Just as they were about to enter the criminal's den, Calla's phone rang, making all of them halt.
"Damn it! Why didn't I leave it at the office?." She cursed as the name 'My husband' displayed on the screen.
She walked away from Liam and Stacey before answering the call.
She answered the phone knowing that if she didn't, he would keep calling her.
"Where are you." He asked in a cold tone.
'Geez, what's wrong with him?.' She said to herself.
"I went out to grab lunch with Stacey." She lied, but she immediately regretted it because of his next question.
"What restaurant are you, I will be there in a few minutes."
"No! Don't come." She said hurriedly.
"Why?." He asked skeptically.
"B-because I will be there soon." She couldn't believe she just stuttered.
He raised an eyebrow, she never stuttered before, she must be lying.
"I give you five minutes, if you aren't here by then, I will come look for you anywhere and I will find you, no matter where you are." He said and hung up the call.
Cora offered him a seat at a corner, while he waited for Calla.
Calla stood still for a moment, five minutes? That wasn't enough time for her to kill someone and return to her office. She sighed deeply, she might not kill anyone now after all.
She turned back. "Let's go, guys, I have to be at the office in five minutes."
Liam and Stacey exchanged looks. They knew it was Davis who had called her but they weren't able to hear the conversation clearly, since she had walked away from them a little bit earlier before taking the call.
She drove using turbo mode, Stacey cheered to the building.
Liam didn't follow them, instead, he walked into the building. He wasn't planning on leaving without killing someone.
Marcus let out a sigh of relief as he heard the doing of the motorcycle, he was glad the madam had come back.
Calla immediately entered the building and she handed over the keys to Stacey to park the motorcycle properly.
Davis's eyes fell on her as she entered the building.
She looked so stunning in her all-black clothes, he secretly wondered why everyone in the studio was dressed in black.
The teenagers didn't greet her the way they had earlier done, they simply bowed to her, because Stacey had warned them not to address the boss in such a manner when they were guests around.
"You are five minutes late." He said casually.
"I am sorry, I couldn't beat the time." She sounded apologetic.
He massaged his head, which he had been doing more frequently since he married her.
"Let's go to my office, we need to talk." He said and took her hand, leading her outside the building.
He opened the car door for her and shout it when she was comfortably seated.
He signaled for Garcia and Marcus to take the other car, he was going to drive.
They nodded as they watched him drive away with his wife.
The was awkward silence in the car, Calla couldn't stand it anymore so she spoke.
"Can you tell me a little bit about why you want to talk about now?."
He glanced at her, then refocused on the road.
"Why weren't you at the office, when I came earlier?:"
Calla fell silent, so he hadn't bought her a lie earlier.
"I said I went to eat lunch with Stacey outside the office." She lied again.
"Which restaurant did you both visit?."
She sighed. "Why are you asking me all this?." She sounded annoyed.
"Just answer the question, Calla." His tone was cold.
"Silver Plates restaurant." She mentioned that restaurant because it was exactly a ten-minute drive away from her office.
"What did you order?." He sounded like a detective.
She raised an eyebrow at him. Why was he asking all these questions all of a sudden?
"My favorite of course." She said casually.
"I called the restaurant manager, he said you weren't there. Tell me the truth, Calla, where were you?." He sounded angry at her.
She fell silent for a moment. "I was angry so I went to the beach on the outskirts of the city to clear my head."
He let out a sigh, he knew that was the truth because Trevor had called him that he had seen Calla and Stacey at the beach when he w not cleared his head.
Luckily, he hadn't seen Liam.
"Thanks for telling me the truth, Calla, never lie to me or keep anything from me again, okay."
She nodded. "I won't."
He smiled at her, hopefully, she might tell him the truth about Amelie.
Davis led her to his VIP lounge in the building.
Calla's eyes fell on the table as soon as she entered the lounge, a lot of dishes were displayed on the table with a bottle of red wine.
She turned and looked at him. "You knew the truth from the start, didn't you?."
"Yeah, I did."
She smiled at him. "You wanted the truth from me, that was why you kept asking about it."
He smiled at her. "I don't like lies, I prefer you tell me the truth no matter what."
They both sat opposite each other.
"You must be hungry, I will serve you."
He put a lot of food on her plate and poured her a glass of wine.
She smiled at him. "Thanks, hubby."
She closed at mouth, how on earth did that come out of her mouth?
Hubby, Since when?
Davis froze as he heard her call him 'hubby' his mouth formed a smile. "You are welcome, wifey."
Calla covered her face in embarrassment, why did he have to tease her all the time?
She began eating the food without looking up at him, he watched her eat, and he smiled. He couldn't get enough of her, he loved watching her while she ate, he could do it forever.
She raised her head and looked at him. "Aren't you going to eat?."
He smiled at her. "Watching you eat, makes me satisfied."
Calla: "…"
They held each other's gazes for a moment and in the next second, his lips were on hers.
He kissed her passionately and hungrily, she returned the kiss.
After a long time of devouring each other's lips, Calla broke the kiss, her face was red, and she struggled to catch her breath. "Let's finish eating the food."
He smiled at her. "You are so cute."
"She blushed. "You are so handsome."
He looked at her in shock. That was the first time she was returning a compliment from him.
"Thanks, wifey."
After they were done eating, they both sipped their wine.
Then Davis dropped the bomb, that he had been holding since the meal started.
"Are you Amelie's biological mother?."
Calla gulped the wine in one go, she looked at him with shock written on her face.
Looking at her reaction, she saw something flash through his face. Disappointment, anger? She couldn't tell because it was so fast.
