Chapter 3 - Breaking ice

Liam and Leo ran in the middle of the heavy and stormy rain. They dashed to Liam's house, soaking from head to toe. When Liam opened the door, Leo flung himself into his home. Both their clothes were dripping and stuck onto their skin. Liam shut the door and both of them stared at each other and sighed.

"I didn't expect it would suddenly rain."Leo sighed while Liam sat on the floor."It was so sunny earlier...So...unexpected..."

Liam nodded and switched his gaze to the window.

"I don't think it would stop for quite some time..." Liam said while Leo nodded."Why not stay here for the night?"

"Thanks! Tomorrow then our adventure starts!"

"Ya..."Liam replied in a low tone but soon swapped his voice in a shocked manner."What are you doing?!"

"Taking off my shirt, duh. You don't want to wear such drenched, uncomfortable clothes, right?"

"Go into the bathroom first! Damn you!"

Liam pushed the shirtless Leo into the bathroom and slammed the door shut.

"You better not come out!"Liam shouted at him when he saw the doorknob twist."I'm going to bring you some new clothes! I'm not sure if it is suitable for you!"

"Alright..."Leo replied while walking around the bathroom and waiting for his clothes.

He sat on the bathtub's side and twisted the faucet. Warm water slowly filled the tub, he was staring at the water until the door knocked.

"Your clothes are here."He heard Liam say from the other side of the door."I put them on the stool beside the door, take it when you're done."

"Alright," Leo said as he opened the door and took the clothes.

He glanced around the room, expecting to see Leo but he was gone.

"Strange..."He mumbled as he closed the door and began his warm bath.

After some time...

Leo came out of the room while rubbing his hair with a towel. He was wearing a pair of shorts that seemed a little tight for him but to him it was alright. He was not wearing a shirt while he looked around the place but there was no sight of Liam.

He wondered if he had walked outside but it was impossible since it was still raining cats and dogs. After looking around the whole house and still not finding a single soul, he decided to search for him outside.

The moment he opened the door, in the corner of his eye, he saw a silhouette sitting on the side of the door. He instantly switched his gaze to it and saw Laim, sitting there drenched in rain.

"What are you doing?!"He yelled as he pulled him in, he pulled him like he was taking a feather very swiftly.

He pushed Liam into the house and shut the door.

"Why were you outside?!"He asked, worriedly."You can get sick you know! How are we going to go on our adventure when that happens?!"

"It's nothing..."Liam replied while rubbing his eyes.

As Leo was about to open his mouth again, he noticed Liam's eyes were red and puffy, usually caused by crying. He didn't notice when Liam was sitting in the rain with a mixture of his tears and rain running down his cheeks.

Leo understood the reason he sat outside but why and what is he crying about? He was fine a while ago but what made him like this when he was bathing?

Both of them stared at each other, silently while not saying a single word nor making a sound. Until Liam moved to a wardrobe and took some clothes out then headed to the bathroom.

Leo sat in an armchair while guessing about the reason for his expression.

After about half an hour, he heard the door creak and Liam stepped out of the bathroom. He was fully dressed in his pajamas and was rubbing his hair with a towel. He glanced up and looked at Leo in the eyes and then noticed he was shirtless.

"Why...Why the hell aren't you wearing a shirt?!"He yelled in shock while blushing slightly.

"Bro chilled down. We're both men."Leo said while his hands were doing an action, which you would do when trying to calm someone down.

"I don't care! Just wear the damn shirt!"

"I can't! it's too small!"

"Huh?! How big are you?!"

"Now that I think about it..."Liam continued in a sudden thinking tone."You're bigger than me...That's how you flung me into my house so easily."

"Well...that's what you should expect from a swordsman!"Leo said while flexing his muscles.

"How old are you anyway? In your twenties or what?"

"Huh?! How the hell?! Do I look twenty to you?! Do you even know how to match people with their appearance and age?! I'm 19!"

"Well...you don't seem like it...At least to me..."

"Then what about you? You seem like you are around the same age as mine."

"Nope!Not when close! I'm 15!"

"Your face doesn't look like it."

"Same with yours."

"Respect your seniors, can you?"

"Sure, old man."

"You little! You're going to regret it the moment I get my hands on you!"He yelled as he chased Liam around the house while Laim would sometimes try to block his path by using some furniture.

After all their energies were drained out of their body, they lay tiredly on Liam's bed while panting breathlessly.

"I'll let you off this time!"Leo said while staring at Liam in the eyes.

"Thanks!Old man!"Liam laughed and Leo sighed.

Leo looked at his joyful face and thought. It was just an hour ago he was crying but now look at him smiling so brightly.

Leo unknowingly smiled and Liam noticed. He turned his head to Leo while looking at him in confusion.

"What is it? Is there something on my face?"Liam asked while wiping his face.

"Nope, there's nothing."Leo chuckled while Liam tilted his head, invisible question marks floating above his head.

"Then why do you keep staring at me?"

"Nothing!"

"You're weird sometimes..."Liam turned his body in the opposite direction from him, not wanting to continue their conversation.

"I get that a lot," Leo replied then faced himself to the ceiling and slowly drift into slumber.
