In the void, a solitary soul hovered. In front of it, there was also a glowing blue plaque with golden characters describing the situation in which that soul found itself.
"What the hell is this?" I exclaimed as memories of the last hours of my life came back to haunt me. To summarize, I was now dead, let's just say that my death was far from honorable.
As I was dying, I contemplated my life and whether anything I did made sense in the end. Time would erase any memory of my existence, even the existence of the human race. Time was truly relentless, coming from someone who died at the age of 26. The irony was not lost on me.
I felt a sense of loneliness about to emerge, but it quickly subsided. It was indescribable; one moment it was there, and the next it was gone.
I knew this was happening so that I wouldn't go insane from my death and everything else. The plaque explained that this was normal. Most of my feelings would be suppressed so that I could make the best choices, at least from my perspective.
The plaque explained that I had been given a chance to live again, but the location and time would be randomly chosen, and I could make a wish. When I finished reading this part, three more floating plaques appeared.
The first one was about the location, and it seemed my luck was as terrible as ever because the chosen land was a "DC universe." Yes, you heard it right, it was a DC universe. Only God knows which earth it was. Yes... I am in deep trouble. Next was the plaque about the time, and it said "Mesozoic Era." After that, I started doubting life again, and I wasn't even alive yet.
After many sighs, curses, and deep breaths, I went to see the third plaque—the wish plaque. It described many forbidden wishes and various rules for my wish to be accepted. There were over a thousand lines here. Thankfully, time doesn't exist in this place because this is going to take forever.
After much contemplation, I decided to go with something simple yet powerful. I wished for the power of a protagonist from a fanfiction I read some time ago. I couldn't remember the exact name of that power, but just thinking about it was enough for the plaque to accept my wish. After that, my vision quickly faded to darkness.
