I picked Aaron up from the ground and smiled at him gently. He didn't seem happy, so I showered his face with mild kisses while I tried to distract myself from the turmoil in my heart.
This wasn't supposed to happen, Aaron seeing me in that position was not something that should have happened at all.
I would have been completely unfazed if Anna had found Amelie and I in that situation, but for Aaron it was different. Right now he was busy with the toys in his hand, but one day this particular scene was going to replay in his head, and he wouldn't ignore it like he was doing right now.
"Are you ready to go?" I asked Anna and she nodded affirmatively. She was doing her best to hold back tears, crying in front of Aaron would only make the already bad situation worse. If she as much as shed a single tear, Aaron was going to ask questions, and when an answer is not given, he will throw a tantrum.
