Chapter 14 - Your True Identity

Geoffrey stopped few steps away from the palace gate.

"Why stop here?, I want to introduce you to my father and tell him you saved my life, he will really be happy to see the one who saved his daughter's life, don't you think so? c'mon let's go". Agatha said urging him to keep going.

"Yeah it will be great, but this is the farther I can go, I'm sorry". Geoffrey said coming down from the horse and helping her down as well.

"So, you ain't gonna do it even for my sake". she asked making a sad face wanting him to change his mind.

"I'm prohibited from exceeding this point by my mother and I can't disobey her just because she isn't here with me".

he said refusing her yet again.

"I guess I was so adamant to see it from your perspective and I'm sorry for asking you to choose between your mother and myself, it was so selfish of me".

she said apologetically putting down her head.

"C'mon dear, you said so because you know nothing about it, you needn't ask for my forgiveness. he said bringing her face up by placing a finger beneath her jaw.

"but still, I made the mistake".

she said pouting.

"That's enough of it, now carry on while I watch you go in since I can't go with you".

he said with a smile moving his head signaling her to move. Agatha took some step forward but stopped and came back to him making faces.

"What's the matter now? go on".he urged not knowing her reason for coming back all of a sudden.

"Are we ever gonna meet again? I wish we will meet again soon". she said feeling either sad or anxious about their departure.

"There is always an another time, this is what my mom always tells me". he said placing a kiss on her lips with a smile.

"hope it happens soon". she said forcing a smile on her lips. Agatha kissed his cheek before leaving with a smile.

"Your highness". the guards at the gate greeted bowing in respect. Agatha raised her hand causing the to raise as she passed and head straight to the palace.

"Father, what secret are you talking about and please don't lie to me". Agatha asked once again after not receiving an answer to the first question. Johnathan adjusted on his throne, cleared his throat looking quite tensed.

"Agatha the thing is that there are step I took just to ensure the safety of the hair to the throne, you might see it as an evil deed but I did it to save a soul". Johnathan explained knowing it might come out the wrong way.

"Dad, what are you on about? you ain't making any thing clear to me". Agatha stated confused with the whole thing happening at the moment.

"it all began 18 years ago". Johnathan began to narrate.

"Erix, I need you to help me out, please I don't want to lose another son".

Johnathan said to Erix looking worried in the middle of the the night after Ulrika had put to bed.

"What is it that have brought you to my place by this time of the night?" Erix asked his friend in a concerned manner.

"it's about my son, Ulrika just gave birth to a boy and I don't want to lose him like I lost Geoffrey". he said putting his hands together in plead.

"But how can I help you in this case".

Erix asked confused.

"I heard your wife gave birth to a girl, we can interchange the kids, and I promise to take care of your daughter like my own and would give her all the protection and care like she deserves, and if raising my boy would cost you a lot then I can be sending you money on weekly basis, please I'm not begging you as an emperor or a king of this dynasty trying to protecting the hair to the throne but as a father and a friend who wants to protect his friend from arms way".

he said still pleading with him.

"I have heard you, but you know this isn't my decision alone, I will have to discuss it with my wife and get back to you". Erix replied sincerely.

"Okay then I will be waiting for your reply".

Johnathan said heading back to the Palace in a carriage rode by Lancelot.

Few days later, Erix came to the palace with his wife, carrying their child in arm.

"Your Majesty, we have decided to put our daughter into your custody and their by take your son as our responsibility until the time we return him to you". Sandra said, Erix wife. they handed over their daughter to them and carrying their son.

"Thank you Erix, I know I can't thank you enough for this, you shall name him Marcus". he said in gratitude.

"Name her Agatha and take care of our daughter for us, we shall get going before someone else notice what went on here".

Erix said leaving with his wife.

"So this is the secret you want to know, I'm really sorry for hiding such a thing from you Agie and I love you no less you know that right?" Johnathan asked after narrating what happened 18 years ago. Agatha fell on the floor as she couldn't believe the whole story she just heard.

"Father, tell me all this are lies, tell me you are joking that you didn't mean a word you said just now, Father please tell me that I am your daughter'. Agatha said weeping on the floor.

"I can't, I can't tell you they are false because it's the truth, I have always known I will have to tell you someday but didn't know it was gonna be like this".

Johnathan replied in a shattered heart.

"You mean that... I am ...I'm not your daughter?, that I don't belong to this family". she asked still trying to digest the whole situation.

"Yes my dear, your true identity is that which I told you, but you will always be a daughter to me and I can't deny the fact that he is your biological father". Johnathan said pointing at Erix who has been quite not knowing what to say or to whom to say the word to even if he had any. Agatha stood up from the floor and ran upstairs without saying another word.

"Agie!, Agie!" Johnathan called out but Agatha didn't listen to him weeping bitterly.

"What will I do now?, she is really hurt by all this, I'm such a terrible person ain't I Erix?" Johnathan asked with tears in his eyes feeling so dejected.

"Everything will be alright with time, she will understand it very soon, let's just hope she does so earlier enough". Erix assured looking up the stairs.
