"Wow," Ethan exclaimed aloud as he stared at the notifications on the panel in front of him, followed by his status that had significantly changed from the last time he viewed it.

The first thing Ethan noticed that had changed in his status was his level.

Ever since he had opened his eyes in this world, Ethan's status had always displayed his level as level 1.

For the first time since Ethan arrived here, this status had finally changed.

Ethan was now level 2.

As this realisation washed over him, Ethan felt a wave of satisfaction and happiness envelop him.

For some reason he could not understand, Ethan felt that reaching level 2 was sweeter than his past experiences of levelling up to great heights like level 100 and 200.

After pondering it for a few seconds, Ethan finally figured out why he was feeling this way.

The reason levelling up to level 2 felt like a much greater achievement than in the games where he had played as a top-level player in the past was that in this world, the stakes were much higher.

Here, Ethan felt as though he was truly fighting for his life, a sensation he hadn't encountered in those other games.

It was a different kind of feeling.

It was one that felt very real.

Every time he engaged in combat, Ethan sensed his life hanging on the edge.

The excitement, the thrill, and the sensation of his body moving and reacting in each fight gave Ethan the illusion that he was on a high.

This feeling was entirely different from anything he had even experienced in real life.

If there was one thing Ethan could repeatedly state about his experiences in this world, it would be:

"This is how a game should be played."

After glancing at his new level one last time, Ethan went further to inspect his new status board.

Ethan's class remained the same, something he hadn't expected to change in the first place.

At least it appeared that normal common game sense still applied in this world.

The experience points required to level up had increased by 50 points.

If Ethan were to kill wolves in the world outside this system's event location, he would need to eliminate 38 wolves just to reach level 3.

That felt like it would take a long time.

Fortunately, Ethan happened to be in his current location.

They hadn't even covered half of the distance needed to reach the temple, yet the number of undead knights Ethan and his team encountered was increasing as they journeyed further.

As long as nothing went wrong, Ethan would only need to kill 15 undead knights to level up to level 3.

The number of undead monsters he would need to kill should be fewer if Ethan encountered level 2 monsters and was able to defeat them.

This image was already playing in Ethan's mind.

It wasn't that Ethan was letting his recent achievement of levelling up get to his head.

Ethan indeed felt that as long as he didn't encounter anything too formidable, he should be able to handle level 2 monsters without much trouble.

This confidence was supported by what Ethan was seeing on his status board.

Ethan had received a notification that his stats had increased due to levelling up.

Considering how energised he felt, as if he hadn't been panting like a dog just a few seconds ago, Ethan believed that he was in for something good.

Feeling some changes he had yet to examine in his body, Ethan continued to scrutinise his status.

The first thing that caught Ethan's eye was his improved stats.

The notification indicating an increase in his stats clearly referred to this section of his status.

After gazing at his attribute stats for a while, Ethan finally discerned a pattern that might occur whenever he levelled up again.

Ethan speculated that he could be either right or wrong, contingent upon the extent to which this world adhered to the familiar game rules he was accustomed to from the games he had played in the past.

In most games, when a player levels up, their stats improve by a certain amount, depending on their class.

Confirming his assumption from the notification he had received after levelling up, Ethan realised that this principle held true here as well.

Given that Ethan was a mage, it was evident that his intelligence stat would experience the most substantial improvement.

It had increased by an additional four points after levelling up, while his other stats only saw a 2-point increase.

This was a minor uptick compared to the notable four-point enhancement in his intelligence stat.

Unfortunately, these stats had proven rather futile thus far due to Ethan's lack of utilisation of skills that required mana.

This was something Ethan had resolved to address in his next fight.

Ethan speculated that employing his skills could potentially make things easier, but this hypothesis needed to be tested first.

While contemplating this, Ethan continued to examine his status.
