said gesturing to the door for him to get out. He was confused about everything. He didn't know why she has gone cold to her. They were also bestfriends... even closer when they were 17. A year of knowing each other. She would actually look for him everytime her brother would come home and with her emotions towards him now... it seems like she's trying to forget how close they were back then.
As he left the room, Stanley went running down the hallway looking for the room and he saw Nicholas sitting outside the room. Nicholas stood up as Stanley walked towards him.
"How's my sister?" He asked and Nicholas itched his nape.
"She was fine but she needs a rest from stress so the nurse suggested if she stay here for a while." Nicholas explained and Stanley tapped his back before going inside the room with him.
"You actually came here? I thought he was just joking." Star said facing them again.
"I didn't. He took you here because I went to a meeting.." Stanley said and he looked at her with an awkward smile.
"Thank you.." She said and nodded her head at her brother.
"I have to go now.. I have to go to lunch with my sister." Nicholas said which made the siblings look at him with a shocked expression in their faces.
"You're going to meet your sister? Which one?" Stanley asked.
"The youngest. She called me on the phone wanting to speak to me about things with our family. I don't blame her. I mean she was really young when I left.. She must've had a lot of questions about how things took to a pretty bad situation that her oldest brother have to leave." He said and with that, Star got their attention as she cleared her voice.
"I'm so happy that you're ready to face the past but I would be happy if I can meet your sister... The deal still stands when we were 17... I still want to meet them even though things between us is not the same as when we were minors." Star said with a reassuring smile on her face.
"When Star gets out of the hospital, I want you to tell your youngest sister that we have a dinner and we want to meet her as also your family." Stanley said and he nodded before walking to leave the room. He can't explain what he was feeling right now. He thought after a long time of not being close... Star would forget about the promise that they made when they were younger but I guess she didn't.
He walked out to the meeting place to find his little sister who's not so little now. She was quite tall or average for her age. He knew it was her because she was still the same sister from before. The bubbly and energetic one from their family.
"Nick! I'm here!" Nikki said waving her hands to gesture her place and Nicholas smiled at her. She's still a child even though she's older than before.
"How are you? I can't believe you want to meet up with me considering that I haven't seen you even in the funeral." Nicholas said as he hugged his sister.
"My foster mother didn't let me. I received a call from Noah... saying that mom died but my foster mother told me I can't go because we can't afford to travel but I know it's because she's just selfish.." Nikki said as she just chuckled after that to reassure that she was fine.
"Foster mother? None of them took care of you after I left?" Nicholas asked in his concern voice.
"When you left, anything actually messed up. Noah was always stressed.. Nathan and Nathalie mostly fight... I don't know what to do.. I am five and I'm prone to loud noises. The neighbor called child services and that same day... I was brought to another family's custody. The Horvers... They are nice but mom and dad got divorced... so Mr. Horver had a new girlfriend and she's awful..." She said and Nick just continue to listen to his sister's rant.
"You've been through a lot of things. I wish I was there for you." He said and she just smiled at him eating her ice cream.
"How are you and Star??" She asked which caused him to look at her confused.
"Star was the one who gave me your phone number or more like your telephone number and she sent me your schedule." She said and he was actually smiling. He knows he have a lot of catching up to do..
