Roan arrived at the inn and quickly went back to his room. The inn was empty as yesterday. He liked that about the inn.
He entered his room and sat on the bed. Just a few days after leaving his town, Roan had already hit a roadblock which had no apparent solution.
His source of income which used to work so well in Tolaga didn't seem to be a viable option anymore. The guild seemed to be a husk of what it was at Tolaga.
"How am I going to earn money? "Roan muttered. He had no skill other than fighting. He didn't know how to cook or had any idea of blacksmithing. He didn't even know how to farm.
While joining the obsidian order seemed to be the only option, Roan didn't want to go down that path. He was no killer.
"What should I do? "Roan shook his head and closed his eyes, his brain working overtime to think of a solution. But nothing came to his mind.

A couple of days passed as Roan researched jobs in the town and what he found out wasn't to his liking. There were no proper jobs that paid good money. Maybe except one, working as an Escort for merchants or any other person trying to travel outside the town.
The pits awakening which seemed to have only happened near Tolaga had finally arrived near Tolaga. Numerous dark monsters had been spotted causing widespread panic in the town.
And that had caused the price of Escorts to go up as nobody was willing to leave the town. There were even some deaths by the monsters which caused more panic and the prices of things were increasing as the merchants and farmers who transported the foods in the town had been unable to do so because of the monsters which meant more profit to those willing to import goods at this time.
So, some courageous merchants were willing to leave the town and they needed just as courageous escorts with significant fighting prowess to take them safely to the next town.
If Roan had been a normal person, then he wouldn't have even thought of leaving the town. But he wasn't. He was stronger than a squire and could probably fight a true knight on equal footing.
"It's the best option. "Roan muttered. It was decided. But first, he had to do something. Read the book of Necromancy and try to learn a couple of spells. He had neglected the book when he had first gotten it, thinking that he was strong enough for now and then he got kidnapped. So, he wasn't going to repeat the same mistake here.
He first had to learn some spells and then try to see if he could do some escort missions to earn money. And he had to buy a weapon too.
"So many expenses, "Roan muttered as he walked to the inn where he was staying. He entered the hall and ordered some food which he inhaled as soon as it arrived. He then went to his room and closed the door, ready to do some studying.
