Chapter 6 - Entering the safe zone

Looking closely at the screen, Kuber noticed the title "Transmigrator." Did this mean that Flora came from another world? He also noticed her second title and class. Not only did she have a class, but she was already at level 3.

Flora sensed someone peeking at her and turned back to see who it was. Finding Kuber staring at her, she couldn't help but feel disappointed. However, Kuber was merely looking at the screen.

"Mr. Walton, why are you staring at me like that? Can I assist you with something?" she asked politely, trying to suppress her anger.

Startled by Flora's sudden question, Kuber snapped out of his deep thoughts. He realized he had been unconsciously staring at Flora's back.

"I apologize, Flora. I was looking at something else," Kuber replied nervously, aware of Flora's misunderstanding.

"You misunderstood, Flora. I was just thinking about how strong you are," he said, chuckling nervously. After all, he wasn't strong enough to withstand Flora's wrath.

Flora remained doubtful but accepted Kuber's excuse nonetheless. Choosing not to pursue the matter further, she nodded in approval.

Setting Flora's status aside, Kuber shifted his attention to Alvin and mentally thought "Status." Almost instantly, a screen similar to Flora's appeared in his mind.

[Level] – 2

[Name] – Alvin Lewis

[Title] – Seasoned Butler

[Lifespan] – 49/68 years

[Class] – None

[Unique skill] – Shadow Dive (A)

Kuber was once again stunned. He struggled to comprehend the current situation. It seemed that he could see these screens because of his unique skill, but he couldn't see their additional skills or attributes.

"So, how much longer do we have to travel, Miss Flora?" Alvin asked, feeling exhausted. In contrast, Kuber felt energized after consuming the herb Flora had given him.

"It's just a minute away. I believe it's a suitable place for us to take shelter," Flora responded, not providing much explanation about their destination. It appeared that even she wasn't fully aware of what kind of place it was.

After walking for a minute, they finally reached their destination, but they encountered a barrier blocking their way.

"Didn't you say this place was safe, Flora? How are we supposed to pass through this barrier? And even if we do, we have no idea what dangers await us on the other side," Kuber expressed his concern, skeptical about entering unknown territory. The golden barrier prevented them from seeing inside, raising suspicion.

"I don't know much about this place. I came here after hearing about it from someone," Flora admitted, hesitating to enter the barrier unprepared. To test it, she picked up a rock and threw it at the barrier. Surprisingly, the stone passed through without any issue.

"I think it's safe to enter. We can't be overly suspicious about everything," Flora concluded, giving her approval. Encouraged by her decision, Kuber and Alvin also passed through the barrier and arrived on the other side, where they were greeted by a stunning sight.

In the center of the area stood a magnificent statue of a beautiful angel, resembling a goddess. Surrounding the statue, numerous people were selling weapons, herbs, and clothing. Some were wailing in a corner, while others were laughing maniacally. Most were silently observing one another.

"Well, well, this is quite the spectacle. People are setting up a whole market here while others are perishing outside," Flora laughed, amused by the peculiar scene before her.

Flora's laughter caught the attention of a burly man, who approached them accompanied by his two lackeys. Reacting swiftly, Kuber checked the statuses of the muscular man and his companions. He discovered that the muscular man was level 2, while the other two were level 1. They posed no threat to Kuber's group in a fight.

"Hey, you newbies! Don't you know the rules for entering here? You have to pay an entrance fee of 2 stone credits," the muscular man said with a smirk, his arrogance evident in his eyes. He believed his higher level gave him the upper hand in this encounter.

Flora smiled at the muscular man's request and didn't bother arguing with him. "Sure, why not?" she replied nonchalantly, seemingly unfazed by giving away such a small amount. She handed him 2 stone credits and shook his hand.

"Can we now enter the safe zone?" Flora politely inquired, accepting his request to avoid tarnishing the land near the statue of the mysterious angel. Her strong religious beliefs played a role in this decision.

After receiving the money, Flora left Kuber and Alvin without a word. Observing her departure, the muscular man commented, "What a generous beauty. She didn't even hesitate to give me that much."

"Now, it's your turn. Give us 8 stone credits for both of you," the muscular man's lackey arrogantly demanded from Kuber.

"What are stone credits? And why do I have to give you four instead of two, like Flora?" Kuber responded arrogantly, challenging the man's demands.

The muscular man glared at Kuber, his eyes filled with the desire to make him pay for his insolence. "It's four for you because you're a traitor's son. We know all about you, Kuber Walton. We're aware of all the atrocities committed by you and your family. If you don't have stone credits, then give us your rusty swords," he taunted.

The muscular man intended to seize the rusty swords that Kuber and Alvin had acquired after hunting goblins. Kuber, unwilling to part with something that belonged to him, had no intention of giving it to an unknown thug.

Enraged, Kuber closed the distance between him and the muscular man, glaring at him with fury. "I won't give you a penny".

"You are too arrogant, Kuber Walton. You won't be able to bear the consequences of offending me... Hahaha," the muscular man arrogantly remarked before bursting into uncontrollable laughter.

Without a moment's hesitation, Kuber swiftly swung his rusty sword, severing the muscular man's head. The muscular man, being a level 2 without any unique skills, fell victim to Kuber's strike, underestimating his opponent and letting his guard down.

Stunned by Kuber's sudden attack, the spectators gasped among themselves. Fueled by anger, the muscular man's lackeys attacked Kuber and Alvin.

"You damned fraud! How dare you kill our boss?" one of the lackeys shouted, lunging at Kuber with his spear.

Kuber defended himself from the lackey's attack, while Alvin dispatched his opponent with a single strike of his knife. Seeing Kuber struggling, Alvin extended a helping hand and stabbed the lackey in the stomach. Seizing the opportunity, Kuber swiftly sliced the last lackey's neck, ending the confrontation.

Covered in blood, Kuber glanced at Flora, who was engrossed in prayer before the angel statue, conveying the message that she had merely saved him

once but wouldn't act as his guardian.

Although there were several level 2 players in the crowd, none of them bothered to intervene and simply watched from a distance. There was even a level 3 player sitting in a corner, leisurely eating an apple.

"What are you staring at? Mind your own business," Kuber scolded the spectators, who were huddled together, gossiping. To them, it was just one scoundrel killing another.

"Young master, you should change your clothes. Your shirt is soaked in blood," Alvin suggested softly.

Kuber's shirt was stained with green goblin blood and red blood from the muscular man and his lackeys. Examining his clothes, Kuber realized the need to change.

"You're right, Alvin. I should change. But tell me, how do you manage to keep your clothes clean after every fight?" Kuber inquired, observing Alvin's pristine suit.

Alvin chuckled at Kuber's question and whispered in his ear, "Unlike you, I have quite a bit of experience with fights like these."

"Well, I can't argue with that," Kuber acknowledged, nodding in appreciation of Alvin's expertise.

Kuber and Alvin scanned the safe zone for suitable clothing. After a few minutes, Kuber finally found a shirt in his size and approached the vendor.

"How much for this shirt?" he inquired.

"It's just one stone credit, sir," the vendor replied.

Kuber examined the shirt carefully before responding, "That's a good price. But could you please explain how to obtain these stone credits?" he asked the street vendor.

"Huh, you don't know what stone credits are? Just check the 'Shop' option in your status screen," the vendor suggested.

Following the vendor's advice, Kuber promptly checked his status screen and selected the shop option.
