The sun has finally set. Which means that it was time for us to initiate our assault. Blanc, Rika and Luther were ready. They all had different outfit than before except for Luther who has been ready since yesterday.
I looked at Blanc and noticed that she has slightly changed her usual style. Her unkempt hair has been straightened out. Her old red beret has been replaced with a brand new design but it kept the same colour as before. She has a standard white jacket that was...once again feeling a bit revealing...
"I can't properly close it past my chest..." She told me that when she was dressing up earlier.
As a matter of fact, why does she have to wear such a small jacket anyway? That button would definitely pop off any moment with how large those chests were...I'm getting side tracked...In any case, she kept the checkered skirt she's been wearing. It looks like she decided to stop wearing that pantyhose and just replace it with a pair of thigh high socks along with a brand new knee high boots.
I tried my best to move on as I then explained what Rika had worn for the occasion. I'm honestly glad that Rika didn't went further and beyond like Blanc. Rika only had the average type of white socks and brown loafers with a light brown unbuttoned vest over a white blouse along with a gray skirt. Aside from all of that, she also wear shorts under her skirt. That's about it.
What about me? Nothing special, I think? Since I've been doing a lot of last minute work at my workshop finalizing all of my rifles and bullets. I didn't have the time to properly dress myself and I ended up using my usual working outfit. It's always hot working at the workshop thanks to burning furnace. What I can say about what I wear was that it is specifically for work at the alloy foundry.
Consisting of leather gloves, leather boots and a white coat that has a blue checkered pattern on the inside part of the coat that keeps me safe with enhanced heat resistance and insulation. As convenient as this outfit may be, it often made me sweat buckets. When I'm away from the heat, I would take off my coat and tie down its sleeve on my waist just to keep cool. I also tied my hair during work but just for this occasion...I wore a ribbon to tie my hair. A sky blue ribbon. White's favourite colour.
Rika commented on my appearance, "Are you really not going to wear that coat of yours, Zen? You're only wearing white tank top, you know. But then again, I don't think there would be a problem if you begin to sweat..."
I nervously laughed, "Ah ha ha...don't worry about people looking at me. And I just got out of my workshop. I'm still sweating here in case you didn't see. No one is going to stare at me...shut up."
I can't believe how Rika was somehow able to indirectly talk about this cutting board just like that. And why am I getting flustered about this thing? Oh, Great Will sake! I've had enough of this. I ended up visibly pissed just because of that.
Blanc then tried to console me, "Of come on, Zen. It's not like a fully flat airstrip...There is a hill there..."
"...A small hill..." Rika joined in.
I immediately gently pushed them away and groaned in retaliation. I decided to forget about it as I noticed that Luther have been scouting the fortress all this time.
"How are things?" I asked him.
He replied, "Pretty good so far. The open field doesn't feel like a war is going on though. Only several dozens of minions as far as I can see."
"We can take them out easily, then." I told him.
He shakes his head, "I don't think it'd be too easy. But we just have to be prepared for anything."
"You're right on that. There's a possibility that the enemy might be onto us somehow." I agreed.
Rika then added, "There's no need to worry too much. As long as we stay alive, the others will come as reinforcement just as planned."
"So what are waiting for?" Blanc was ready to rev up her chainblade.
Blanc prepares to pull the string on her chainblade. Rika was rubbing both of her hands as small sparks of electricity started to go off. I pulled out a rifle that had a large ammo drum on it from my Dimensional Inventory and hang it behind me. After that I pulled out a pair of silver and blue plated flintlock and began to load up some ammo in it. Luther however didn't brought out any weapon or have shown any magic at all.
"On the count of three, we slide down the hill." I told them all. "One...two...three!"
The four of us slides down toward the ground floor. As soon as one of us hit ground floor, they would immediately run toward to the nearest monster that they could reach. And since I already am holding a couple of firearms on my hand, I keep my flintlocks in its pockets and switched it with a special gun as I aimed it way up to the sky in a 90 degree angle. I pulled the trigger and what came out of it was flares as it flies up high and began lighting up brightly. It was a signal for our forces that means that we have begun the assault against Nova's forces.
The monsters nearby took notice of what they have witnessed but they immediately annihilated by an incoming rail gun blast by Rika. Rika then began charging herself up as she suddenly pushed out a powerful electrical energy below her with her hand, which makes her jump up way higher than a normal person could do. As she was in the sky, her entire body was still full of electricity. Her jump was able to reach a group of enemy monsters. As she was about to reach the ground, she slammed the ground down with both of her arms while also discharging all of the electricity that she has charged up while she was in air.
"Holy shit!" Blanc was...shocked.
Rika slowly got herself up, turned her head to us and started to tilt her head and smile innocently. So this was the rumored Thunder Mouse that White was crushing on...I guess he was right, she's way out of his league.
But insanity was not over yet as about 20 others monsters began to run towards us. On our left, Luther was breathing heavily as both of his arm was in a position as if he was holding a knight sword. But he doesn't have any at all. He continues to breath in and out until he finally opens his eyes in which a strong burst of wind spiked through the area. He began swinging whatever the heck that we couldn't see but much to our surprise the oncoming monsters were slashed by the wind.
"What was that?!" Blanc was...blown away...
