"DAMN IT, FU*KING HELL."

[Not so easy running a religion, huh?]

'Shut it'

"It's fine, yeah, it's fine."

[Delusions]

'I'M TRYING TO THINK, AMIRA.'

[Fine, I will be quiet.]

"Okay, tell everyone to stick in this dukedom and not to leave; we need to further solidify our hold on this land."

May was sitting in her office at the headquarters of the church, and in front of her was a line of high priestess and priests, all looking at May with worship in their eyes. With May's orders given, the line of High Priestess and Priests gave their praise and left.

'Fu*k'

May was unsure of what to do. Everything is going to sh*t. At first, everything was easy. She managed to convert three villages and one town. Her merchants were doing great, but then everything changed. The greedy Duke took notice of us and tried to suppress us, and it worked. All of a sudden, our merchants were being attacked by hordes of bandits and monsters left and right, and then our paladins and priestesses were found killed and violated. It was a message that May responded to in kind, but May was losing the war with the Duke.

So with no other option left and to save the religion that was crumbling around her, she made a deal with the Duke that stated, 70 percent of the merchant's profit will go in his pockets, and the religion will have to pay an increased tax, but he will not limit, sabotage, or suppress the religion.

The Duke kept to his word, and so has May, and before May knew it, the whole dukedom was praying to Amira, but then another problem popped up.

The other churches

They took notice of us and started suppressing us, stopping us from expanding out of the dukedom, they even send there emissaries to try to convert our people back to the' arms of the Light Gods ', they stared spreading all kind of rumours even called us a cult which we sort of are but not the point the point was they were doing everything in there power to destroy us and it was Fu*king bullsh*t,but May was very lucky she focused on her foundation in the beginning or their efforts of converting the believers of Amira, would have been more successful.

Then the cold war started, when the paladins of other churches entered the dukedom, they were attacked by a mob of angry citizens and paladins from the religion of Amira. After all, no one likes someone that spreads rumours about your pope and god, right?

But we also can't leave the dukedom; it doesn't matter who tries to leave, be it a merchant, priest, or random citizen, their heads are always sent back to us.

May never knew that churches are so merciless that they even kill random citizens that just follow my religion, but it was war, she understood.

But now things have turned from bad to worse. May got a message from the greedy Duke that the church is planning to invade and 'deal with the cult that is 'brainwashing people'. May knew that this was true, as it perfectly aligned with her reports of a large gathering of Paladins to the west—fu*king hypocrites.

There was not much May could do now; her church has 400 members, 100 of whom are priests and priestesses, and only 20 of them can use magic. There are also 300 paladins who are bearly trained, and even if she counts the 200 kobolds and herself, she is still no match for 1200 enemy paladins.

'Sigh'

"So that leaves only one option."

May opened her desk and pulled out a white orb. She pushed mana into it and envisioned the smug face of the person she was trying to reach.

The object that May was using was called an orb of projection; it was like a cellphone, but it was only for the rich and powerful as it costs a butload of money.

May didn't even have to wait a second for the other end of the call to connect.

"Pope Paker" [hehe]

"Duke Shawcross"

"To what do I owe this pleasure?"

"I require assistance in defending the church from the attacks of other churches; I am willing to pay."

"Haha!" The Duke laughed in May's face, and when he saw May was serious and was still expecting an asnwerd he started talking.

"Pope Paker I am a member of the state and can't interfere in matters of religion.

"Bullsh*t" May interrupted the Duke as she knew the old man had his hands in many pies, some of which were not so legal.

"Nothing, I will deal with it myself." While May wished to end the call and start to focus on making a plan of defence, the Duke ended up stopping her.

"Don't be so hasty, Pope Paker. I never said I wouldn't help; I only said I am unable to help without a justified reason."

"And what reason would be justified?" May asked with venom dripping from her tone; she knew that the old fox was planning something.

"Well, a justified reason for me to interfere would be that the church was trying to attack my future daughter-in-law. Only then would I be allowed to interfere."

And there it was his goal. May was about to reject and face the church by herself, but the Duke had more to say.

"Before you reject this idea, take the time to think about it. You would have 40000 troops ready to defend your little cult. At a moment's notice, you would have status all noble ladies envy, and let's not forget that the Church of Light won't be able to touch you, and all you have to do is marry my son. It's a good deal, right?"

May was tempted by the offer. Having 40000 troops to defend means that the church would not be able to use the pretence of cleaning up a cult to deploy their troops, and the king would never allow a civil war, so that would mean that May would be mostly free to do what she wished, but she really did not wish to marry the waste of space that only knew how to drink and spend his time on who*es, but still, it was a tempting offer. She would even be able to poison all of the Shawcross family and inherit the land, it was really a tempting offer .

"I will think about it." With that, May closed the projection.

[You're not really thinking of marrying that slob, are you?]

'Oh god, no, I'm thinking about how to take everything from them.'

'But even if I kill them, I would still need a claim to inherit the title of dutchess, so the only way is to marry the fat sh*t and kill him and his entire family the night of the wedding, but still, ugh'

[Why not fabricate a claim to this land?]

'The king would never allow anyone who is not part of the Shawcross family to rule these lands'

[...]

'Knock'

'Knock'

May was pulled from her thoughts by the knock of the door.

"Enter"

With May's voice, a priestess entered May's office. She bowed to May and then started talking.

"Your holiness, you have a visitor."

"Who is it?"

"The First Born Daughter of Duke Shawcross, Gwendolyn Zara Shawcross"
