The wisemonkies running toward the approaching army made of their closed ones came to a sudden stop, seeing the faces and the kind of expressions that bore those closed ones.
They looked at each other, questioning themselves about why they looked so fierce when they were finally returning to their family.
But they forgot those questions the moment the army approached them further, and they started brandishing their weapons and pointing them against them!
It was finally at this moment that it sunk into those normal wisemonkies minds: this army wasn't coming in peace; it was coming for their blood!
Frightened, they started running back towards the others that were still at the gates, cheering for the returning army.
When they saw the ones that had approached the coming army coming back with a frightened expression, they had a puzzled expression.
'Why are they coming back? And why do they look so afraid', that was what was on every wisemonkies that was below the gates.
A moment later, they understood why those ones were running back to them when an arrow nearly missed one of the running wisemonkies.
Soon enough, a shower of arrows started to rain down upon the tribesmen.
Belatedly realizing what was happening, the wisemonkies that were situated just outside the village started running inside the village while the few guards on the fences started to close the gates.
A few seconds later, the army was in front of the closed doors.
The one leading this army, the wisemonkies previous most powerful warrior, took a step towards the gates while materializing two swords from thin air.
"MILRAIN, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" shouted the chief of the guards from the fences.
"WHY ARE YOU ATTACKING YOUR OWN PEOPLE'S?"
The commandant of the army, Milrain, came to a halt and lifted his head to look at the guards situated on the fences. He then looked at the chief of the guards, then lowered his head and continued walking towards the doors, not even bothering to respond.
"STOP! IF YOU TAKE ONE MORE STEP, WE WILL ATTACK!" shouted the chief before ordering the other guards to aim at Milrain.
However, even with the threat to his life, Milrain continued walking towards the gates.
"YOU GIVE ME NO CHOICE; SHOUT HIM DOWN!" The moment the chief uttered those orders, a rain of arrows descended towards Milrain.
Just as the arrows were about to make contact with Milrain and it seemed that he would skewered, another wisemonkey detached himself from the army and ran toward Milrain, arriving just in time to protect the latter by creating a shield out of thin air like Milrain had with his two sabers.
The arrows collided with the shield without causing any damage, while Milrain continued walking towards the gates.
When he was finally in front of the gates, he brandished his two sabers, and in one swift movement, he cut down the tall doors of the village.
"HOW CAN YOU CUT DOWN THE DOORS THAT PROTECTED YOU ALL YOUR LIFE, YOU UNGRATEFUL BASTARD" practically roared the chief of the guards as he was jumping down.
He landed just in front of Milrain and said it with billowing rage. "I don't know what happened to you, but if you lot of ungrateful bastards thought that you could do all you wanted unimpeded, then you are sorely mistaken".
"And who will stop us? You? Don't make me laugh," said Milrain, with a hint of ridicule in his voice.
When he heard Milrain's words, the chief of the guard's nostrils flared in anger; however, Milrain's next words made him almost wish that he was in a dream.
"CHARGE, SLAUGHTER THEM ALL!" Shouted Milrain as he dashed toward Mizard while brandishing his sabers.
"Are you mad? Why would you want to slaughter your own kind?" asked Mizard as he brandished his spear to block Milrain's strike.
"Mad? So? What if we are mad?"Grinned evilly, Milrain.
Behind them, the army of wisemonkies that had been motionless since the beginning started flooding the village and attacking everyone that came into their sights.
'What the hell happened to them when they were down there?' wondered Mizard as he kept parrying Milrain's relentless onslaught of strikes.
'If this continues like that, they will kill all of us,' thought Mizard while distancing himself from Milrain.
'The only one that can save us...' As he thought this, Mizard glanced towards the location of the royal tent.
***
"MY KING, WE ARE UNDER ASSAULT," exclaimed a guard as he barged inside the royal tent.
"Who is attacking us?" Asked the king in a calm, almost indifferent tone.
He looked much like the other wisemonkies, but it seemed like he had less fur than the others; he strangely looked more human than a monkey.
"The wisemonkies sent down to investigate the case of disappearance had returned, but without saying anything, they started attacking the tribesmen. It seems like they have gone mad; the guards can't contain them; we need your-"
The guard came to a stop when the king lifted his hand.
"You can return."
"But my king-"
"I said that you can return; don't make me repeat myself another time."
The guards shut up hearing him, gritted his teeth, and exited the tent.
After the guard left, the king sighed, then looked at the guard standing next to him and said:
"Take half of the guards and go stop the invaders."
"Yes, my king," replied the guard respectfully, but inwardly he was cursing him.
'What a bastard; he can stop this madness just by ordering them to stop, but he isn't even bothering to get up from his f*cking throne'
This guard was the commandant of the royal guard, and it was him who was charged with defending the king, but just like all the other wisemonkies, he despised him.
Unfortunately, he couldn't do anything and was obliged to heed his order, so he took half of the guard, like the king ordered, and set out toward the location where the fight was happening.
"It seems that your people don't really like you, huh?"
Suddenly, the king and the remaining guards heard a voice that came just outside the tent.
Seconds later, a strange furless monkey walked into the tent with a smile on his face. He looked at the king, then said in a charming tone:
"Pleased to meet you."
