TEN DECADES EARLIER
The thunder cried out loudly whilst the heavy downpour graced the earth and the leaves danced in the direction of the wind.
"There will come a time when two packs of different origin will have to come together to unite our kind and fight against a greater force that will test the strength and the unity of all werewolves. If our kind do not take precaution and beware of the danger that looms, there will be an inevitable extinction as the evil grows day by day and they are waiting patiently for the right time to strike and destroy. The moon goddess pleads for her children to be warned as they are already right in front of them."
Lionel woke up panting heavily from his repetitive dream once again. After what the seer had told him a few days ago, he has been so restless and unable to sleep.
Her message kept replaying in his head over and over again and he hadn't stopped dreaming about it as her words still baffled him.
The wind blew into his room sending shivers down his spine. Today would be the third day of this constant raining and to Lionel, it almost felt as if it was a subtle warning about something big coming their way.
Danger lurked around and he could feel it but where and when was what he couldn't predict.
Although the weather was cold, he still could not help but sweat profusely.
"Alpha Lionel, you have a guest." Silas informed him and he frowned.
"By this time? Who is it?" Lionel asked.
"It's the Crystalmoon pack Alpha that's here to see you." Silas replied.
The skin between Lionel brows creased as he wondered what could have brought him all the way here by this time.
"Did he mention why?" He asked.
"No. He said he would speak to you directly when he meets with you." Silas responded.
"Okay. Tell him, I will be with him soon." Lionel instructed.
After a while, Lionel came out of his chambers to meet with the Alpha of the Crystalmoon pack. They both greeted themselves before Lionel offered him a seat and took a seat himself.
"What brought you here so early Alberto?" Lionel asked curiously.
Alberto cleared his throat before replying, "You will not believe what I am about to tell you Lionel. Something very big is about to happen and you and I are the only ones who can stop it." Alberto replied, peaking Lionel's curiosity.
"Something big? What is it?" He asked as he raised his brows in a questioning manner.
"Well, as you know, I have informants everywhere necessary and important information was brought to my notice earlier. It may come as a surprise to you but, the Redmoon pack is planning something evil that will lead to the destruction of many of our people and whatever it is, it's definitely not something we can handle on our own." Alberto said.
Lionel's eyes widened. "What do you mean? What is it they are planning? Where did you get from?" Lionel asked hurriedly.
Alberto leaned back on his chair as he sighed deeply. "Have you heard of the creatures cursed by the sun?" Alberto asked and Lionel frowned.
Of course, he had heard of them. The truth is, the spiritual mother, Madeline, had spoken to him about them.
"Well, yes, I have heard about them but what does any of that have to do with the Redmoon pack?" Lionel wondered.
"The Redmoon pack is harboring one of them according to my source and they plan to use whatever it is to attack and destroy many of us. According to what I heard, their original plan is to reduce the number of strong and powerful werewolves still roaming around so that they can take over each and every pack and lord over each and every one of us as they please." Alberto replied, emphasizing on every word.
Lionel had always wanted to know what the creatures cursed by the sun looked like and what exactly their powers were. He wondered if they were humans like them who shifted forms or if they were just animals with very strong instincts.
"Have you ever seen them?" Lionel asked Alberto.
"Unfortunately, I haven't but all I can do to you is that we must not let them have their way which is why I have come here to tell you this personally so you can be prepared for the worst." Alberto tells him.
Lionel took a deep breath. The words of the spiritual mother resurfaced in his memory.
'Could they really be the one? And the two packs coming together as one to stop is...could it be his pack and the Crystalmoon pack?' Lionel thought to himself.
"I need evidence to confirm what they have planned before my people and I take any action. I am not a man to go into a war without looking into things and be certain first. If they are indeed planning to do something so cruel, then we'll figure out how to stop them." Lionel suggested.
Alberto shook his head in complete disbelief.
"Lionel, I know you are a man with a good heart but I'm sorry to tell you that you'll have to think with your head and not your heart this time. The Redmoon pack is not to be trusted and it would be best if we took them out once and for all before it's too late." Alberto said.
Lionel sat in silence as he thought of Alberto's words. Everything Alberto was saying went in terms with everything the spiritual mother had told him and this really worried him. If this was the best way to bring peace, he would have to make a decision to end the Redmoon pack and make sure he protects his people.
