Chapter 5 - Thousand-Year Spirit Beast

Determined, she immediately used her skills to fly towards the outer perimeter of the Starry Forest.

Three days later, Ye Die Die arrived at the outer perimeter. She had become much stronger compared to when she first entered the perimeter and could ignore most of the spirit beasts.

The place she arrived at was a swamp, where there was very little spiritual power, practically none, and she didn't sense any strong presence in the surroundings.

Just to be safe, she cautiously surveyed the area.

One day later...

"It seems there really isn't any danger here, so I'll stay."

After saying that, Ye Die Die took out the small grass and began amplifying it with her consciousness.

The grass became greener and emitted a pleasant fragrance, attracting some spirit beasts. However, due to the scarcity of spirit beasts in the vicinity and the swampy environment, no spirit beasts appeared.

Without hesitation, she used amplification once again. Although it wasn't her first time encountering this type of double-amplified grass, it still excited her.

After the second amplification, the grass looked even more beautiful, and it exuded a significant amount of spiritual power. Through amplification, this grass had completely transformed.

Ye Die Die held the grass in her mouth, careful not to let any trace of her aura leak, and then flew away from that place.

She had done this more than once, moving swiftly. Each amplification would trigger the frenzy of a spirit beast.

Having witnessed this scene many times, Ye Die Die was no longer surprised.

After flying far away from the swamp, she didn't leave the outer perimeter. Instead, she found a tree hollow in this area.

Inside the tree hollow, there was a resident. Ye Die Die carefully sensed it and discovered it was a hundred-year spirit beast. However, she was no longer afraid of such a spirit beast.

Although she didn't possess any attack-type soul skills, she had no fear facing a hundred-year spirit beast.

Ye Die Die flew to the side of the tree hollow, removed her disguise, and revealed her aura to the spirit beast inside.

The spirit beast in the tree hollow was a small squirrel that had been sound asleep. Feeling the aura, it instantly woke up.

Immediately sensing the source of the aura, it ran out of its tree hollow through the back door, not even caring about its own food, the pinecone.

As soon as the squirrel dashed out, Ye Die Die entered the tree hollow. It was clean inside and stored some pinecones. There were no strange smells, and it smelled pleasantly fragrant.

Inside the tree hollow, there was a small squirrel. It had been sound asleep and woke up instantly upon sensing the aura.

Immediately identifying the source of the aura, it dashed out through the back door of its tree hollow, not even bothering about its own pinecone food.

As soon as the squirrel fled, Ye Die Die entered the tree hollow. It was clean inside and stored some pinecones. There were no strange smells, and it smelled pleasantly fragrant.

Satisfied, she nodded approvingly. It seemed that the squirrel was quite clean.

Ye Die Die sat down in the tree hollow and began absorbing the energy from the small grass.

The small grass may have appeared insignificant, but it contained immense energy. With each breath of spiritual power she drew from the grass, it was equivalent to a day's worth of cultivation.

Inhaling and exhaling, she calmly absorbed the energy within the small grass. The barrier separating her from the level of a thousand-year spirit beast was gradually being broken, and even the smallest imperfections were being filled.

Soon, Ye Die Die felt herself reaching a bottleneck. As long as she broke through this barrier, she would be able to advance to become a thousand-year spirit beast.

Guiding the spiritual power within her body, she relentlessly attacked the bottleneck, time after time.

With the replenishment from the small grass, the spiritual power in her body remained abundant. Due to continuous assaults, her spiritual power carried even more momentum.

Finally, after countless breakthrough attempts, she managed to break through the barrier and become a newly promoted thousand-year spirit beast.

"Thank goodness. I succeeded. Otherwise, it would have been dangerous."

At this point, there was very little energy left in the small grass. If she hadn't succeeded in breaking through during these attempts, she would have had to wait for the next opportunity.

Using the remaining energy from the small grass, she quickly consolidated the foundation of her recent breakthrough, ensuring that there were no remnants of imperfections.

Ye Die Die could sense her own strength. The spiritual power contained within her was now twice as powerful as before.

After this breakthrough, her mental strength became even more formidable. Her current mental strength was definitely not weaker than that of a ten-thousand-year spirit beast.

The benefits of this breakthrough didn't stop there. She could now freely use her mental strength.

Before the breakthrough, she could only use her mental strength internally, enhancing her disguise. But now, things were different. Her mental strength could be used externally.

This meant that she could exert her mental strength on other spirit beasts. Although it might not necessarily cause harm, she could exert a certain degree of control. In times of danger, every second counted.

Ye Die Die said, "Finally, I have a hint of self-defense power."

After absorbing all the energy from the small grass, Ye Die Die stood up and left the tree hollow. She then headed towards her own home.

She had been living in her home for about three hundred years and had developed some emotional attachment to it. However, the spiritual power there was no longer suitable for her now.

Upon returning to her home, she packed up her belongings and continued flying deeper into the Starry Forest.

This time, she was heading to the outer periphery of the Starry Forest, which was the most dangerous place for spirit beasts.

For human soul masters, the most dangerous area in the Starry Forest was its core region.

However, for spirit beasts, the Starry Forest itself was the most perilous. It not only contained hundred-year spirit beasts aspiring to break through to become thousand-year spirit beasts but also numerous thousand-year spirit beasts and even some ten-thousand-year spirit beasts.

Although these ten-thousand-year spirit beasts might be weaker, having been driven out from the inner periphery by more powerful ones, they were still ten-thousand-year spirit beasts after all. They could easily deal with thousand-year spirit beasts.

The outer periphery of the Starry Forest was also known as the chaotic zone, where there were no laws, only massive killings. Spirit beasts died here anytime and anywhere.

Anyone who could break through this area and enter the inner periphery of the Starry Forest was undoubtedly a powerful individual.

This was where Ye Die Die was about to enter. She had to be extremely cautious, disguise herself diligently, and avoid being discovered by other spirit beasts.

The Starry Forest contained many medicinal herbs, but she had spent most of her time in cultivation. Even when she wasn't cultivating, she would just wander around her house.

This time, entering the outer periphery of the Starry Forest, she not only needed to find a suitable home but also needed to quickly deduce her future cultivation methods. Otherwise, she would be unable to continue her cultivation.

Quietly and silently, Ye Die Die flew towards the depths of the Starry Forest.

One month later...

Ye Die Die finally arrived at the boundary between the outer periphery and the chaotic zone. For a whole day, she observed the surrounding environment, diligently searching for a good home.

In the past month, she had ventured into the central area of the chaotic zone, but in the end, she retreated back to the boundary.

There were two reasons for this. Firstly, the central area of the chaotic zone was truly chaotic, with constant battles between spirit beasts and no peaceful place to be found.

Such a place was unsuitable for her cultivation. She needed to find a place with abundant spiritual power yet relatively peaceful to deduce her future cultivation methods.

Secondly, while at the boundary, she saw a type of spirit beast that excited her as soon as she laid eyes on it.

"I hope I can meet you."
