Chapter 7 - Stone credits

The vendor explained to Kuber that, to gain stone credits, one has to put their hands on the circular plate of the statue. According to the monsters you have killed, you will gain stone credits. And to give these credits to someone else they will have to shake hands with the receiver and give their consent.

Following the vendor's advice, Kuber approached the angel statue and placed his hand on the circular carving with a sun mark of the statue. As soon as he placed his hand a system notification popped up.

[You have gained 3 stone credits]

Following Kuber, Alvin also received his stone credits, which amounted to four.

Kuber stared at the statue and turned his gaze toward his hand. "I see, so 1 goblin equals 1 stone credit. And there's no credit for killing a human being."

Kuber had killed a human being before, but it didn't give him a single credit. This is a quite good concept since people wouldn't start to murder weaker players for the sake of credits.

After the transaction, Kuber gave the vendor 1 stone credit and received clothes from him.

It was now Kuber's turn to analyze the current situation and move forward.

A pretty young girl was sitting behind a tree inside the barrier and doing something that needs to be hidden. Kuber approached her due to curiosity.

"Hello little girl, what are you doing so secretively?" Kuber asked the little girl, wearing a polite smile.

She got stumbled by Kuber's sudden arrival and almost spilled something out of her mouth.

Looking closely, Kuber found out that she was just eating some snacks secretly.

"What do you want uncle? I don't have any stone credits?" The little girl misunderstood Kuber's intentions.

But, Kuber wasn't offended by her misunderstanding since she was just 14 or 15 years old, and a girl. Kuber had this prejudice since childhood that 90% of girls are stupid.

"Don't worry little girl, I am a good person," Kuber said while wearing a fake smile and showing his empty hands to the little girl. "See, I don't even have any weapons."

The little girl scanned Kuber completely and paused for a moment. "Do you think I am stupid uncle? You must've hidden your weapons inside your inventory. I am telling you... I am a grown woman." She looked at Kuber with eyes full of anger and suspicion.

"Young master, it looks like this little girl is quite smart. How about letting me take over since I have experience in taking care of spoiled brats?" Alvin advised Kuber in a sarcastic tone. He had taken care of Kuber since childhood and saying that he looked after a spoiled brat means Kuber was a spoiled brat.

Kuber just blankly stared at Alvin and didn't say anything. Ignoring Alvin's advice he continued his conversation with the little girl.

"It looks like you are quite smart little girl. How about letting me have a bite of what you are eating?"

Kuber wore his professional smile and rubbed his hands while addressing the little girl.

The little girl became even more suspicious of Kuber and tried to hide her snacks in her school bag.

"I don't want to share my snacks with you,u suspicious uncle... you look kinda shady." She said and stepped back in hesitation.

"If you don't want to share it. Then how about selling it?"

Kuber asked and extended his hand for a handshake.

The little girl paused for a while and started contemplating the current situation.

"Umm... how about 5 stone credits for all these snacks then?" She said while still feeling hesitant.

Kuberwas able to get rid of her suspicion nor did he try after all the only thing he was interested in was the snacks.

"It's a deal."

Kuber shook hands with her and exchanged 5 stone credits without bargaining. He borrowed 2 stone credits from Alvin, leaving them with only 1 stone credit.

He then took those snacks and set up a stall near the statue.

"Young master, What are you doing?" Alvin asked Kuber after being perplexed by his actions.

"Ohit'sts nothing, I am just selling these snacks."

Alvin was astonished to see that Kuber was willing to set up a small stall like this and sell mere snacks.

Kuber Walton, a renowned businessman. There were even his fan groups all over America before his father's misdeeds were exposed. He became a billionaire at the age of 19 and became a prominent figure USA.

Despite having all these achievements, he was now selling snacks in an unknown place.

"Hey, did you see that? That goblin is selling snacks."

"Who would buy something from a guy like him? He is too untrustworthy. God knows if those snakes are even safe to eat."Players around him gossiped about Kuber in a toxic way. They were criticizing him despite not knowing the complete truth.

Amidst the gossip, a young man approached Kuber while eating a lollipop.

