"Woah, your tent sure is large" said Tom in astonishment as he looked at the inside of the king's tent, if it could even be called like that, the tent was extremely large, at least ten times larger than Tom's tent in the settlement.
"You sure live a good life" said Tom with a contemptuous smile as he looked at all the food that was in the king's tent, while the normal tribesmen couldn't even eat to their fill.
Meanwhile, the king looked at tom with a curious expression, he had never seen at a furless creature like that, so he asked Tom:
"Who are you ?"
"Hmm, you don't really need to know" replied Tom with a casual smile.
Tom had passed many months with the wisemonkies, it would have been weird if he didn't learn at least a little of their language, meanwhile, the king of the wisemonkies couldn't understand anything of what the strange creature before him was saying, but although he couldn't understand what it was saying, he could clearly feel that Tom's words just now we're disrespectful towards a king just like him.
"Capture him" calmly said the wisemonkies king.
"Oh, you are no fun" said Tom with a soft chuckle as he glanced at the approaching guards, pointed at them then said to the king "if you want to capture me, you would need to come get me yourself, those guys won't certainly be enough, it may have been different if the commandant of the royal guards was still here, but alas, you just sent him out of here, In fact I need to thank you for that, you just made everything a lot easier".
Although he said this, Tom was already aware that the king would send the commandant of the royal guards even before the king ordered him, after all, it was their plan.
Midas and Tom's plan was simple, send Tom subordinates to attack the village and in the mayhem that would follow, Tom would infiltrate the village, approach the king's tent, then hide till the commandant left before showing up.
One might think, why go to such length just to separate the king from the commandant of the royal guards ? But one would forget such thought if they knew about the strength of the commandant.
Although he was weaker than Midas, the commandant was also a peak level 2 just like Tom and Midas, even now they weren't certain to kill the king, if they had to fight the commandant alongside the king, that is a level 3, their chance of winning would be literally nonexistent.
But now that there was only the king...there was at least a small chance.
The guards brandished their weapons as they approached Tom, that was still standing in the same place, not moving an inch even when the guards neared toward him, in fact, he didn't even bother looking at them as he kept looking in the king's eyes.
He knew that those guards approaching him weren't small fry by any measure, they were mid-level 2 and there was even one that was a mid-level 3, but how could he concentrate on those guards when the one he came here to fight was much more powerful than them.
Seeing that the intruder didn't even bother to look at them actually pissed off the guards, but even then, they didn't recklessly rush toward Tom to attack him.
In their minds, they thought that someone that seemed so confident must surely have something up his sleeve, and they were quite right about that, but unfortunately for them, even with their caution, the moment they were just a few meters from Tom, he suddenly looked at them with a light smile and said :
"Temporal stasis"
The moment he uttered those words, all the guards came to a sudden halt, their bodies not moving even an inch.
'What the-'
'Why I can't move'
'what is happening '
The guards were shocked by their current situation and quickly became alarmed when their bodies no longer responded to them, but it seemed that they couldn't do anything about it.
Even the king was shocked at this unbelievable sight, his always calm and indifferent face giving way to curiosity, but it quickly turned to a frown when the shadows of those guards moved and transformed into hands that hit the guards at the back of their heads, causing them to collapse on the ground, out cold.
Seeing this, the king squinted his eyes for a moment before smiling.
"Midas, it seems that you have finally decided to act, huh?" Said the king.
As he was saying it, Tom's shadow moved and an old wisemonkey came out of it.
When he came out, Midas turned to the king and bowed with respect.
"My king-"
"Stop that nonsense old fool, I knew that you never really thought of me as your king, and I also never really bought your act of being devoted to me, I was even sure that you would betray me one day, it seems that this day finally arrived" said the king with the same smile.
"Well, I guess I'm not as good an actor as I thought" replied Midas with a chuckle.
"Clearly"
After this exchange of words, the tent descended into silence till...
"Sooo, now that each of you said his punchline and acted cool, can we start the fight ?"
"...."
"...."
After Tom's words, another silence settled in the room, but instead of the tense silence from moments ago, this one was an awkward one.
"Sigh, you really should know how to read the room, kid" said Midas.
"Yeah, yeah, let's just start already" replied Tom, rolling his eyes.
"You shouldn't be so excited, you should be cool-headed and-"
"I orde-"
As he was speaking to Tom, the king tried to use his control over Midas to order him, but before he could even finish his order, Midas dissolved in the shadows, making him escape the control of the king.
"Sneaky old bastard" chuckled the king, seeing this.
He knew that now that Midas was in the shadows, he couldn't order him to do anything anymore, but he wasn't worried about that.
He slowly stood from his throne, then looked at tom with the same smile.
"You seemed quite excited a moment ago, then how about we start ?" Asked the king.
"That's all I have been in waiting for".
