Chapter 29 - Attribute

Ethan knew that the base stats for average humans were 10 in each category.

In traditional games back on Earth, the base stats for most game characters were 10, and it was up to the player to allocate additional points to those stats as they progressed in the game.

This was the norm for traditional games, but in VR games, a player's initial character closely resembled their real-world physical capabilities with a few tweaks from the game here and there.

Even with this, the stats often closely mirrored one's physical data.

This was the reason why hardcore top players were generally in good shape.

Even if they weren't, they were still physically better than most people.

This rule applied to top players who relied on powerful gear and money to reach the pinnacle of the game as well.

In the past, stats were merely data to Ethan, serving as an indicator of his character's power.

However, at present, Ethan stats carried significant weight in determining his survival rate in the world he found himself in.

Ethan's stats prior to levelling up were already impressive.

Along with his martial arts skills, Ethan stats were the main reasons he was still standing.

Now that something had changed regarding his stats, Ethan took the matter of his attribute stats very seriously.

Contemplating the fact that the data on the blue panel in front of him represented a real reflection of his actual capabilities, Ethan wondered just how much his body had transformed.

--------

Attribute Stats:

- Strength: -15-

- Agility: -16-

- Intelligence: -21-

- Constitution: -13-

Attribute Values: Strength: 1.5, Agility: 1.6, Intelligence: 2.1, Constitution: 1.3

Attribute Points: -5-

-------

After scrutinising his stats for a while, Ethan realised something important.

If all of this was real, then it was plausible that, sooner or later, the humans sharing this world with him would surpass the limits of the human body.

They might evolve into superhumans, and this transformation would be an actual metamorphosis, distinct from the illusions presented in the games Ethan had played in the past.

Nonetheless, the unfolding of this reality and its implications were events reserved for the future to unveil and for his future self to manage.

Ethan resolved to concentrate on the present circumstances rather than allow his thoughts to wander aimlessly.

The foundational stats for an average human were 10, and upon examining his own stats, Ethan recognized that he had already surpassed that benchmark.

Ethan's highest attribute – intelligence – had doubled that of an ordinary human.

Although humans on Earth didn't possess or employ mana, making it difficult for Ethan to establish a direct comparison, his physical attributes were a different story.

Ethan's physical attributes were easier to comprehend.

Ethan's strength stat was only 5 points away from granting him twice the strength of an average human, while his agility stat was just 4 points shy.

In addition, Ethan's constitution stat had also shown improvement.

After contemplating his current stats and their potential for improvement in the future, a spark of excitement ignited in Ethan's heart.

It crossed Ethan's mind that individuals like Rageheart might have already attained the strength equivalent to that of two humans through levelling up.

Rageheart's strength should be even more formidable by now, but it wasn't as if Ethan couldn't achieve the same.

With this thought in mind, Ethan's gaze shifted to a specific spot on his status: his attribute points.

-------

Attribute Points: -5-

-------

Attribute points.

In many role-playing and video games, attribute points are numerical values that represent a character's inherent qualities, abilities, or characteristics.

These attributes can affect various aspects of gameplay, such as a character's combat abilities, skills, and overall performance.

Attribute points are points that a player can allocate or distribute to these attributes during character creation or as they level up.

These allocations can shape the character's strengths and weaknesses, defining their playstyle and abilities in the game.

Different games have different systems for allocating and improving attribute points, and they can significantly impact gameplay and character development.

Ethan understood that attribute points were a resource that would enhance his power and strength.

If this game adhered to standard gaming conventions, Ethan should earn attribute points with each level.

However, this didn't imply that Ethan could use them haphazardly.

In a way, attribute points in games were highly valuable resources, and that principle should hold true in this world as well.

"How do I allocate my attribute points, though?" Ethan pondered mentally.

Before Ethan could delve deeper into his thoughts, another panel displaying specific information related to his attributes emerged in Ethan's line of sight.

A smile crept onto Ethan's face as he observed the content of the panel.

--------

Attribute Stats:

Attribute Values:

Strength: 1.5{+/-}

Agility: 1.6{+/-}

Intelligence: 2.1{+/-}

Constitution: 1.3{+/-}

Attribute Points: -5-

-------

The information on this specific panel simplified matters greatly for Ethan.

Ethan surmised that he should be able to allocate his points by mentally using his will.

This method of interaction with his status board was familiar to Ethan, so there shouldn't be any issues.

Ethan wasn't aware of how many enhancement points an individual Attribute point could provide, but he had a rough idea of how to allocate attribute points and which attributes would be reinforced.

Among all his stats, Ethan's intelligence was the highest, already twice that of a human.

Given that he hadn't been able to fully utilise this stat yet and it was already quite elevated, Ethan planned to elevate his other stats as well.

Since Ethan couldn't accurately gauge the extent to which his mage skills might influence his battles, he intended to refrain from enhancing them for now. Instead, he would concentrate on improving the stats he deemed crucial for his survival in this world.

At present, four attribute stats were visible to Ethan.

Since Ethan was postponing the enhancement of his intelligence stat until later, he had three other stats to augment: strength, agility, and constitution.

Ethan planned to enhance all three of these stats.

Ethan's most potent asset in this world was his body, and these three attributes were directly linked to his physicality.

Enhancing his strength would enable Ethan to deal more damage and the like.

Elevating his agility would bolster his escaping skills.

A wise individual knew when to stand his ground and when to retreat.

It seemed Ethan had been perusing the 'Guide to Being a Great Man in a Game' manual – specifically, chapter one: 'Enhance Strength, Escape Wisely, and Occasionally Order Extra Health Potions'!

Strengthening his constitution would afford Ethan greater endurance, allowing him to withstand more punishment.

All that remained now was for Ethan to allocate his attribute points.
