"I can't save you. I'm not in that position to give you eternal life. I only give short moments of life from my life". His words made her feel hopeless and heartbroken.
"Then what can you do? Aren't you the one who said you were a giver of life? Will you watch me die when I desperately need to live?" She asked as more tears streamed out of her eyes, blood gushing from her nostrils.
"I only give months. I don't give eternity! If you badly want to live, you should have taken your medications without allowing it to reach this stage!" He half yelled at her.
"Mr. Devil, please give me twelve months to live. I promise to give you anything in return. Please give me a year to live". She pleaded as she stared at the wall, which showed the men were already there.
"Take my hands, and be ready to fulfil your promise by giving me everything I wanted". Derrick stretched his hands over to the lady, who took it almost immediately.
Taking his hands was her only mistake.
After she took her hand, she felt something suddenly enter her, and the pain she felt in her body was over.
"Please, can you disappear? Can you please take me to where my sister is?" She asked hastily after she regained her strength.
It felt odd, she didn't want to appreciate the man nor did she want to give him everything he wanted, but can anything worth her life, and her sister's life?
"No need to go there because I'm already there". The man said before he walked to the visitor seat at the bedside.
"Are you certain?" She asked, and Derrick nodded his head in agreement.
"I think I have to go and inform the doctor that I am alright". She was about to go, but Derrick's hand made way to hers as he stopped her.
Slowly, she raised her gaze before she shot him a deadly glare which was filled with hatred. She doesn't care if he saved her, she will never let him touch her the way he wanted.
The fact that he saved her doesn't stop her from hating him, it's a win-win.
'I will give him what he wants, and that makes it even. I owe him nothing, neither does he'.
"Why did you stop me?" She asked Derrick, who was smirking as he stared blankly at her.
He knew all that she just said inwardly, and despised her for that. To him, she isn't just ungrateful, but stupid. How can you think of the person who saved you that way?
"The doctor planned everything with them. He intended to kill you if you wake up". She burst into laughter as she heard Derrick utter those ill words of Doctor Steven.
"I don't care if you give me this darn life! Don't mingle with my affair! Don't dare try to pry! I hate it!" She took off his hand.
"If you were going to die again, I don't care, but since it is my life in that container you called a body, I have every reason to meddle!" He raised his voice at her.
Her mouth went agape as what she just heard. 'So I am now a container hosting the devil's life?' She asked herself.
She kept hating him every second that she wished she wouldn't come across him, and had no reason to strike a deal with him.
A deal that requires her giving anything, or everything.
"I am not going to die! Besides, aren't you going to protect me?" Trying to act cool, she asked slowly.
"I lost the power to protect. I can't protect anything. For now, the things I could do are shape-shifting, soul shifting, life giving, and many of them that you can't know". He echoed.
Feeling sad, she hissed. She pulled the door knob, about to go, but his words made her stop.
"What if I shift into Alena form? Will you believe me after confirming?" He asked with a convincing voice.
"I know my family doctor will never backstab us. Since you insist, let me give it a trial". She said warmly.
She found it funny. How can the devil say ill things about the man he doesn't know?
For almost twenty-five years, Doctor Steven has worked for Karen's family with so much effort, and sincerity.
How will Derrick expect her to believe those words just because he own life in her?
"Follow me". The voice sounds so much like that of Alena.
"Don't act nervous. Just watch me, and him". After he gave those instructions to her, they took the elevator to the doctor's office.
"Don't act nervous". For the last time, he instructed before he swung the door of the office open.
"Oh, Alena, why are you here this soon?" Doctor Steven, who was going through his patient's file, asked nervously as he shivered.
"I came back because I'm not sure whether you will be able to kill her as I wanted".
"Why shouldn't I? Besides, you should trust me on this. I will kill her when I am done going through this file, and she might be dead by now due to the injection". His hand shaking, he echoed silently.
"Why did you expect me to trust you after you failed to kill Melina? Do you think I will let the same mistake happen?"
The question made him frightened more as he immediately went on his knee. "I'm sorry. Please forgive me. I will never allow what happened four years ago to happen".
Derrick, who already knew Matilda would be outside crying out her eyes, ignored the pleas of Steven before he stormed out.
"I know you must be trying so hard to break into his office, and devour him like a beast, right?" With no ounce of pity in his voice, he uttered slowly.
"Why should it be him? Why? So, this is the reason my father, mother, and Melina died? So, it was all the doings of Alena, Fred, and Steven? What did my family do to warrant this?" While she asked those questions, tears streamed down her eyes.
