Chereads / Magic Of The Dragon God / Chapter 6 - An Unexpected Reunion

Chapter 6 - An Unexpected Reunion

The day was unusually quiet. This island is supposed to be filled with monsters lurking around even in the middle of the day as the trees cover the sunlight to create a dark atmosphere.

It was odd. The feeling was unnatural and it made me tense. Alice also seemed to be having a hard time trying to understand the reason behind the peaceful environment.

It might be the calm before the storm, I thought.

Feeling unease, Alice kept close to me while holding my cape. I could see she was uncomfortable. In an attempt to reassure her, I tried to hold her hand,

"Alice,"

"Yes, master?"

"And I've told you this before, please stop calling me master."

"Huh..? B-but then… What should I call you?"

"My name."

"W-what?!"

"You didn't forget it, riiiight~?"

"N-no, of course not! I remember it, H-Hevop!"

"It's that easy. Come on, give me your hand."

"Yes, ma- I mean, Hevop."

As I held her hands, I realized that it was cold and trembling. Is she really okay? I wondered.

I looked at her face from the corner of my eyes. I had a feeling that she was feeling physically unwell, so I stopped for a moment and checked for fever.

As I brought my hand close to her forehead, she seemed to be turning red. I'm not that dull, I know that my subordinates admire me, however, this may also be a sign of fever, I should check just in case, I thought to myself.

I knew it, she has a fever. It is impossible for someone like Alice to feel fear, after all. However, it should also not be possible to get a fever that easily for someone with her level.

Suddenly, I felt a chill run down my spine. The unusual fever and the unnaturally quiet environment, my instincts began screaming as the sensation of danger kept increasing.

I started feeling it too, a slight fever, slowly rising. Soon enough, I blacked out and so did Alice.

***

I opened my eyes and found a male warrior sitting beside me. My instincts told me that he doesn't have any hostile intent. He was a guy with a scar on his face. His hair, white. A middle aged man who seemed to be just below Alice in terms of strength. As for age, my in-game age was more than five hundred years, so he was much younger than me, as compared to my other life's age, he was older.

As I turned towards the warrior, I realized that he was wearing knight armor which brought back memories. Blue eyes, white hair, the scar on his face, the dark armor with a touch of dark red fur from a blaze wolf…

"Long time, old friend."

"I knew it, it was you, Arthur."

Arthur; a Legend-God tier Knight with a black armor and a black sword as long as Arthur himself. One of my comrades from the war against Avos.

"Where is Alice?"

"She's okay, she's in another room right now. I intentionally separated you two so that I would be able to sleep peacefully at night. I didn't want to wake up in the middle of the night and hear 'sounds' coming from the room." He said as he looked at me with disappointment.

"Just what the hell kind of a guy do you think I am?! Anyways, when did you get thrown into this world?"

"Rude, I was carefully selected to be incarnated into this world."

"In other words, you were thrown in here."

"F**k you."

"Heh, you never change. Do you know what's going on?"

"Yeah, the history bullcrap."

"I think I might've discovered the entrance to the temple of history though." I said,

"Well, you found it second. I've already seen it countless times. It only appears during the full moon at the same place every time. But it's useless without the Artifacts."

"That's true. Wait, do you live here?"

"I always prefer the wild, you know this!"

"Then, can you explain why we fainted?"

"Because, in this island, after the night of the full moon, weird gasses are emitted which makes everyone sick, the monsters also mysteriously disappear with no signs left behind. A simple barrier could protect you, but I guess you didn't even know, Mr. Void Legend," Arthur said with a mocking expression.

"I'm guessing people don't know where the gasses come from and how the animals and monsters disappear?"

"Hence Why it is known as the island of mysteries."

That made sense. The disappearance of the creatures as well as the unusual fever. It was all coming together now.

"I don't want to keep lying around."

"Whoa there, you sure you should be getting up? The fever's still there. Fever never happens to us under normal circumstances but when it does, it'll take its time. I know you've got that big ego of yours to feed-"

"Once again, just who the hell do you think I am?! I consider myself to be very humble, polite and kind." I said proudly and jokingly

"Oh, F**K OFF!"

"I deserved that one. But seriously, I'm gonna get up now, my fever is not completely gone, but I think I can walk. I need to check on Alice."

"Oho? We care that much huh?"

"Thanks for saving us, but if you begin freely sharing your opinions, I might scoop your eyes out and feed it to my shadows." I threatened with a warm smile.

His expression suggested that he almost wet his pants.

"Showwy" He apologized like a child.

"Yeah, yeah, shut up for a minute."

I walked to Alice. I touched her forehead and she still had a higher fever than me.

"I'm gonna take care of Alice, you take some rest. I don't want you drugging her after all."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever, I'm off then. Good luck with your girlfriend." I felt like throwing one of the knives I had equipped on my belt, but I managed to control the urge.