Luther then made a swinging gesture on his right hand as he told us, "What you just witnessed was my invisible sword powered up with a high velocity air energy."
"Invisible sword?" I was confused.
"Look at this." Luther explained it by flailing his right arm downward. We then heard a loud steel noise hitting a large chunk of rock. "You hear that?"
"Fascinating..." I've never seen that kind of sword before.
Much to that, an extremely powerful blow of wind. He even surpassed Fitz wind magic in terms of power level. So this was what two of the top seven students of a prestigious school were capable of. To think that there were seven of them who could even stand a chance against other adults.
"Oh yeah? Well I'm not going to be deterred by that." Blanc's spirit was high up as another row of enemy approached us.
She revs up her large chainsaw blade as it started to let out bright sparks all over. Blanc intensely swung her blade, splitting off the very flesh of the approaching monsters. One of the monsters was very large and fat, but Blanc was undeterred as she sinks her large chain saw into the monster's fatty stomach. Her blade suddenly got stuck. It had probably something to do with the hard flesh the monster had. But Blanc remained calm until her eye started to glow red.
All of a sudden, her chainsaw started to move on its own as an unknown creature appeared from her blade. It had a wide sharp jaw, sharp enough to probably gnash the flesh of the thick monster. And it did that as it opens its jaw as wide as possible and began chewing through the flesh. Blood started pouring out like a fountain as Blanc's chainsaw creature began mauling its foe. That creature that hides inside Blanc's chainsaw was actually a part of her. That's her monster self that can't be turned into human.
The laboratory that Blanc came from made sure that all of her monsters feature were hidden so that she can be further experimented as a monster living as a human. This was supposed to be a secret but she has already revealed to a lot of the campus folks over the years. I could go on and on about her but I think her history with Zero Yohna was definitely an important part of her life as well. Her resolve to move forward has now made her a fearsome ally.
Seeing all of the vanguards doing their job wonderfully, I couldn't just hold myself and stay behind. I still have an important person that needs to be saving. I'm taking you back home, White. I promise that.
I kneel down as I prepared a shot with my rifle. Enemies approaching me in a distance. They were many of them. A normal shot won't be enough to stop them in their tracks. I had to do something different. Good thing my rifle isn't just a normal rifle. I quickly assembled an attachment below the barrel of the rifle. I removed the scope attachment and replaced it with a different attachment. The two new attachment was connected together creating a single purpose for my rifle. I waited until the enemy gets in my range.
I shouted, "Take this buckshot, punks!" and pulled the trigger as the bullet inside my rifle started to launch out of the barrel.
The shot scattered into all over that was in front of me, blowing off all of the monsters that touched the pellets. What I did just now was transforming my trusty sniper rifle into a hybrid medium range shotgun. By using my ability Infinite Tune, I was able to change the property of one of the bullet inside my rifle to have the property of a buckshot type of bullet.
For those uneducated, it is a larger sized type of shot. Large enough that they must be carefully packed into a shell. Fun fact, buckshot were used for hunting any kinds of medium to large game. But with the modifications and magical properties I did on the bullet as well as my rifle, the amount of damage done were increased tenfold. It's way more damaging than Yumiko's deadly bullet if I have to be honest.
Everyone else were surprised about my rifle as they were in awe of what just happened. I nervously laughed as I notice Blanc sighing.
She told us, "So this is what you've been doing inside that workshop of yours, huh. What kind of gun freak you are, Zenith." She chuckled.
I gleefully replied back, "The kind that makes her own gun. And sell them sometimes."
While the mood have finally shifted to a more uplifting one, our excitement comes to a halt as I put back my scope attachment and saw The Chaos Shogun, Lord Kitsuneki was waiting at one of the windows of the fortress. He unsheathes his blade, The Legendary Koi Dragon Blade, and cuts through the air in front of him. That cut rips apart the fabric of space in front of him, creating a gateway from the Yokai mainland of Nihon. A bunch of different Yokais started pouring out of the gateway like waterfall. Lord Kitsuneki sheathes back his blade and went back into the fortress.
The amount of monsters have increased by a lot with the Yokais coming into the field. That may be a problem for the four of us but we had been holding the front line long enough that we have started to hear the shouting of our allies from behind us.
"Reinforcement!" shouted Luther.
Two other group have started to enter the field as they fight against the enemy force. Then another group came in until Blanc suddenly felt a presence.
She talked to herself, "Wait a minute...something big is coming..." She scanned the area.
With her amazing eye sight she pointed at the fortress as the the three of us tried to see what was it through my scope. Through the scope, we saw a man wearing a robe with a hood. His face covered by a helmet. He has a staff that has moving, living eyeball on it...
Rika then mentioned, "It can't be...that's Lord Escher...The Chaos Illusionist. He's the one responsible for the trapping of students during our final year in Soul Power High. I'm sure it was him. He even has that wretched Staff of Inversion."
From afar, Lord Escher was holding some kind of cube in his free hand. It started to glow as the earth below us was shaking. Then...it appeared. A sharp large structure started to plop out from the ground. The structure slowly ascend as it reveals a scaly living being, rising up to the surface. As the ground and sands begins to fall down from the top of the being, it's teeth was visible. It's eyes were glowing in purple. The scales was light green.
"The Ravenous Hydra..." Rika said its name.
