Destiny sat on his bed with his back slouched. He was not going to school, he has just taken his depression drugs and was going to see his therapist later in the day. He squeezed his eyes shut panting. His nightmare was back again, Faith. She was killing him gradually and he was sure she knew. She knew exactly what she was doing to him.
But does he deserve it ?Does he deserve the affliction she was causing?
He could not answer .She was going to definitely kill him.
Destiny let out a deep sigh and laid on his bed, curling his legs. How many days had he missed school? Was it four or seven days? He could not remember. After that incident he hadn't been himself. He had not even stepped his legs into the school premises. He had been lost in his own self. All thanks to Faith for putting him in this condition and continually opening the wounds , the memory he was trying to suppress.
He heard the door open then someone walked into his room. It must be his mother, there was no one else anyway. The person sat next to him on the bed and touched his shoulder, Destiny turned to face his mother smiling at him carrying a tray of food on it.
"My baby come and eat"she said.
Destiny shook his head ,"I'm not eating ,aunty Lily."
His mother's smile was starting to disappear, "please", she muttered.
Destiny looked at his mother, her eyes were swollen. She had obviously been crying because of his recent state, he didn't want that.He hated to see tears on his mother's face. The suffering she was passing through as a single mother was enough for her. She was going through a lot, depriving herself of so many things , things that women of her thirty two years of age were supposed to have, just to satisfy him first.
She had gone through a lot from when she was pregnant of him at the age of sixteen being a victim of rape, the strictures rendered on her by her parents and even the society telling her that she was a liar and just used rape as an excuse for her carelessness with boys.
As a result, she ran away from home with an unborn child. Then comes surviving, it was really hard for her in the street. When he was born ,she never allowed him to call her 'mother'. She didn't want unnecessary questions from people and he got used to it till he grew up calling her 'aunty Lily', the short form of Lilian.
Destiny sighed,"okay I'll eat. And please stop crying aunty Lily. It won't solve anything, don't worry I'll be fine and I'll resume school, okay?"
His mother sniffed,"okay".
Destiny managed a smile and collected the tray from his mother and began to eat, he knew his mother wouldn't leave until he finished everything on the plate.
When he was done he gave the tray back to his mother.
"Thank you, aunty Lily"
"You are welcome. Take a nap before we go to the therapist later. Okay?".
"Okay. And please shut the door while leaving"
The mother nodded and left.
Destiny sat on his bed holding his bedsheets tight. Here she comes! Faith!!
