Chereads / Magic Of The Dragon God / Chapter 5 - Separated

Chapter 5 - Separated

I saw a man in the distance with a black cloak, the same one I could remember, walking closer and closer to us as we stared. As we sensed danger, we prepared for a fight.

"Who are you?!" Ains asked,

"..."

With no reply, the man had completely disappeared into the darkness. Suddenly, he attacked us with some sort of light magic which completely blinded me. After regaining my vision, I looked around. I was on an island. The island didn't have any human population and seemed to be crawling with wilderness and monsters. It was lush green as far as my eyes could reach.

I looked around and saw Alice was right behind me. However, Ains and my other subordinates are not. I tried to use illusion breaking magic only to realize that this was no illusion. This is reality. We've been stranded on an island and can only imagine the best for my comrades. I hope that at the very least, they are together. That would increase their chance of survival.

"Alice, be on guard. We've been separated from the others and stranded on this unknown island." I warned,

"Yes master,"

We don't know how long we'll have to stay here. Thanks to our levels, we won't need food or water to survive. I can go ten years without food and water and Alice may be able to go for about seven and a half years. Either way, food is not a major issue right now. We need to find a way out of this place.

As we ventured deeper and deeper into the island, we found more monsters and wild animals. I decided that we should avoid engaging in combat as long as we possibly can to save our energy in case of an emergency battle.

After venturing for hours, the sun began to set. It seems we would have to spend the night here. I told Alice to look for a safe place where we could sleep tonight.

"Master, I found a place to spend the night."

"Let's go then."

We left within seconds. It was about a mile away, but we reached it within three seconds at our current speed.

The place I was escorted to was a safe and quiet place. Sensing no danger, I decided that we should spend the night here. I initially planned to set a campfire here, but there is no need for us to do that. Our body can withstand any temperature. Besides, with our night vision, we won't have a hard time looking around and we'll attract less monsters.

I used my magic to make a bed of stone. It wouldn't be quite comfortable sleeping here, but we don't have a choice. I made two spacious beds.

After lying down for about an hour, I couldn't fall asleep. I got up and looked towards Alice and found her sleeping peacefully. I walked to her bed. I took off my cape and spread it across Alice's body to act as a blanket. Just because we can endure any temperature doesn't necessarily mean that it would be comfortable. It's my duty to protect my subordinates after all. I can endure the cold, I'm not gonna freeze.

In any case, I'm gonna take a short walk around the area. Would it really be safe for me to just leave Alice here alone while she's asleep? I thought,

If anything were to try and harm her, she would be able to manage it. However, this island is still an unknown place to us, so we shouldn't be too overconfident.

I casted a barrier spell to keep monsters and anyone or thing with hostile intent from entering the area.

After creating a border, I reassured myself and started exploring the area.

The night was beautiful, in a quiet place like this, the sky was starry while fireflies enlightened the area. The trees were visible without having to use night vision thanks to the gorgeous full moon.

As I was walking around, admiring the beauty of nature, I stumbled upon a weird staircase leading underground. What a rare sight, where could this lead to? I asked myself,

I remembered its exact location and noted it on the map after realizing that this island is called the island of mystery. I found this out by matching the layout of the island on the map with the one I was in.

I decided that it was time to head back. I was also getting worried about Alice for some reason. I headed back as quickly as possible. Upon returning, I saw that Alice was safe. With a sigh of relief, I also headed to bed.

Waking up, I told Alice about the weird stairs that I saw yesterday. However, as we went looking for it, we found nothing. I'm sure it was right here where I'm standing right now.

With a worried look, Alice said, "Master, I've heard rumors about the time temple, where the history can be altered. According to the rumors, the stairs leading to the temple only appear during the night."

"In other words, this may be what we've been looking for. Let's check it at night."

"As you wish."

However, if this truly is the temple of history, we wouldn't be able to achieve anything without the red and blue artifacts. But we should still at least confirm if it will spawn at the same location again and again.
