While Liz was accustomed to their disapproval, she couldn't help but wonder why it felt so intensified now.
Suppressing a sigh, Liz summoned her resolve, refusing to be deterred by Mrs. Lambert's frosty demeanor. "I've come to visit," she replied evenly, masking her own discomfort behind a polite facade. "I wanted to extend my gratitude for your support over the years and to share some news with both of you."
Mrs. Lambert's gaze remained fixed on Liz, her expression unreadable. "News?" she echoed, her tone laced with skepticism.
Liz nodded, pushing past the awkwardness. "Yes, news. I'm getting married, and I wanted to invite both of you to the wedding."
