Chapter 3 - Chapter 2

There is always this feeling of home that gives us peace. Whether we travel the whole world or go to some luxurious places, the only place we get peace is our home. The same feelings I got five minutes ago as soon as I landed in Italy.

Taking a taxi to my home I informed Grace about my arrival via message. As I was getting nearer to my house, I could feel my heart rate increasing.

So many memories flooded back, sweet and bitter both. After reaching outside my house and getting out of the taxi, I hesitated a little before pressing the doorbell. My parents didn't know I was going to come, it was a surprise.

Nothing has changed in past years. The plants and decorations on the porch were as beautiful as before. I could still hear the same classic songs playing in my house.

"Careful Ava!" Mom said the worry was evident in her voice. Running out of the door I jumped in Dad's arms as he grabbed me twirling.

"Yes, Mommy," I said as our laughter filled the air. Me, Mom, and dad sat on the porch eating sandwiches, laughing, and playing as the songs played in the background.

I heard a faint 'coming' before the door opened. I smiled seeing my mom with surprised and happy expressions.

"Ava!" she said and immediately our eyes were watery. She hugged me tight and as soon as we pulled back, I was again embraced by my super-surprised dad.

"Oh, my princess," Dad said, pulling away.

"How are you both?" I said, wiping my tears.

"We are good darlings. How are you and why didn't you inform us about your arrival?" Mom asked.

"Grace is getting married in the next 20 days so I decided to give you a surprise by showing up without informing you both," I said with a small smile.

"That's great, I will clean your room first till then be here. Okay?" She said but I stopped her before she went upstairs.

"Mom, Aiden, and Grace have booked a resort for all of us. So, I am going to stay there but don't worry I will come here now and then to meet you." I said but I didn't miss the disappointment on their faces but in the end, they agreed.

After spending some time with them, I took a taxi from my home to the resort. It felt nice to be home with my mom and dad, I missed them a lot in past years.

As soon as I reached the resort I was attacked by a very happy and emotional Grace.

"Oh my god, Ava." She said and I laughed slightly.

"Congratulations girl," I said, pulling back with a genuine smile.

"Thanks, how was the journey?" she asked, wiping her tears.

"Good," I said and I embraced her again as tears started welling up in my eyes. Seeing her after four years had made me cry. She has grown her blonde hair a little bit. Her beautiful green eyes matched the outfit she wore.

"Ah! Ava, welcome" Aiden came and hugged me. Aiden was with us in school and he had a crush on Grace from our school time. Aiden was always like a brother I never had.

"Congratulations Aiden," I said, hugging him.

"Thank you"

"Ian must be here any minute too," Aiden said to which I just nodded my head. Ian was our best friend back in school. He and Aiden were like brothers and very close friends. Also, he had a crush on me back then when I and he used to date.

"Come, I will show you your room," Grace said, holding my hand as she dragged me inside.
