Chapter 1 - Prologue: April 2011

I woke up one night, violently. I pulled my gun out, expecting an attack, only for me to remember I was in the middle of nowhere, on my way to my own suicide-mission.

Just a few days ago, I was living happily in Korea with the love of my life, Doctor Jasmine Leigh Olsen. She was my everything. Then a few days later, I was on a mission, away from her. A mission to investigate some wealthy businessman who T.H.E.P.A. had suspicion on. A mission that led to nothing but a blood bath.  I was sent to investigate with a fellow agent, who turned out to be working for the other side this whole time to save someone close and dear to her. Her cover was blown and knowing it was the only way to keep her loved one safe, she killed herself. Other than her, I lost also my best friend, May. May Berman. I asked for her help on the case only for her to be gunned down, because of me.

Yes. Yes I took this suicide mission because whatever this Ms. Delvey has planned must be stopped. Yes I took it because it is my job to protect the people. Yes I decided to take the blame for Audrey's death because I knew that somehow, Delvey must have some people planted in T.H.E.P.A. and by making me their enemy, she may lower her guard down a bit. Yes I also took this mission out of guilt, out of regret. Guilt and regret that I wasn't able to save them and that maybe by doing this, I could be able to make their sacrifice and death mean something.

Every man has their stitches and burns, even me. I have been keeping mine in for so long that it has haunted me my whole life. My stitches and my burns are the reason why I do what I do. Why I decide to go on these missions, why I decide to save these lives. These stitches and these burns made me the man I am today, and maybe, to solve this case, I may need to reopen these stitched wounds. It is time that you know my story. The story that made me, and this story, one that started around twelve years ago, all started with a woman.