"Fine. We will help but on a few conditions Alberto." Lionel replied after a few minutes of thinking.
"What are there?" Alberto asked.
"We won't be killing the Redmoon pack members because there are many who are innocent of this plot but we will take down their Alpha and his Luna, that way, their strongest man is down and they won't be able to carry out whatever it is they have planned." Lionel said.
Alberto was against the idea as he didn't wish to spare a soul but he decided to agree to it anyways.
******
Kira gasped as she read the line that described how the entire situation came around. She could not believe her eyes.
Many definitely didn't know of the Crystalmoon pack involvement in the war. In fact, the story they had heard was completely different other than the fact that the Silvermoon pack did kill their Alpha and Luna.
She was still trying to comprehend the information written on the papyrus by the old Alpha of the Silvermoon pack and honestly, it wasn't easy making out the words written on something this old but she had a pretty good vision so it made things easier for her. She wondered why no one from the pack had even thought of reading through this. Were they that nonchalant about everything around them? Did they really just abandon this place not for once bothering to take a look at the antics lying around? She thought to herself.
The Crystalmoon pack unfortunately, were already at the brink of extinction and she doubted she could ever hear the full story from their point of view but then again, she remembered there was Marianne who was a part member or rather, she's simply a bloodline. Marianne said something weird the other day concerning the packs and that did peak her interest a bit but she didn't really push further on whatever it meant, but now she'd definitely be doing just that.
She kept reading further.
"I, Alpha Lionel II of the Silvermoon pack together with Alpha Alberto of Crystalmoon pack have both joined hands together to end the reign of Redmoon pack. I sent my Beta, Silas, to go and kill the Alpha of the Redmoon pack and his Luna who I later found out was pregnant. After I ended up killing his Luna and unknowingly, his children, Silas came across some of the Crystalmoon pack wolves who were all waiting for him to leave so they could attack the Redmoon pack breaking the promise they had with us. Silas came back to report to me and before I could get back to them and save them, the Crystalmoon pack had successfully taken down some certain parts of the Redmoon pack. They had deceived and played me and my people and their next objective was to attack my people and I. Alberto had lied to me for his own selfish interest and I had foolishly fallen victim to his deceit."
Kira gasped. She placed her hands on her mouth as she finished reading the first paragraph. It wasn't the Silvermoon pack who had attacked them but it was the Crystalmoon pack who had done that but it was the silvermoon pack Beta at that time that had killed their Luna and her children.
She continued reading, "I invited Alberto for a meeting but he refused to meet with me so I went to him outraged by his insolence. He didn't show any remorse and he ended up revealing to me that his real aim was to take over every pack and lord over them. I couldn't possibly let that happen and I knew I had to stop it before it was too late and so I killed Alberto then and there. I went back to my pack and gathered all of my men and together we attacked and kill every living wolf of the Crystalmoon pack abs only a few were able to escape the mass murder."
"I knew I had committed a grave sin against the Redmoon pack and so I decided I would go to them and apologize for my wrong deed. To whoever finds this and takes their time to read it, please by all means avoid creating chaos and going to war. Make peace with everyone around you, for a time will come when we would all have to fight a greater force that will threaten our very existence.
I, Alpha Lionel have committed a grave sin against the Redmoon pack and I may or may not come back alive or but should incase I do not make it back alive, hold no grudges and make peace with my death for I have allowed myself to be manipulated therefore, endangering my people and putting the lives of the innocent members of the Redmoon pack in danger. I hope to be forgiven by my people and by the people that I have hurt. Let there be peace."
Tears rolled down Kira's cheek as she read his last words. She didn't know him but she could tell he was a man of peace and he truly wanted his people to live peacefully and harmoniously. If only the last ten decades had not been a bloodbath.
She took in a deep breath as she stood up on her feet. Now that the truth has been exposed to her, she refuses to live a life filled with hatred and the death of her own kind. She knew she couldn't protect everyone but if there's one thing she could do and was willing to do.
It's to give up her life trying. She will never allow any kind of creature no matter how dangerous to lay a hand on her people and ruin their existence even though she had no idea how they looked or what they were, she was most definitely prepared for the absolute worst.
