Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Dead People Don't Need to Know the Answer

Above Luke's head, a holy grail appeared, pouring down a liquid light that baptized her.

A fierce burst of divine light erupted from Luke's body.

The evil entities summoned by dark magic dissipated like cotton candy touched by water in the presence of the holy light.

Light banished the darkness.

Ghostly hands and the summoned venomous snake turned into wisps of smoke in the holy light.

The cursed incantation vanished like a fart, making no sound at all.

After the eruption, the holy light quickly receded, transforming into a white suit of armor that attached itself to Luke's body.

However, the armor only covered half of her body, creating a dualistic beauty against the clear sky.

Luke continued to advance, the clashing of armor plates producing a resounding sound, while the holy energy exerted pressure on Brenda.

Brenda had no idea that the intruder could use such rare divine energy. The rapid death of the Mad Axe Gang members and the dazzling display of Luke's frost abilities overshadowed the damage caused by the holy flames.

Facing an elf who possessed the power to counter her, Brenda had no choice but to make a desperate move.

The gemstones on her headband emitted a strong light, transforming into obsidian-like hues one by one.

Behind her, a black mist rose, and tendrils extended from the mist, entwining around Brenda.

She chanted her incantation.

The tendrils multiplied, tightening their grip on her.

Breathing became difficult, but Brenda persisted in her incantation.

Luke approached her, the holy flames solidifying into a radiant film on the blade of her right-handed cleaver.

Luke reinserted the curved blade in her left hand into its sheath and took out a vial of potion.

Crushing the vial, the airborne potion turned into dust upon contact with the air and floated toward the dark void.

"The Soul Devourer in the Shadows, this is not where you're meant to be, and I am not someone you can handle. Go back and enjoy the gift I've prepared for you in your cave. It should serve as compensation for your lost soul. If you obstruct my path again, I'll kill you."

As the powder dispersed into the dark mirror, the tendrils gradually loosened their grip on Brenda, retracting into the mirror.

Finally, the powder entered the mirror, and the black mirror closed, vanishing.

Brenda never expected that sacrificing her soul would make the fearsome Shadow Devourer retreat when faced with the elf.

Feeling helpless, she looked in terror at the elf adorned with the half-body armor.

Luke had an ethereal beauty, exuding solemnity and possessing a masculine temperament.

"Who are you exactly?" Brenda asked.

"A dead person doesn't need to know the answer," Luke replied.

Luke beheaded the weakened Brenda with a single swing of her blade.

Behind this door should be the Minotaur demon giant tree and the heart of the Red Dragon Neilkolon inside the safe.

Luke leveled up to 100.

Remaining time: five minutes and ten seconds...

A bit nervous, but killing a four-star hero should be enough.

Luke kicked the luxurious wooden door, teleporting inside.

The giant tree in the room was only halfway dressed in armor by the maidservant when the door was kicked open.

Seeing an elf wearing half-body armor, the giant tree pushed aside the maidservant and discarded the unfinished plate armor.

Grabbing a giant axe from the side, he interrogated the intruder, "What have you done to Brenda?"

Luke faced the giant tree without immediately attacking, but rather addressed the cowering maidservant in the corner, "Hey, miss... This is none of your concern. Get out!"

The maidservant immediately stood up and ran outside, letting out a cry of shock upon seeing Brenda's lifeless body lying outside the door.

"Master, Miss Brenda, she... she's dead..."

After speaking, the maidservant hurriedly left.

The giant tree looked at Luke with hatred, flames erupting from the two pairs of large horns on his head.

He wielded his double-headed battle axe and questioned, "Elf, who sent you? You're starting a war! You'll know the consequences of provoking the Mad Axe Gang."

Luke, delayed by the maidservant, faced the giant tree with a blade in hand.

Her slender figure seemed fragile compared to the giant tree.

The fusion reactor in her chest intensified, channeling immense energy throughout her body.

Visible patterns of pale green appeared on her cheek, no longer concealed by the half-face helmet, and her green eyes turned into ice crystals.

The giant tree felt the pressure from this formidable opponent and released a fiery shield. Three flaming shields revolved, surrounding him.

At that moment, the room blossomed with numerous ice flowers. In the extreme cold, the flame shields rapidly diminished.

They transformed into three flames that vanished with a crack.

Flames spewed from the giant tree's mouth.

As Luke advanced, a storm of wind and snow swept through the room, converging on the giant tree and suppressing the flames.

In a short time, the room was filled with large chunks of ice, turning it into an icy cave resembling the polar regions.

The giant tree finally realized the intruder's power. His fire attribute energy was but a flickering candle in the face of the raging storm.

But surrendering, becoming a lamb waiting to be slaughtered, was not the giant tree's survival strategy.

I've fought against those stronger than me before.

Life-or-death battles are determined by three factors: strength, ferocity, and luck.

And the fourth... battle intelligence.

The giant tree continued to approach the invading elf, enduring the penetrating cold, gathering all the strength in his body.

He swung his double-headed battle axe with both hands.

A swift and heavy blow!

The heavy battle axe emitted a whistling sound as it cut through the air, flames erupting from its blade.

The battle axe descended, but the elf's figure disappeared from its original position.

The giant tree immediately unleashed an explosive flame, generating a high-temperature shockwave.

Luke, who had teleported beside the giant tree, was pushed backward by the air current before plummeting down.

It turned out that the giant tree's axe strike shattered the floor, and the subsequent shockwave caused a large section of the floor to collapse downward.

The giant tree believed that once they reached the lower level, his lackeys would be able to come to his aid. Whether outnumbering the enemy or seizing the opportunity to escape, anything was better than facing such a powerful elf alone.

But...

Why was his falling body rising?

Why were the fragmented floor pieces also rising?

And they were reassembling, appearing intact once again!

Time!

She, she could control time!

Terrified, the giant tree looked to his side, where the air pressure generated by the explosive flames was now retracting.

The elf appeared beside him, swinging her blade—the blade's surface emanating a sacred white radiance.

A flash of the blade, and the giant tree felt everything spinning before tumbling to the ground.

He saw his body, headless.

He saw the eruption of the explosive flames that pushed the elf away.

He saw the floor breaking and collapsing once again.

Then, he saw nothing at all.
