"How convenient." Moon said as he walked into the cover of the trees and was met with a wide-open field about ten steps after.
"Looks like one-" Moon said softly, as he sped his eyes over the empty muddy area with what seemed to be small tents made with sticks and the sack like fabric that the beginner clothes were made out of.
"-But somehow doesn't run like one." Moon completed as he looked around, like he was waiting for something to happen.
"Drop your weapons, child." A female voice enunciated in the distance. A subtle fog swept over the empty area so it was still hard to see much.
"Nahh, I don't really want to." Moon said, dragging his words as he tried to be witty. He looked around without a being on guard as he tried to be as condescending as possible.
A woman who seemed like she was in her mid-forties stepped into visibility and pointed above Moon.
"You really don't have much say in this, child. Drop your weapons." She said sternly, her chiseled features, short hair and lean but muscular physique making her seem masculine, her voice was the only giveaway.
Moon was curious enough to look up.
'Oh, the Legislator?' Moon thought, but the minute his chin elevated a small knife cut through the air, heading straight for his wind-pipe.
Moon noticed the knife slightly late but managed to move quick enough to ensure the knife only slashed the side of his neck as he ducked away.
He held the side of his neck as it bled out.
"You gave off the feeling of a veteran player. Did you really think I could control the Legislator this early?" The lady asked as she swiped the knife in the air to get the blood off of it.
"You'd be surprised with how fast things are going-" Moon tried to say before he was interrupted once more by the lady launching another attack. This time the knife was a couple centimeters
away from stabbing him in the eye.
Moon was agile enough to duck down out the way but happened to still be cut on his forehead.
Moon took advantage of his low position and fired a uppercut towards his opponents abdomen before leaping back and creating a wide distance to avoid any suprise attacks.
His opponent staggered back as she began to cough violently, but in a moment she regained her composure.
"I guess you wouldn't be surprised. Since you seem to already have a skill too. Also, it's obvious you've come in contact with the Legislator." Moon said. He understood that there were obviously default rules to a Territory, but none of them seemed to be active.
"Ooh. You must be very confident of your power level, because I doubt there's any other reason to think that except coming to the conclusion because you didn't instantly get control the minute you stepped in." The lady said as she let Moon's blood drip from the knife and she wiped her mouth.
"Nahh, not really. I didn't think you could hurt people in a Territory. Oh well, I guess we have to run it then." Moon said as he pulled his dagger out of where it was hidden.
The lady frowned and swiped the knife in the air again to get the blood off of it and she vanished out of Moon's line of sight and in seconds she was in front of him bracing to stab him again.
This time Moon anticipated it, but he wasn't quick enough to evade and counter attack so he simply had to parry.
He swung his dagger to and clashed with the knife, his strength was obviously greater so he expected to break her fingers or at least remove the weapon but that failed because of something Moon didn't consider.
Six arrows pierced into his back all at the same time as he saw the lady leap back to retreat.
"Tsk" Moon kissed his teeth in pain as he tried to move out the way but another rain of arrows showered him from head to toe.
"You were right. The game has changed, child. So favorably, that its almost like its all changed just to kill you!" The lady said as she held her wrist and rolled it around, it was sprained from the parry.
"You were never the type to adapt to anything very quickly. Soits great that we can kill you before you fully figure it out, Problem Child" Someone else said as Moon fell to a knee with arrows impaled all over his body.
Moon wheezed and gasped as he struggled to breath after the rain of attacks.
The lady and the archer conversed at a distance.
"His bounty hasn't even been created yet. How do you reckon we preserve him?" The lady said to the male archer.
"Bitch please, we don't need the money. Plus if we get the Title for killing him that's worth more than any currency." The archer boasted.
"And I killed the bastard too, I single handedly made this game better for everyone." He continued to say.
"With that bastard gone its going to be a good playth-" The archer said before an arrow went straight through his head and popped out the front of his head then falling face flat to the floor as his muscles started to spasm and vibrate.
The lady was horrified as she looked at Moon covered in blood and arrows holding a bow with a smile on his face.
"What a show." Moon sighed under his breath, his long curls completely stained in his dark red blood as he gripped a bow and arrow ever so tightly that blood dripped from it as well.
The lady stayed silent as she used the knife to cut into her palm and smeared the blood unto the blade.
"All these geezers just can't leave me alone." Moon said to himself. He dropped the bow and arrow into the mud and raised his hand slightly.
Immediately after the lady vanished from his line of sight, he expected it and the minute she appeared in front of him he stabbed the dagger into her face.
He wanted to stab into her head, but she was luckily a few centimeters back so it just went into the side of her cheek.
"I thought you were veteran. You'd know that no matter what, there aren't too many battle possibilities, if you are driven into a corner and have revealed all your cards you will be killed. Even if the game has changed, this is fundamental." Moon said as he ripped her mouth open by pulling the dagger out.
