When she arrived at the third room, the hall was much wider than the previous ones, and the fireplaces where the skeletons spawned had decreased from sixteen to ten.
'This is a good spot…' thought Morgana as she expected to stay inside that room for hours.
Realizing that she would be fighting for a long time, she quickly opened her Admin interface and looked for her "martial artist" set, which was labeled as "set 5." Radiating the room with light for a moment as her outfit changed.
Her new outfit consisted of more traditional pieces. Her cloak and corset were switched by a breastband that protected the top part of her torso along with her shoulders.
Her pants were now made of a baggy and soft material, and her sneakers were changed to flats.
A few moments later, the greater skeletons began appearing after the torches began flickering and illuminating the room.
They were much taller than the previous skeletons, their bones were sturdier and dark gray, and their eye sockets glowed red.
Ready for the fight, Morgana launched herself at the skeleton with a "Fire Dragon Kick" and blasted him into pieces before another one appeared on the other side of the room.
Morgana cracked her knuckles and turned with a mischievous smile, beginning an onslaught of attacks that would continue for hours.
The greater skeletons were more robust than their previous counterparts. If the trickster didn't use her skills to hit them, it could take her two or three attacks to kill them.
Realistically, that was nothing, but Morgana didn't want to waste any time and used all of the skills in her repertoire to kill them as quickly as possible.
Skeletons were strong against slash attacks, meaning that any sword or dagger didn't affect them as substantially as a blunt weapon.
Maces, hammers, and clubs were the recommended weapons to fight against skeletons. However, Morgana had her own blunt weapon: Her fists.
When Morgana leveled up to the maximum as a martial artist back in the days before the Red Calamity, her sub-class was called "Dragon Fighter," so most of her abilities that revolved around martial arts came from that.
Being level 107 hindered her from casting all of the abilities she would have wanted to, but she had enough to stay on that floor for hours fighting the greater skeletons.
Pushing her limits, Morgana fought them until she was ultimately out of mana and stamina. The doors to the boss's room had opened hours ago, but she never went through them. Instead, she kept fighting the endless waves of monsters.
Using potions to buff her mana regeneration and stamina, she kept going for 16 hours straight. Once she felt like her body was about to collapse, she quickly exited the crypt and returned to the surface.
Once outside, she placed a "barrier" skill around herself, sat beside the entrance with the burnt-out roots, and fell asleep.
Waking up thanks to the dawn's sunlight that focused on her face as the sun rose, Morgana opened her eyes.
"Morning already?" she muttered before yawning and rubbing her eyelids.
Appraising herself, she wanted to see if the grind from the previous night had done anything for her and noticed that her level had gone up by one. Going from level 107 to 108.
She sighed with a bit of discontent. "Should have expected that these skeletons wouldn't be worth much experience… There was no other choice, though."
Morgana pondered about other ideas she could have had. However, the crypt was the closest dungeon to Kartan that Morgana could use to level up quickly. It was not only the highest level, but it also had infinite monster spawns.
'Sitting here thinking about other options is just making me waste more time…' she thought as she stood up and made her way back inside the crypt.
After quickly clearing the first two floors, she returned to her previous training spot and began killing the greater skeletons like there was no tomorrow.
Sixteen hours later, Morgana's body was too tired to keep going and retreated to the surface to rest.
As she sat down next to the entrance with exhaustion, she scoffed at the fact that she was getting tired after merely 16 hours of grinding.
Back when Aegis was a game to her, she could grind for 30 hours without sleeping. Of course, it made sense since she wasn't actually fighting but controlling her character.
Now, stamina and exhaustion were real, and it wasn't something that she could simply ignore when fighting.
'Hmmm, I still don't know the reason these roots were placed here. I'll check the last floor once I get to level 110.' she thought before closing her eyes and falling into slumber.
The following day went precisely the same. She checked her stats and noticed she was level 109.
'One more day… Selene, I'll heal that curse of yours and find the bastard that did it to you…' she thought as she delved back inside the crypt with a severe expression.
After ten more hours of killing monsters non-stop, Morgana heard the voice in her head that told her she had leveled up to 110.
The door to the boss's room had opened hours ago, and since she still had some stamina left, she decided to finish the dungeon and return to the orphanage.
She still didn't know the reason the entrance to the crypt was sealed, but now that she had re-opened it, she thought she would deal with whatever was in there.
'It could just be that they were scared and sealed it…' she thought as she made her way down to the final room.
The Kartan Skeletal King was a boss she had defeated countless times in the past, remembering that he used to drop really good items for people around level 80.
The fight wasn't supposed to be cleared by one person but by a party of at least four. Even if Morgana were much higher level than the boss, it wouldn't be as easy as fighting the previous skeletons.
