Michael was slightly taken aback. Few moments ago, the girl in front of him was scared, shaking even. But now something was off. It was as if someone flipped a switch in her head and here she was, attacking him. It was amusing to see someone react this way, but he was playing it safe. She lacked control over her strength and it was easy to realize that she had never been in a fight before. It was probably adrenaline that was helping her keep up with his movements. He knew how to handle people when they lashed out this way, and this way it wouldn't be boring for him.
His fangs shrunk as he ducked under her form as she came sailing past him. She was bounding after him within a second and he was forced to dodge her rabid movements. Dogs! He thought to himself and smiled. She was like a dog lashing out to protect herself from an attacker. Perhaps she still had hope that something or someone would come and save her. He would do well to sever that feeling.
He was pulled out of his thoughts as her hand came sailing past him. How did I miss that? He stopped his new train of thoughts as he felt a sting on his cheek. Time seemed to stop for him as a warm, fresh liquid seemed to seep out of his face. She had drawn blood. His blood. This changed things. He was going to enjoy breaking her. She would lose her hope. How dare she?
He lashed out at her, sending her flying until she hit a wall behind her. Within moments, he was in front of her, grabbing her by the throat before throwing her into the air. He waited until she was close to the ground before sending a kick that caught her in the stomach. That kick seemed to had done the trick as she gasped for air. He had knocked the adrenaline out of her.
…
"What a total waste of time," one of Ivy's brothers said as he alongside his other siblings and father entered the house.
"How hard should it be to track down one Omega?" another growled as he threw himself on one of the sofas.
"It's pretty difficult at times, Colton," their father said to the eldest of his kids, Colton. The blond pushed his hair to the side and sighed before throwing himself on the couch.
"Cheer up big bro, it's not like it's the end of the world or anything."
"That's easy for you to say Dean," Colton replied with a raised eyebrow. "While we're in here, who knows what that Omega is up to."
"Omega's aren't all bad but they've been known to cause issues and bring unwanted attention to the pack. Most times it isn't for a good reason and that's why it's best he either joins the pack and submit or he leave our territory because technically he is a trespasser."
"So, we're going hunting again?" another son asked his father.
"Only you would call it that, Archie. A casual search for a person and you've turned it into a man hunt."
"It is what it is Ashton. Are you sure we're twins because you act nothing like me?"
"And thank God for that. One of you is enough in this household." At this all brothers laughed before continuing their rant.
Ivy's dad watched his sons bicker before sighing. This was why he was grateful when his wife gave birth to Ivy. She was the only person for whom they could stop arguing for and reach a general consensus on. Speaking of which, he remembered he had punished her. It wasn't something that he wanted to do but it was something that had to be done.
"Ivy!" he called. All four boys stopped arguing as they waited on a reply to which nothing came.
Their dad frowned slightly. "Ivy!" he called again. No response. He was getting worried. Had she fallen asleep?
"Hold on dad," Colton said as he bounded up the stairs.
They all waited for his arrival with hopefully their sister/daughter. Colton came back down with a worried look on his face. "She's not in her room."
It was one thing when they assumed that she was just keeping quiet or sleeping. This held a lot of other possibilities. The Vampires or possibly the omega?
"We're heading out," their father said in a panicked voice. They understood the cause of his panic. She was his baby girl and their youngest sibling. She had no experience in handling any crisis of this standard. She wasn't the type to just disobey their father, so they assumed the worst of it all.
They bounded out of the house in a rushed and feral manner, quickly scaling buildings to get a vantage point and try to catch a whiff of her scent any way they can.
…
Ivy coughed as a punch landed squarely on her face and she was slammed back first into the ground. She looked up to see the figure of her opponent looming over her. His expression was menacing and grim. Since she drew blood from his cheeks it was as though he had become another person. She couldn't land a hit on him anymore, only defending his blows but that was easier said than done. She was bleeding and even though she could heal faster than humans, it wasn't as though she was immortal or anything.
"Can't fight back anymore, can you?"
He picked her up by the hair, her efforts to lash out not affecting him the slightest, before launching her back where she skidded to a stop on the ground.
"I should end this," he said as he moved closer, slowly taunting her.
Ivy was scared. She had never been in a situation like this in her life. She wasn't the type who loved fighting or anything like that. She had never fought anyone before, so how was fate expecting her to deal with this threat in front of her. She sat on the ground and slowly moved backward as he took a step, a look of horror on her face.
She closed her eyes as he suddenly rushed forward. She had yet to accept her fate but she couldn't bring herself to open her eyes.
She opened them a second later when nothing happened. Tears filled her eyes as she saw him standing between her and her attacker. She felt hope.
He didn't turn to look at her. His eyes were focused on the Vampire in front of him. His features were feral as his claws were extended. His hair seemed a lot wilder and the pressure he was exuding, she felt it.
"You're becoming trouble with each passing day, Ivy."
