Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Legacy Debut

Deep within the hidden confines of the secret lab, Hiro stood face to face with the professor. The lab, a sanctuary of cutting-edge technology and groundbreaking research, pulsated with life. Screens adorned the walls, displaying a wealth of data and intricate maps of the infected city. The room hummed with the ceaseless activity of machines and the mesmerizing glow of monitors, casting an ethereal light upon the professor's worn features.

"Ah, Hiro!" greeted the professor, his voice carrying a tinge of weariness as his gaze remained fixed on his ongoing research.

Hiro beamed at the professor's acknowledgment, though a faint trace of disappointment lingered as he noticed the professor's distracted demeanor. Undeterred, he leaned in, his eyes widening in awe as he took in the progress displayed on the monitors.

"Wow, it seems your research on the virus is yielding remarkable results," Hiro marveled, his voice tinged with admiration.

The professor offered a nod of acknowledgement, his focus still divided between Hiro and the wealth of information before him. "Indeed, and much of our progress can be attributed to your courageous efforts in collecting data while utilizing the Legacy Driver."

Hiro's cheeks flushed with a mixture of pride and bashfulness, his hand subconsciously reaching up to ruffle his hair.

"Oh, it was nothing," Hiro replied, a modest smile gracing his lips. "I'm just glad I could help."

The professor's gaze softened as he regarded Hiro, appreciating the young hero's humility and selflessness. "You've played a crucial role, Hiro. But do not underestimate your contributions. They have proven invaluable."

The weight of the professor's words settled upon Hiro, infusing him with a renewed sense of purpose. Yet, as the silence enveloped them, he couldn't shake the unease that gnawed at his heart.

"By the way, Professor," Hiro interjected, his voice filled with anticipation. "You mentioned that we've received new intelligence concerning the virus. Could you share it with me?"

The professor's expression shifted, his eyes lighting up with a mix of curiosity and concern. He swiftly opened a tab on the monitor, revealing the freshly acquired information that had piqued his interest.

"Take a look," the professor beckoned, his finger pointing towards the illuminated screen.

Hiro turned his gaze toward the monitor, his eyes scanning the newly revealed data. With each passing moment, his comprehension deepened, and realization dawned.

"This..." Hiro began, his voice tinged with a mixture of surprise and trepidation.

"Yes," the professor confirmed, his tone resolute. "Our previous assumptions regarding the infected's escape from the facility were misguided. This new evidence points to a different culprit."

As Hiro absorbed the revelation, a knot formed in his stomach, a troubling sensation that refused to dissipate.

"And this could mean..." Hiro's voice trailed off, his thoughts racing as he connected the dots.

The professor nodded solemnly, acknowledging the weight of Hiro's unspoken fears. "Indeed, Hiro. It is highly likely that the hooded figure in the footage is responsible for your own transformation and the appearance of the crystal mark upon your body."

A shiver coursed through Hiro's frame as he involuntarily rubbed the crystal-etched patch of skin upon his neck, contemplating the implications.

"He is the reason..." Hiro whispered, his voice laden with uncertainty and a touch of fear.

The professor observed Hiro's turmoil, sensing the torrent of emotions surging within him. "Do not allow yourself to be consumed by these thoughts, Hiro. We have yet to discern the full extent of this individual's motives. Moreover, the transformations induced by the virus may differ in nature from your own."

Hiro's grip on his bag tightened, his knuckles turning white, as the professor's words attempted to assuage his concerns.

"You're right, Professor," Hiro replied, his voice carrying a newfound determination. "For now, my focus should be on finding a cure for those affected by the virus."

The professor's expression softened, a hint of relief surfacing amidst his weary countenance.

"By the way, Hiro," the professor suddenly interjected, his voice carrying a note of urgency. "Didn't you have a class today?"

Hiro's eyes widened as he glanced at his watch, panic seizing him as the realization dawned.

"Oh, no! I'm already late!" Hiro exclaimed, his voice tinged with regret and anxiety.

With a sense of urgency, Hiro turned to leave the lab, eager to make up for lost time. However, his departure was momentarily halted as the professor's voice called out to him.

"Hiro, wait!" the professor shouted, his words imbued with a sense of urgency.

Hiro paused in his tracks, pivoting to face the professor, his brows furrowing in confusion.

"The Legacy Driver..." the professor gestured towards Hiro, a request evident in his eyes. "I will need it back."

"Eh..." Hiro hesitated for a moment, his hand instinctively clutching the Legacy Driver at his waist. However, he relinquished it with a sigh, realizing the importance of the professor's work.

