Rachel remained silent as she followed Nick outside the luxurious hotel, where a sleek black sports car awaited them.
"I drove here," Rachel finally spoke, her voice barely above a whisper, laden with the weight of the evening's events.
Nick nodded calmly. "I'll arrange for someone to bring your car to your house," he assured her as he walked over to the car and courteously opened the door for her.
After a moment of hesitation, Rachel got into the car, and Nick joined her in the driver's seat. The initial silence in the car felt oppressive to both of them, and Nick found himself compelled to break it.
"I understand you've been through a lot tonight," Nick began cautiously. "But I have to ask, was that person in the hotel room a friend or a lover? Cause I'm guessing you're too smart to go into a hotel room with a total stranger."