"Now you can smile like Vari, everyone always forgets to smile." Moon said as he pulled arrows out his body and picked the bow up.
"Did you know you could make a rule to literally kill any one with a level past a certain point in your territory. If you were smart enough, I'd have been dead the second I hopped in here. But nahh." Moon continued to say as he stared at the lady with blood spilling out the rip he made.
She vanished again and appeared right in front of him again but this time she managed to plunge the knife right into his side. She tried to pull away but was having trouble doing so despite Moons small and thin frame.
Moon smacked her across the face and then kicked her in the head before shooting an arrow into
her face at point blank range.
He left the knife in his side as he didn't want to lose any more blood than he had already due to his quickly reducing HP.
He stashed his dagger and slammed his palms into his face in frustration before walking into the actual living area of the territory.
He counted the tents; there were seventeen tents, he naturally expected it to be one per person and knew he had to expect at least nine more of these people.
"Wait! Oh fuck! I hope she didn't make a rule about how the default Ruler transition should happen." He exclaimed as he thought that he should've forced her to transfer Ownership of the Territory before killing her.
But the moment he had that thought, the lady took her last breath and exhausted the last bit of HP and ownership transitioned as smoothly as it should've.
「Territory Rulership Transferred
Basis: Next highly leveled Player within the Area of Jurisdiction.
Transferred to: Player; Moon」
"I guess she wasn't smart enough to think this far. To think I almost commended her too.
"Welp." He sighed as he called the system panel forth and fiddled around the new section that gave him almost admin like abilities over the territory.
He read through the benefits and expectedly saw that he and people he accepts into the territory will recover HP slowly over time.
He skipped through all of that and went straight to SUMMON LEGISLATOR and tapped on it without a moment spared.
A green glitch ripped through the ground and What seemed to be a statue of something that vaguely resembled a human rose out of it.
It had six arms, two of which were over its eyes, two holding a book and two down its side holding what seemed to be small daggers.
The being was made obviously out of stone and was in a crossed leg position as it levitated in front of Moon.
[What do you want?] It asked abruptly, interrupting Moons little moment.
"Rude." Moon said as he examined it.
"But you look different now, Chief." He continued to say.
[Wait, is that Jupiter I hear?] The Legislator asked as it floated about.
"It's Moon. M-O-O-N. You always forget." Moon replied.
[It is you. How unfortunate.] The Legislator said in reply.
"Yeah, it always is. Why do you look different tho." Moon said as he poked the head of the Legislator.
[Cease else you will be left without a head.] It replied as it floated away from Moon.
[I look different because the game changed. There isn't just one Legislator now. Theres multiple and somehow you were lucky enough to not meet the new ones.] It explained to Moon.
These two weren't allies in anyway, just two beings with an irrelevant connection.
"Ohhh. So, you got demoted and there's different Chiefs for every Territory. I guess I was lucky to get you..." Moon said with a child like smile on his bloody face.
'This bastard is scary.' The Legislator thought as it gazed at Moons gory face as he smiled despite all his wounds.
[I didn't get demoted bastard. Anyway, I shouldn't be this chatty this early. So, WHAT DO YOU WANT!?] It shouted, in fear for the most part but tried to pass it as frustration..
"Okay, okay. I hear you, Chief." Moon said as he sat in the mud and started to explain the changes to the rules he wanted to make.
…
[So many fucking Appeals! Are you trying to make a base outside the actual circle!?] The Legislator exclaimed.
"I have friends coming over. I have to fix up the place you know." Moon said trying his hardest to not let out a giggle as he fell all the way down on the mud, almost like he was exhausted.
"If idont die before they arrive. Shit those geezers did too much." Moon sighed as he stared at his profile as he watched his HP Drop three points and increase two. It wasnt the best but it slowed down the loss a lot.
He also felt a lot of pain despite the passive skill that offset sixty percent of pain and his stamina-which didnt regenerate because of the territory- was dropping even faster than his HP.
Moon laid there as the Legislator wizzed around the territory struggling to adjust all the things Moon demanded as it mumbled curses under its breath then Moon detected rustles coming from beyond the confines of the territory.
"NAAAAAYAAAAAA, YOU OLD HAG!!!! WE'RE BACK WITH THE SLABS!!!!!" Someone screamed out.
"Could at least have let me shut my eyes for a moment." Moon said in reply as he rose from the ground.
He made his neck weak so that his head dropped to the side and he shook his head slightly to ensure his blood dropped off to that side as well as he rolled his pupils back. He was trying his hardest to look scary.
"What the fuck is that?"
"The boogeyman." Moon said with a cackle, that made the opponents reel back in second hand embarrasment.
