Chapter 9 -   Chapter 9: Moonlit Night

Luke knew that the Chiek brothers were currently at a three-and-a-half-star level, and he felt that it would be challenging to take on Clear Sky, who was at level 60.

So he raised his level to 80.

At level 80, his Bloodline Enhancement: Wings of Time could be activated, shifting from dark to bright.

However, the rate of energy consumption increased, allowing him to exist for only 60 minutes.

When facing the Crazy Axe Gang dungeon, there might be a need to use Clear Sky at level 100. Thus, he had to carefully manage his time and avoid any unnecessary waste while dealing with the Chiek brothers.

Luke unsheathed his sword and swiftly appeared beside the Chiek brothers.

Frost enveloped his left blade, but he didn't strike yet. The sharp cold air surrounded the Chiek brothers.

Clear Sky's angelic right arm, even though covered by a black long-sleeved glove, couldn't hide the radiant white light bursting from it.

Due to the infusion of holy energy, the right blade ignited with white sacred flames.

Werewolves belonged to the category of evil creatures, and holy energy increased the damage inflicted on them by 50 percent.

With a graceful dual-blade dance, Clear Sky launched an attack on the Chiek brothers.

Only when they were approached did the Chiek brothers realize that they had greatly underestimated the seemingly delicate elf before them.

The damp air caused their bodies to condense dew, which turned to frost when hit by the cold air.

Bone-chilling.

The dual blades approached their vital points, especially the curved blade imbued with sacred flames, which struck fear into the Chiek brothers' hearts.

They knew that their werewolf bloodline was vulnerable to holy energy.

But... how could an elf wield sacred flames!

The impending threat stirred the Chiek brothers. As assassins, they were skilled in adapting to dangerous situations, unlike Ron, who didn't know how to handle crisis situations.

There was no time to dodge.

The synchronized brothers extended their hands, pushing each other away. The clash of their palms created a force that pushed them apart.

However, just as they thought they had avoided the incoming curved blade and prepared to transform, an inexplicable force pulled them back to their original positions.

What just happened?

The Chiek brothers had no idea.

The blades simultaneously cut through their chests.

The sacred flames ignited the evil blood, and Little Chiek let out a painful scream. The divine energy assaulted his mind, disrupting his control over his power. His body constantly shifted between human and werewolf forms, as he desperately tried to extinguish the holy flames. However, the flames only burned brighter.

Big Chiek was struck by the ice blade, freezing the wound and preventing blood from flowing out. The cold seeped into his body from the wound, hindering the powerful regenerative abilities of a werewolf.

Upon seeing his brother's pitiful state, Big Chiek immediately transformed into a werewolf.

Under the moonlit night, his fur radiated a black sheen, his eyes gleamed with a bloody hue, and his pale fangs extended from his mouth.

His enlarged form caused the wound on his chest to burst open, and a mix of ice and blood sprayed outward.

Ignoring his own injuries, he swung his wolf claws and launched an attack on Luke. He had to kill this elf as quickly as possible to take his brother for treatment.

But the elf disappeared from beneath his claws.

When she reappeared, she was already in the air. Her right arm erupted with a white glow, and the blade was enveloped in surging holy flames.

Faced with the descending blade imbued with sacred flames, Big Chiek desperately dodged, but his body was mysteriously pulled back to the original spot.

A slash.

A wolf's head rolled onto the ground.

Another slash, and a long ice blade plowed a deep mark into the ground, halting Little Chiek's screams.

His head rolled on the frost-covered ground.

Luke flipped in the air to regain his balance and landed on a nearby rooftop. Behind him, the window on the tavern door closed with a snap.

"Tyes!"

The window on the tavern door quickly opened.

"Mighty Miss Elf, how may Tyes be of service to you?"

"Handle the bodies for me. Shouldn't be a problem, right?"

"No problem, Miss. I will arrange the Chiek brothers' belongings for you to collect when you return. I apologize for any offense I have caused and humbly request your forgiveness."

Luke sheathed his sword and lowered Clear Sky's level back to 60.

"You haven't offended me... Thank you for your kind reminder. I have other matters to attend to. I leave this place in your hands."

"Please rest assured."

Luke leaped onto a nearby rooftop and ran towards the nearest teleportation anchor.

Inside the Assassin's Tavern.

The atmosphere became unusually lively with the arrival of the elf.

After all, it wasn't every day they could see such a beautiful elf, let alone one who had taken on the task of assassinating the Minotaur Demon Offspring.

This piqued the curiosity of the normally stoic assassins, and they couldn't help but gossip.

"We should have captured her. That way, we wouldn't have given that bull-headed fellow, Ju Mu, such a bargain."

"Exactly! A catch like her would surely fetch a hefty price."

"Mind your manners, gentlemen and ladies." The lizardman bartender tapped the counter. "My master does not appreciate conflicts among assassins. Since Miss Clear Sky has taken on a task here, according to her task level, she is recognized as a certified assassin of this tavern for one week. If she fails the task, she won't be accommodated here for a month. If any of you want to lay hands on Clear Sky, please wait for a week."

"A week? By then, who knows where she'll be sold."

At this moment, Tyes, the Evil Eye, entered with his eight tentacles.

Curious, the lizardman asked, "Tyes, how did you come down here?"

"I need someone to handle the Chiek brothers' bodies. They're still burning with holy flames, and I dare not touch them."

Upon hearing the news of the Chiek brothers' demise, everyone in the tavern was astonished.

While individually, the Chiek brothers might not be outstanding here, their synchronized teamwork was something no one wanted to face.

Furthermore, it was nighttime, and a full moon at that.

Who could have killed both of them on their home turf?

The lizardman bartender poured a drink for Tyes. He knew that the Evil Eye also belonged to the category of evil creatures and naturally had a fear of holy flames.

"Have a drink first, Tyes. Someone will handle the Chiek brothers' bodies for you. Do you know who killed them? Was it personal vengeance or an attack on our Assassin's Tavern?"

This was the answer everyone in the tavern wanted to know.

If it was an attack on the Assassin's Tavern, it would undoubtedly spark a war.

Tyes lifted the glass with his tentacles and downed all the contents in one gulp before speaking. "It was that female elf... You all have seen her. Based on your aesthetics, she's someone you'd all love to capture and sell. That's what the Chiek brothers thought too

. They waited for the elf outside the tavern, and now they've paid with their lives."

The lizardman asked in astonishment, "The elf killed the Chiek brothers! She... doesn't seem like a formidable character. Is she really that powerful?"

"Don't doubt my eyes... No, this time I truly misjudged. The Chiek brothers were killed by her without any resistance, just like slaughtering two pigs. She wields both ice and holy energy. She can teleport over short distances and even... manipulate time. She used time manipulation to bring the Chiek brothers back to a previous moment, then killed them one by one. Controlling space and time exacts a tremendous toll on her energy, especially time... How could her frail body provide such enormous energy?"

The entire tavern fell into silence.
