Chapter 7 - I don’t believe in love

Calla walked upstairs to their bedroom, she had already informed her assistant that she was taking the day off in order to get some things done in her new home.

She was about going back downstairs when her phone rang.

"Hey mum, how are you doing today?." She asked in a cheerful tone.

"Am doing just fine over here, but I miss you so much." Her mother whined from the other end of the phone.

"I miss you too, mum. I will find time to be come visit, maybe during the weekend." She wasn't sure if she would be less busy by the weekend but she had to say something to cheer up her mum, since she couldn't allow her come over.

"Okay, I would be expecting you, say hi to Davis for me."

The call came to an end after much discussion about her marriage and how her relationship with Davis was going.

She then went downstairs and saw Lola discussing with a tall middle aged man. She walked up to them.

"Good morning Mrs Williams." The man bowed to her as a sign of respect, when he saw her. She was a little bit embarrassed by the way everyone was treating her since she came Davis wife.

"Good morning." She responded, waiting for the man to introduce himself properly.

"I am Charles Walker, the butler."

She looked at him with a puzzled expression, if he was the butler then why wasn't he at their wedding and also why wasn't he at home when she arrived yesterday?.

As if reading her thoughts, Charles spoke.

"You see ma'am, the boss sent me on an errand, so I couldn't make it to your wedding yesterday." He sounded really sorry for missing the wedding.

She smiled warmly at him, "it's no biggie Charles, it must have been important matter that you had to take care of."

He already liked his master's choice of a wife, she was such an understanding woman's

"Thanks for understanding." He responded, not even for once did he smile throughout their conversation.

"Sorry Charles, I would like to borrow Lola for sometime." She said hoping he would understand.

"Of course, she is all yours." He responded, motioning for Lola to follow the new madam.

After they were gone from Charles, Lola asked.

"Do you need anything, Ma'am?."

Calla didn't like the way Lola was addressing her, so she said.

"Call me Calla."

Lola was shocked. She couldn't address her boss's wife by her name, if he found out, then, she would be dead.

He had already informed Charles to punish her and Nina for agreeing to let his wife cook.

"Sorry ma'am, but I can't do that. I would get punished if the boss found out." She sounded really worried.

Calla now understood her fears, it seemed everyone in the house was afraid of Davis, just like she was back in high school.

She had to deal with this man soon, in order to stop him for putting more fear into his workers.

"Don't worry about my husband, you work for me now, he doesn't have any right over you anymore, so you just have to do as I say." She rubbed the girl's hair gently.

"Okay, Calla."

"That's good." She was glad she was able to convince her to stop addressing her in such an awkward manner.

Under Calla's instructions, Lola took her to the garden.

She stared at the massive garden with admiration. She had never seen such a beautiful garden in her life. The flowers were so beautiful and well taken care of. She walked towards a blooming rose and picked it up.

She handed it over to Lola.

"This is for you."

Lola couldn't believe her eyes. Why would Calla pick a rose and give it to her?

"Thanks Calla, but why give to me?." She was obviously confused.

Calla took her hands in hers.

"Do you believe in love?." She asked in a serious voice.

Lola nodded, she didn't know where all this was coming from.

"That's why I am giving this rose to you. You believe in love but I don't. Isn't a rose a symbol of love?."

Hearing calla's words, Lola gasped in shock.

If Calla didn't believe in love, then why was she married to Davis?. This thoughts rang through her mind.

"But you are married to the boss, don't you love him." The shock was evident in her voice.

"I will tell you about that, another time." She said walking back into the house, all Lola could do was run after her.

As they were about entering the house, Calla stopped. "And one more thing, don't tell anyone about what I told you earlier, including Nina."

Lola simply nodded and they both entered the house.

They were both surprised to see a lot of people in the sitting room. They looked like designers since they were with magazines and different kinds of fabrics, they were also with a lot of dresses.

"Welcome Mrs Williams." A beautiful lady with a British accent greeted her.

"I am the designer that has been specially assigned to you by the CEO to dress your for tonight's show."

Calla was lost for words. What the hell was this woman talking about?.

Tonight's show?

She got a beep from her phone. She looked at the screen and saw that Davis had sent her a message.

"My company is launching a new diamond necklace and they want you to be the first to wear it, thereby making you the model for tonight's show."

She read the text over and over again. She has never been a model before, and now all of a sudden, they want her to be a model for their necklace. How on earth was she supposed to do that.

She was about sending a message to him, that she wasn't going to do it, but he sent another text.

"Please."

She was stunned, did this man just beg her?

Her initial thoughts of rejecting the offer disappeared.

She just sat down like a robot and let the designers work their magic on her.
