In my last life, there was a burn scar that ran across the left side of Nova's face, from her brow to her lip. It was the only scar on her otherwise perfect face and she would never tell me how she got that scar. I only knew that she got in on a lower floor.
Nova continued to stare at me even after the receptionist spoke and I narrowed my eyes at her, "Do you need something from me?" I asked and Nova's eyes widened minutely, like she was surprised at her own action.
"No," she said before she turned away and spoke to the receptionist, "I have a meeting with a member of the Gaiaclan. Do you know where the meeting room is?"
"Oh, you are talking about Mr. Gaia," the receptionist quickly searched through her records to find the location of the meeting and I turned to leave, "Yes, he is in room B12 on floor eighteen. He left a key for you and asked you to join him and his other guest as soon as you arrive."
There was an elevator at the end of the hallway. It used earth and air magic to take people up and the building quickly. I entered one of the empty ones, but before it could close and move, Nova joined me inside.
"Floor eighteen," she said and I pressed the button for the floor. There was silence in the elevator for some time before she spoke again, "You have a lot of injuries."
"I just came from a dungeon," I said, "Most of the blood isn't even mine in case you're worried about me." I could feel Novas stare on the back of my neck when I said that before she hummed softly. There was this chill that filled the elevator throughout the short trip up the building and I knew that it was some sort of passive skill that she was using.
Even though Nova and I weren't close friends in my last life, I could say that we trusted each other on the battlefield. She was strong and her icy personality and aloof nature made her seem like she was untouchable. Even though she was killed only five years into the war, I still thought of her as one of my friends.
"Have I met you before?" Nova suddenly asked and I turned to look at her.
"Why would you think that?"
"You smell familiar."
"What?"
"Oh, sorry, maybe I phrased that wrongly," Nova pinched her chin and she thought about a better way to phrase her words, "You carry the same smell that I would perceive from the monsters inside dungeons, so it made me think I've seen you before."
"That doesn't sound any better," I said in annoyance and Nova shrugged. I wasn't too surprised by what she said because the Nova of my last life told me the same thing. That Nova told me that it must be because of my [Dark] class that I carried that smell, "You shouldn't go around smelling people," I said to Nova and she just hummed and faced forward again.
Inwardly, I was smiling. This Nova was just like the one I knew. Her aloof personality and her tendency to just say whatever was on her mind without caring about how other people will interpret it. That was just the sort of person she was.
"Is that why you were openly glaring at me earlier?" I asked.
"Oh, so you really noticed that. I thought you just turned because you heard the murmurs. Sorry if it was a shock, but you smelt just like the dungeon monsters and I was on guard."
"And what of now?" I asked, "Are you still on guard?"
"Do I need to be?" she asked innocently, and I could only smile. This woman is never going to change.
The door leading to the eighteenth floor opened and we both walked o. my door was on the left side of the hallway and Nova walked a little further down before she used the key to open a door on the right.
"You don't have to be careful around me," I said to Nova before she could enter her room. She stopped and looked at me for a moment before she finally entered.
I entered my room and sighed as I immediately started taking off my clothes and dropping them on the floor. I needed a bath and some sleep. The bath didn't take long and when I go out, I wore some of the clothes that were inside my spatial ring. I needed to go and get some more clothes from the boutique later since I didn't have any more clothes after these. I slept for some time and my eyes opened when I heard a knock on the door.
When I opened the door, I saw a man standing there. He was wearing a black suit and he handed me a small box with a bow, "I was told to hand this over to Mr. Black, with regards from the Gaiaclan," he said and I accepted the box and closed the door behind me.
I opened the box, and I saw that there was a spatial ring inside it. It was a small spatial ring and the space inside was barely as large as a cardboard box, but all the money I was promised was inside. I transferred the money from the small ring into my main ring and I decided that it was time to leave the room to buy some things.
First, I would need a new weapon to fight with. I was proficient in using many types of weapons, but I would prefer to have a bladed weapon that won't interfere with my movement. Maybe a sword or twin daggers. Then I need some armor and clothes and also some new skills if there are any good ones. The hotel here had a skill store and I am sure that they will have many skills that will be useful for me in the future. But the skills sold here are so expensive. Buying a C or B rank skill will be impossible unless you are willing to spend at least fifty silver coins. Maybe I'll leave the skills for after I make a few more dungeon runs on this floor.
I left my room and went to the armory first. There was a receptionist in this armory as well and she welcomed me with a smile, "Hello, how can I help you today? Do you want to buy new weapons?"
"I was wondering if I could meet the blacksmith for a custom order," I said, and the receptionist frowned.
"Sorry sir, but you need to be at least an S rank if you wish to have a special weapon made for you. It's hotel policy."
'Right, I forgot about that,' I thought while sweat dropping, It has been so long since I last needed to buy a weapon here that I forgot that there was a policy like that in this hotel. All my weapons in the future were custom-made.
"Alright, let me just see what weapons you have," I asked, "I want something that won't hinder movement while fighting. Preferably a bladed weapon."
"Then a short sword or dagger would be perfect for you." she glowed, "Can I please see your rank, sir?" I handed her my badge and she saw that I was a C rank, "What is your class?"
"[Dark]" I said
"Sorry? What was that?"
"I said [Dark]. That is my class."
The receptionist looked lost once she heard my class. It was obvious that she didn't know what to do if she has a customer with that class. The receptionist asked me to wait for a moment and she made a call to someone else. Once she got off the call, she smiled at me, "Please wait a moment, I am not very familiar with that class, so someone that will be able to help you better is on her way."
I nodded and went to sit down at the side to wait. A few minutes later, another woman came through the door of the back room and she walked up to me after saying a few words to the receptionist.
"Hello, my name is Talia, I'll be in your care," she extended her hand for a handshake, and I took it, "I heard you were in the [Dark] class?" she asked curiously.
"Yeah."
"I checked through our inventory and we don't seem to have any dark attribute armors or weapons," she said apologetically, and I nodded for her to continue, "But if you can tell me the other classes that your class is compatible with or weak to, then I should be able to help you find something very suitable."
"My class isn't weak to any other class as far as I know. But it is equal to light and it is compatible with fire. Does that help?"
The receptionist clapped softly, "That is perfect. I think we can find something very useful for you,"
