Faith was a beautiful girl, Destiny loved her smile. He loved the way her dimples pushed in whenever she smiled. She was like the sister he never had. She had been his friend since childhood. They grew up together, attending the same primary school, going to church together, joining the choir together, and then attending the same secondary school. They had always planned on entering the university the same time in the same school and then getting married the same day and probably once in a while, they will host a party with their supposed partner and children together to have fun and talk about good old times with a smile.
Destiny smiled at the remembrance of those things he shared with her. Would he ever forget her? She wouldn't even allow him do such.
He turned to the other side of the bed to find Faith staring at him. She was smiling. That smile that was so pure and angelic. Destiny dozed off.
........
He woke up with a scream leading his mother into his room with a rush.
"What is it?!", she shouted.
Destiny was panting , beads of sweat was on his forehead.
"What is it?", his mother asked again with fear.
Destiny shook his head. His mother frowned,"tell me what's it?. You can't wake up screaming for nothing".
Destiny took a deep breath, " it's her".
His mother sighed and sat next to him," it's not your fault that she .....errhm. Don't blame your self. She is gone ,she is gone and not coming back .Try to understand that and it's never your fault."
Destiny began to sob,"I feel like my head is going to split into two. I....I .... don't know ..... I'm sick of everything. Sometimes I just feel like I should follow her...."
"God forbid", his mother interrupted immediately.
Destiny stared at his mother ,"I'm sorry." He swallowed spit,"I love you ,aunty Lily".
"I love you too. Don't ever think of following her. She's gone , we only have to keep the memories we've shared with her safe in our hearts", his mother sighed," I miss her too.Everyone misses her. Don't kill yourself because of that incident. Well, you're starting school next week."
Destiny mouth fell agape, "I'm not prepared!"
"I'll get you prepared . Your school has called me hundreds of times for you to resume. Mid term tests has ended and you missed, you need to be in school. Please."
Destiny nodded.
"Please have some rest, let me go and prepare dinner, okay?".
"okay".
His mother left the room , closing the door behind her. Destiny pressed his lips together. School. How was it going to look like when he resumes? Would have the students forgotten? Would a stigma be on him? Shayo would have obviously been redrawn out of the school. But if he eventually sees her, he would squeez life out her like the way she watched Faith's.
He looked at his wardrobe, where had he even throw his uniform? He couldn't remember. He had to search for it , wash and iron it for school the next week. And especially, barb his bushy hair, he looked rough with his hair like that.
Destiny smiled, if Faith was with him, she would have followed him to the barbing salon and watch him get his hair cut.But she wasn't.And would never be again.
His smile faded. She just went for nothing because of a foolish misunderstanding by Shayo. If there was any word more deeper than hate, that was what he had for Shayo. He would never ever forgive her. She was a murderess who was supposed to be locked in a juvenile prison, away from people but was out in the open because her parents did so. Defending her with their money and influence instead of admitting the crime their daughter committed.
Destiny's mouth squeezed with emotions. He wanted to cry and badly throw something, just anything to ease what he was feeling. He picked up a blade beside his bed and began to tear himself.
He had promised his mother not to self harm himself again but the urge was too strong to subdue.
He left himself bleeding and went to sleep. There was this abnormal calmness, peace that set in when he tears himself, it gave him the opportunity to sleep without nightmares. To sleep like a baby with no worries or fear of Faith's spirit hovering around him.