After bidding a swift farewell, Hiro dashed towards his class, his heart pounding with a mixture of anxiety and determination. Despite his tardiness, he managed to slip into the classroom just in time, avoiding any further repercussions.

After the school day concluded, Hiro sought solace in engaging in activities to distract himself. Yet, amidst the fleeting moments of respite, the footage of the hooded figure lingered in the recesses of his mind, stirring a sense of unease that refused to be quelled.

"Hooded man..." Hiro mused, his thoughts consumed by the enigmatic figure's presence and their ominous actions.

Unbeknownst to Hiro, as he grappled with his inner turmoil, a mysterious hooded man skulked about the premises of the school. In his hands, he clutched a syringe filled with a dark crimson liquid capable of transforming individuals into infected beings. An air of malevolence surrounded him, contrasting sharply with the tranquil surroundings.

As the hooded man prowled the school grounds, searching for his chosen victim, he was suddenly confronted by an inquisitive individual who crossed his path.

"Excuse me, sir. Are you lost? What brings you inside the school?" the curious onlooker inquired.

The hooded man fixated his gaze upon the interloper, a sinister smile curling upon his lips. Raising a finger, he pointed directly at the unsuspecting individual.

"Rejoice, young man, for today you shall become a perfect being," the hooded man proclaimed, his voice brimming with sinister delight.

The onlooker regarded him with a mixture of confusion and wariness, unaware of the imminent danger that lurked beneath the hooded man's facade. Before the individual could react, the hooded man swiftly injected them with the contents of the syringe.

Stumbling backward in shock, the onlooker desperately pushed the hooded man away, their body undergoing a sudden and terrifying transformation. In mere moments, they were consumed by the monstrous form of an infected being.

Meanwhile, Hiro, sensing a foreboding presence within the school, embarked on a frantic search, determined to uncover the source of his unease. His footsteps echoed through the corridors as he followed the disquieting trail. Suddenly, a scream pierced the air, resonating from the school field.

Instinctively, Hiro sprinted towards the source of the disturbance, his heart pounding within his chest. As he arrived at the scene, his eyes widened with alarm, taking in the sight of a colossal infected monster wreaking havoc upon the soccer team. Hiro swiftly rummaged through his bag, seeking the familiar weight of the Legacy Driver, only to be reminded that he had returned it to the professor.

"This is bad," Hiro muttered under his breath, his mind racing for an alternative course of action.

With a surge of determination, Hiro retrieved his phone and dialed the professor's number, his voice laced with urgency as he relayed the dire situation.

"Professor, we need the driver immediately," Hiro implored, his words tinged with desperation.

"Understood. I'll bring it to you," the professor responded, his voice calm yet tinged with concern.

Relief washed over Hiro as he awaited the professor's arrival, even as he continued to engage the monster, skillfully dodging its onslaught and protecting the endangered students.

A sudden shout from a distance diverted Hiro's attention, drawing his gaze towards the professor, who emerged with the driver in hand. The professor tossed the driver and a new badge to Hiro, who deftly caught them amidst the chaos.

"Use these to defeat the monster," the professor called out, his voice brimming with encouragement.

Hiro nodded, a determined glint in his eyes as he donned the Legacy Driver once more, securing it around his hips like a belt. With a swift motion, he inserted the new badge into the vacant slot, the resounding jingle of the driver resonating through the school grounds.

"Transform!" Hiro commanded, his voice resolute as he slid the driver into position.

In an instant, Hiro metamorphosed into the formidable Armor Gaiden: Legacy, his armored form radiating power and resolve. He engaged the monster in a fierce battle, his movements fluid and precise as he utilized his newfound abilities.

"Hiro! Utilize the new badge I created!" the professor's voice reverberated through the air, urging Hiro on.

Hiro, fueled by a surge of adrenaline, acknowledged the professor's guidance. Retrieving the new badge, he inserted it into the driver, feeling a surge of energy coursing through him as his transformation morphed into Legacy's fiery form.

"Whoa! This is amazing!" Hiro exclaimed, his voice brimming with exhilaration.

With renewed vigor, Hiro continued to wage war against the monster, his attacks growing more powerful and precise with each passing moment. In a climactic display, he unleashed a devastating finishing move that decimated the creature, restoring a semblance of calm to the school grounds.

As the defeated monster dissipated into nothingness, Hiro turned towards the professor, a triumphant smile gracing his lips. The professor, though wearied, couldn't help but smile in response, his eyes filled with pride.

Together, they approached the fallen victim of the hooded man's machinations, the professor extracting an empty core to extract the essence of the infected creature. With the process complete, the victim was miraculously restored to their former self, the nightmare of the infection vanquished.