"Hey, How much for the chips?" the boy asked while leaning closer to look at the snacks. He was looking like a careless kid but, in actuality,y Kuber knew something was up with him.

"It will be 2 stone credits."

The young boy made a sour expression and tried to haggle with Kuber.

"No, I wouldn't reduce the price no matter what. Since you came to buy these so soon, you should've also understood the importance of these snacks."

Kuber said and wore a professional smile similar to those of a regular salesman. It was clear from Kuber's expressions that he wouldn't change the price, no matter what.

Accepting Kuber's unreasonable price, the young boy extended his hand to complete the transaction.

"Tsk! I wouldn't buy something from your stall again."

He left after saying those discouraging words.

"Oh! you will come again. But, it wouldn't be a small stall next time."

Kuber said as he stared at the young man who left the safe zone, walking out of it casually.

Following the young man's lead, many other smart people also bout the snacks from Kuber. After just half an hour, he sold all the snacks at a high price, earning 12 stone credits from it.

Finishing her prayer, Flora also approached Kuber with a bright smile. It looked like her mood was brightened after praying for so long.

"Oh did you up a stall too Kuber?"

Flora with a cheerful mood. She looked like a little girl who had just fallen in love for the first time.

"Yes, I did, and as you can see I am all sold out too."

Kuber's stall was sold out because people may be able to survive if they hide inside the barrier however they won't be able to fight properly on an empty stomach. Since there is no doubt that there will be more challenges after the end of the trial, people are still going out of the safe to hunt and level up.

"But, I saved this much for you."

Kuber takes out the last packet and gives it to Flora with a genuine smile instead of a fake one.

"How generous of you Kuber. Thank you so much." Flora left while feeling exalted.

"She just left without even giving me credits?"

Kuber said after getting astonished at Flora's shamelessness. He was expecting her to at least receive a single stone credit from her, after which he would've formally tried to refuse and then accept it later.

"You should've just asked for the credits in that case young master."

Alvin was still standing near Kuber like a statue. For a moment, Kuner even forgot that Alvin was with him.

"Well, I wouldn't want to ask her to give me money after she saved me. But, she should've at least tried to offer something."

Kuber said after feeling disappointed. Nevertheless, building up a good relationship with Flora is crucial to Kuber. Since she is a transmigrator after all.

"It looks like we still earned 12 stone credits. So we should be fine for a while."

Kuber said and clicked on the shop option of the system.

After scrolling for a while, he finally found something that would be quite useful for him.

"Why does it sound like a commercial for a kid's toy? It's just an F-level technique but sounded like a S level."

Kuber, help but feel disappointed. Other than, the aura book, there was also a spellbook and skill book, available in the shop. However, Kuber decided to go with the aura book since it sounded cool.

"What did you say, young master?"

Kuber couldn't sometimes grasp what Alvin is thinking. He acted like James Bond sometimes while sometimes like America's current president.

"It's nothing, Joe... I mean Alvin. Let's go we should go out to hunt too. After all, we don't know what will happen after this trial is over."

After deciding to leave the safe zone, Kuber and Alvin tried to look for weak prey, like a goblin. However, to their luck, they didn't find a single goblin despite roaming for about an hour in the forest.

"What is happening Alvin? Why aren't those tiny little goblins showing up?"

Kuber asked, he was exhausted after walking for so long and was gasping continuously.

"Maybe this is what god has planned for us young master. He doesn't want us to confront those little devils."

Alvin said in an enthusiastic tone. From his expression, it looked like he didn't want to encounter those monsters. That's because he is a clean freak. He doesn't like to dirty his clothes with the monster's blood.

"You know what, let's just leave it."

Shrugged off their conversation and looked at a small cliff.

"We should climb that cliff, Alvin. We can see clearly from up there."

They both climbed the cliff and tried to look for suitable prey.

"Young master look there. Isn't that a reb barrier?"

Alvin shouted after noticing a red barrier at a certain distance.

Many questions rose in Kuber's mind as he stared at the red barrier. "Was it a safe zone, like the previous one, or something dangerous?"
