Chereads / The Dark Magus / Chapter 16 - Second Run

Chapter 16 - Second Run

Although I planned to come back into the dungeon again, I won't get any more drops from this dungeon boss because I already beat it once, but I can still get a lot of magic points and other stats from the monsters. I made my way out of the dungeon and the guards were stunned to see me coming out so soon after I just went in. They looked at each other and they just shrugged. I'm sure they think that I didn't go into the boss' room. They think that I just hunted outside the boss room and came back out.

I sat down outside the dungeon and waited for the time to pass. But before two hours passed, I was surprised to see another group coming towards the dungeon. This group was made up of three people, two women, and a man. This means that there is at least one E ranker among them. I knew that they wanted to enter the dungeon as well and as they got closer, they all looked at me in surprise.

"What are you doing out here, kid?" one of the two women asked. She had long blond hair and enormous breasts that looked ready to fall out from her skimpy outfit. She bent down to speak to me like I was a child, "Are you waiting for someone?" she asked.

I looked at her for a moment before looking away in annoyance. I was trying to figure out how to deal with this situation right now and I didn't have time to talk to her. I looked towards the man in the group and spoke to him seriously, "I'm going in next," I said, "Don't try to cut in line,"

The three of them looked at each other curiously before the two women suddenly started t laugh. The man chuckled a little before he walked towards the dungeon.

"You're really funny," The woman that spoke to me before said, as she cleaned a tear from her eye and stood back up. She didn't even take me seriously, "I know you want to get strong quickly, but you shouldn't play around like that. These dungeons are really dangerous and you can get hurt if you try to sneak in." I felt my eye twitch as I heard this, "Come on, Julie, let's go," she said to the woman standing beside her and the two of them were about to enter the dungeon, but a shout from the man stopped them.

"What do you mean he is next!?" the man shouted at the guard standing in front of the dungeon and he turned around to give me a dirty look. I ignored him and relaxed back in my chair. The man quickly marched up to me in anger, "What is the meaning of this," he said.

"Were you deaf?' I asked, "I already came to the dungeon before you so I am going in next."

"But you're just a kid," the man said in disbelief as he looked at me from head to toe. I could almost hear the cogs in his head working overtime to try and understand what the hell was going on here, "Are you an E ranker?" he started asking but he stopped and shook his head like it was a stupid question, "No, where are the rest of your teammates? Are you an F ranker waiting for your team?"

The man's attempt to try and demean me was irritating and I wasn't going to humor him. I ignored him and his face started to redden again as he was very close to attacking me. But the women beside him stopped him and pointed towards the guards at the side. It was prohibited for rankers to attack other rankers and the guards would not just sit by and watch the man if he tried to attack me.

"Show me your badge," the man demanded and I gave him the middle finger in response. The man's face turned redder but the girls at his side touched him again and he forced himself to calm down.

"Fine," the man said as he took a seat on the seat beside my own, "I'll wait till the time passes and your team comes. If a bunch of F rankers think that they can enter the dungeon before me, then you have a lot to learn."

The man was obviously an E ranker and the two women beside him were either E rankers or F rankers that were a part of his team. Even though it is theoretically possible for an E ranker to clear an E rank dungeon alone, it is almost impossible practically. There are too many things that need to be taken into account when you enter a dungeon and hundreds of things can go wrong. So E rankers usually go into the dungeon along with one or two F rankers that they trust. The F rankers are being carried by the E ranker so they do not expect to get a lot of payment from whatever they hunt inside the dungeon, but it is the most profitable way to earn money for F rankers and a lot of F rankers choose to be carried like this instead of forming teams with other F rankers. The only downside to this is that the F rankers usually don't fight much when they are with E rankers, and so they remain F rankers for a very long time.

The four of us waited together in front of the dungeon and when the time finally passed, I stood up to enter the dungeon again.

"Hey, where do you think you are going?" the man spoke up from behind me and I turned to give him a look. He stood up and walked up to me, "In case you don't know, F rankers cannot enter the dungeon without a team of five."

"I don't have a team,"

I finally said as I got tired of him looking down on me, "I'm going in alone."

The man scoffed, "Are you trying to say that you are an E ranker?" he asked, "A kid like you?"

I turned around and walked up to the guards and they nodded for me to enter.

"Wait!" The man shouted, and before I knew it, all three of them had also entered with me. There was no law against entering the dungeons with more than one E ranker, so the guards didn't stop him, but I sneered angrily as I saw him enter.

"What the fuck is the meaning of this?" I said with a glare, "I told you that I reserved this dungeon already. Couldn't you just wait outside?"

"So you really are an E ranker," the man completely ignored my words and he sighed to the side, "Look, I'm already in here, so let's just hunt together. It'll be safer anyway. I'm sure you're new to this, so I'll look out for you. What do you say?" the man stretched his hand out for me to take but I slapped I away.

"Fuck off and stay out of my way," I said as I began to move into the dungeon alone. The man was still looking down on me but I didn't have any time to be angry at the idiot because we were already being swarmed by many [Fire Flies]. I activated [Rain of Helfire] and a torrent of black flames fell from the sky and decimated all of the basts in front of me in quick order. More beasts were running towards me from another direction and I saw the other man using a fire-based skill to shoot them down with flaming lances.

I continued my rampage and I activated [Pyroclasm] and shot balls of black fire at the monsters. They tried to flee, but there was nowhere for them to run where I couldn't reach them. I drew more and more of them out as I steadily increased the amount of magic power being consumed.

[The Heart of Darkness has activated [Devour]]

The heart of darkness handled siphoning the magic power from the beasts and I just focused on destroying as much of them as possible.

"Ah!!"

I heard a shout from behind me and I turned to see one of the girls being attacked by a monster. She used an earth-based skill to form a defensive barrier around herself, but the monsters were easily breaking the shield and it wouldn't be long before they reach her. The man was surrounded by monsters and he was trying to fight against the monsters around him while also protecting the second girl, but his magic power must have already run low because his skills didn't have any force behind them. It was a mess, and it would only end up with all of them dying.

I knew that they were being swarmed because I was going through the dungeon so quickly. The number of monsters was increasing faster than they could keep up with and so they ended up getting swarmed. I decided that I would just help them. They were all idiots, but that doesn't mean they deserve to die.

I activated [Shadow Web] and thousands of invisible webs spread across the cave, ensnaring the [Fire Flies] and preventing them from dodging against my next skill. I then activated [Pyroclasm] as a wave of black flames traveled across the webs and burnt every monster that I caught at the same time.
