As he looked around he saw people with different weapons trying to fight the large fire breathing dragonflies.
They were huge; over one metre in length and their wing span was one metre each. Each of their four wings were red in colour, their eyes were black and scary and instead of six legs, these ones had four legs and two scythe like legs in front that they used to tear down the tents.
"I can't lose my territory... If I do then I'll have to go to the wilderness." He mumbled as he ran towards the blacksmith's shop which was open to find something to slay these monsters.
He ran as fast as he could dodging random weapon swings on his way.
*Craa!*
He looked upwards at where he heard a monstrous sound come from and he saw one of the dragon flies coming towards him.
He didn't stop and instead started running faster towards the dragon fly coming towards him.
He saw a kitchen knife not too far from him but he wasn't sure whether he would reach it before this monsters gets to him.
The monster immediately opened it's mouth and shot out crimson flames towards Xander.
Xander eyes widened but he was quick to react as he slid down and grabbed the knife before raising it up, cutting the dragon fly on the stomach and making it fall and crash.
Xander cleaned the green goo on his face that fell from the dragon fly's torn stomach and ran back towards the fallen dragon fly and stabbed it's head again to make sure that it doesn't get back up.
*Beep!*
[You have killed one level 2 fire breathing fly]
[You have received 10 exp]
He didn't bother with the notifications as he didn't even have an exp bar and just continued running towards the open tent while gripping the small knife tight in his hand.
"Haa!"
A shout resounded as he reached the entrance, followed by the flat side of a frying pan coming towards his face.
He acted fast and ducked down while spinning, kicking a person's leg and making them fall fall to the floor.
Xander looked and saw Greg the blacksmith with a frying pan in his hand. He didn't even look twice and just ran past Greg.
"This is no time to be floor napping. We are under attack."
Greg stood up looking puzzled.
"But you're the one that put me on the floor." Greg said before running to Xander's side.
Xander looked at the wooden table where weapons were and he struggled to pick just one.
He simply just looked for what he was used to and he grabbed a short sword with a one sided blade with a dagger and he turned to look at what Greg was doing since there were crashing sounds coming from his side.
He then saw Greg carrying a double tyred wheel barrow with a large gun looking object mounted on top.
"What is that?! We're not running we're going to fight!" Xander shouted in frustration but Greg immediately explained himself.
"This is a weapon Xander. It can shoot three arrows in one second and there are four hundred and fifty arrows in this baby." Gray slapped the object.
'He's quite the creator. The function makes it seem like a mini gun from earth.' Xander thought as he walked out of the tent and Greg followed behind.
"What's the plan?" Greg asked, looking at Xander for instructions.
"Just kill them all." Xander said as he ran towards one of the dragon flies that was about to consume one of the children there.
He didn't have a plan. He just hoped that the creatures weren't much and they would be able to kill them all, if not, he would lose his territory.
The creature was too engrossed in chasing after the small child so Xander just jumped on it and stabbed the it's neck with the dagger.
The creature immediately fell down along with him and he stood up and ran towards another one.
Xander slashed the head of one of the fire breathing flies that in front of him and he turned back to see four others coming towards him at once... And they were high in the sky.
Xander's mouth opened as he saw an orange light shimmering from the flies' mouths and he immediately greeted his life goodbye as he closed his eyes.
They were too close, and more than a dozen were close by, if he runs, then he would attract the others to him. Better to be killed by four that to be killed by fifteen.
He then began reviewing how his life has been.
'I don't have any regrets. I even had sex last night, something I never thought I would do before I get married... I've lived quite a life.' he thought.
A smile bloomed on his face as fire rained down from above towards him.
Xander felt a slight breeze brush his skin and the sound of flames roaring but he didn't feel anything. He opened his eyes to see a man in front of him holding a wooden shield, blocking the fire from reaching him.
It was Anthony, the leader of the hunters of his village.
*Swi swi!*
Arrows flew through the air and hit the dragon flies one by one till all of them dropped dead.
He looked sideways and saw Greg smiling towards him with the machine that was now... Open.
There were ten crossbows stacked on each other with arrows loaded in them. The weapon really did work.
Greg only gave Xander a thumbs up before continuing his assault on the dragon flies.
"Xander, the mob seems like it's not going to end." A woman's voice came from behind him and there he saw a slim woman with long blue hair braided in a pony tail coming towards him.
"Emilia?" Xander mumbled the woman's name. The cook who teaches the girls how to cook and the one that leads the cooks to make food for the villagers, even the village head.
Xander immediately closed his eyes as his heart started beating fast in fear. He was afraid, he wanted to run now and leave all these people here as they might not be real anyway.
He wanted to flee this scene, he didn't want to die.
'Calm down Xander. Just think of it like those MMORTS games.' he thought and he calmed down and looked around carefully.
A few metres away from him on the right was a built man fending off more dragon flies with a sword and a shield, Anthony. Greg was on the left side shooting down the dragon flies one by one with his arrowzooka
Xander let out a breath before he started giving orders.
"Emilia take the villagers and head into the safe side of the forest, don't go too far. Anthony, protect her."
Emilia and Anthony nodded and proceeded with the instructions given.
"Hunters! Let's kill these demons!"
A battle scream resounded as more than thirty hunters weilding Various weapons stepped forward and charged towards the new wave of dragon flies that looked to be over a hundred.
"I might still ditch these people after all." Xander mumbled with no hope left in his voice.
