Damien and Kira sat in silence as they watched the fire slowly threaten to go out. Damien's eyes were closed as he tried to analyse what had happened to them earlier.
As far he knew, Rogues were either outcasts, exiled or banished werewolves or sometimes unsatisfied werewolves who preferred to roam freely and they don't exactly attack for no justifiable reason. Everything about the entire situation felt weird but he couldn't figure out what exactly was off about it.
He already figured out they were no ordinary wolves as the injury they inflicted still hurt like hell and strangely wasn't healing as fast as it should. As much as he didn't want to pay attention to it, he couldn't help it as he put the words Kira had said to him and weighed them side by side with the rogue attack.
He could attest to the fact that werewolves around the world were very much divided and instead of working together, they would rather kill themselves just to prove a point on which pack is better.
Maybe the moon goddess had a reason for making Kira his mate but there was no way he'd ever accept her. He just couldn't see himself doing it.
He had to admit though that he was starting to see her differently and he was grateful to her after she had saved him and taken care of him but he couldn't hurt Sheila. Kira might not be bad after all but Sheila was the one in his heart and Kira would never be able to replace her.
"The creatures cursed by the sun." He muttered very low.
Who were they? What do they do? What are they like? He wondered to himself, still trying to understand the entire concept of it all.
According to her, werewolves would become history and it will be by the hands of the creatures cursed by the sun, which is apparently the only name they had for whatever this thing was.
Although pack leaders always try to come together once in a while, it was obvious they didn't care much about themselves and wanted to lord over other packs.
"You said the story passed down to us concerning the reason for the hostility between our packs was a manipulated fight? Why do you think so?" He asked.
Kira, who was already lost in her thoughts, snapped out of it when she heard Damien's voice.
"Huh?" She asked, wanting him to repeat himself cause she hadn't been paying attention to him.
"You said the story passed down to us concerning the reason for the hostility between our packs was manipulated, why do you think so?" He repeated.
Kira swallowed the lump in her throat as she thought of how to explain why she thought so to him. After a few long seconds of thinking, she spoke.
"Let's take today's incident as an example, Damien. When Draco asks you what happened today in the forest, will you be able to explain the full details without missing any information?" She asked.
Damien was taken aback by her question. It wasn't that he didn't have an answer for it but because she might have a point.
"You would be able to but you won't be able to tell it as it is and when Draco tells another, he will say it as he understands and when another tells another, it changes and before you know it, the story is changed and people begin to think what they want or sometimes choose to manipulate the entire situation to suit their agendas." She explained.
Damien would have never expected Kira to be this smart with her explanations and she was eloquent as well. He would have never thought he'd find himself being intrigued by her choice of words and explanation and at that moment, he knew something had changed and his thoughts about her changed.
He couldn't explain how he felt but he felt something different for her and it definitely felt weird.
"You mean the stories we hear now are not false?" He asked.
"Of course, not completely. Behind every lie, there is always an atom of truth. This means, the story we hear is not entirely false but both packs could have changed it in a way that would favour them." She tells him.
"So what do we do? What's the next step in confirming all of this?" He asked.
She sighed deeply, "I am just as confused as you are but I feel like all I have to do is keep searching, keep looking out for answers and explanations and hopefully, I'll find them." She replied curtly.
"But..." She said getting his attention.
"We can at the very least end the entire concept of hate between both our packs because the bloodbath that is to come will end us all and we need to be united along with other packs so we can protect ourselves from whatever evil that's rearing its ugly head." She added.
Damien sighed. Getting his pack to accept the Redmoon pack as an ally would most definitely be difficult. Their hate for the Red Moon pack was so terrible and deep rooted considering the fact that they had lost the last open war that they had with them and had nothing but revenge in mind.
"That's gonna be pretty difficult Kira." He said truthfully. They were planning to go to war with the Redmoon pack sooner or later but now everything seems to be changing.
"And why is that so?" She asked him.
He took a deep breath, "Because before the revelation of you being my mate, we planned on going to war with your pack and finally putting an end to our long term rivalry." He confessed.
Kira swallowed the lump in her throat. She wasn't expecting it but she managed to keep her composure. "Wow!" She muttered.
"You already know my people don't like your people and vice versa and until they see everyone of your members down, they won't back off so easily." He explained.
"So what do we do?" It was now her turn to ask him that question.
"For the first time in my life, I do not know what to do." He replied truthfully.
They both sat back in silence after Damien's last statement. While Kira's mind wondered about the creatures cursed by the sun, Damien thought of what he could do to get his pack members to accept the Redmoon pack as allies.
"If I can do it then you can." Kira said after a while. Her voice was low but loud enough for him to hear.
"How? You have no idea how resentful they are towards you people." He replied.
For the first time in his life, he was asking someone for directions on how to go about a situation, something he never thought he'd do. He had always taken pride in the fact that he rarely ever runs out of ideas or solutions to his problems but as of right now, he couldn't think of anything in regards to dealing with his people and trying to convince them without proof that the enmity between both packs is highly unnecessary and uncalled for.
"If I was able to convince my pack members then you can. You'll definitely figure it out." She said to him confidently.
Her words held more meaning than she was letting out and he could tell but for some reason, he wanted her to help him with the situation.
"Teach me how to figure it out." He requested in a calm tone that sent a cold shiver down Kira's spine.
A jolt of electricity ran through her as her eyes bore his. They stared into each other's eyes and as much as they wanted to look away, neither of them could bring themselves to do it. It almost felt like there was an invisible magnet between them that made it difficult for them to look away from each other.
"I think we both need to get some sleep before dawn." Kira muttered in a low voice, trying her very best to control her thoughts.
"Yeah, I agree with you. We both definitely need to get some rest. Sleep well." Damien replied immediately, placing his head on his knees and drifting off to sleep.

Kira and Damien finally returned to the silvermoon headquarters. Draco who had expected them to return earlier was already worried sick about them to the point where he barely got any sleep as he stayed up all night waiting for them to return.
When he spotted them from afar, he felt nothing but relief seeing that they had come back alive although he could sense the awkward energy between them and could tell something had definitely happened.
"Well, thank goodness you two! Actually thought something had happened to you guys. Good to see you're both still alive." He greeted me with a smile on his face.
"Good to be alive. Thanks for looking out." Kira said while Damien simply nodded his head slightly.
Kira, who was tired and needed a bath, left for her room, excusing Damien and Draco.
"What happened?" Draco asked.
"A lot." Damien said short and simple, making Draco confused.
"A lot?" He asked in a questioning manner as his brows rose up.
"Yes. Turns out you were right though, the Redmoon pack was not behind the death of our men and now I cannot even guess who in the world is responsible but what I can tell you is, things are bound to fall apart if we don't do something about everything that's happening around us. There's trouble brewing around us bro and we need to be prepared."
