"Would you lead the way? I want to get out of here as fast as possible." Amon declared this to the whole group.
"Yes, Krampus You know this part better than I do. Would you?" Thessia asked.
Krampus nodded and walked ahead as the first. As the paths split, there were three paths in total. Krampus looked into each of them and then went in the direction of the left path.
"Amon, come to me. Thessia, stay a few steps back."
Krampus turned around; he talked with an ordering tone, and Thessia did not dare to refuse.
"You noticed them too; that's good."
Amon ignored Krampus ordering tone because he wanted to see something else, and that was Krampus strength. The only thing he expected was that Krampus was strong, but how far this strength reached still needed to be found out.
"Of course."
Amon counted 20 enemies. The area they stayed in seemed to be spacious too. Amon's plan would be to simpel, barge in as the first one, and then watch how Krampus performed in this fight. The only thing he saw from Krampus Strength up until now was how he shattered the golden cube Thessia was trapped in.
True might can, however, only be found in battle.
"Then try your best to follow me."
Amon dashed forward with his ring turned into a short sword. Krampus reacted and followed Amon with a speed similar to his.
As Amon turned around a corner, he saw monsters that resembled tarantulas. The only difference was that these spiders were way bigger and stronger than normal tarantulas.
The ambush of the two of them came way too suddenly for the monsters; before everyone of the monsters could grasp what happened, five of the 1.8-meter-tall tarantulas were taken out.
Amon watched the movement of all the tarantulas, but his focus was still on Krampus, who killed all the tarantulas with the wooden rod he had already used.
His movement was good, the strength was amazing, the speed was similar to his, and the tactics were simple but effective.
Over all, Krampus was a competent fighter. Amon wanted to watch him more but felt that he had to do something too; if he would only watch Krampus fight, it would appear way too suspicious to Krampus and Thessia.
Amon finished the other tarantulas as quick as he could and then turned towards Krampus, who stood with red, glowing eyes on top of the biggest tarantula.
"You are not a bad fighter, Amon, right?" Krampus stepped off the tarantula and walked towards Amon.
"Amon, right, but that can be said about you too; would you mind going on the front with me and talking about this and that?"
Krampus waited for a few seconds before he gave his approval.
Thessia was a bit angry at Krampus for not walking with her, but this was the best thing they could do in the end. Amon and Krampus seemed to be their mightiest fighters. If they walked as the first two people, their chances of survival would rise. The only problem remaining was that Amon was a human who declared to have an elf as his wife and that this marriage was not forced.
'I will look at this in person to see if this wife of yours truly married you out of love or not.'
Amon and Krampus walked next to each other, everyone waiting for the other one to start the conversation while keeping the contract in mind. Each question and each answer had to be thought through three times before being spoken.
"Krampus, tell me, why did you act so different the moment this Thessia showed up? Before she was there, you talked normally to me and even Bruna, but now you are distant and suspicious. Tell me why?"
Amon wanted to know this first because it bothered him; better said, it was one of the things that bothered him and could be said as a first question without making himself hated by Krampus.
"If I knew that, then that would be good. To be honest, I have nothing against you and the other woman, but I needed to act like this to make no mistake."
Amon noticed that Krampus didn't mention Leon on purpose, which was no wonder; he would also hate Leon if one of the first impressions he would get about him was that. That made Roxanne cry.
"Good, then quit the acting now and be real. However, is there nothing you want to ask me?"
Amon was concerned that every single question Krampus or Thessia would ask him could become his end, but he would begin it this way: one question and one answer. This would be repeated until one of the two did not want to anymore.
"From which bloodline is your wife?" Krampus asked a question that attracted the attention of not only Amon but Thessia too.
"I don't know; my wife was born into a small village where only elves lived; however, one day the village was attacked by a few mages, and she was sent into a prison. Back then, she should have been around the age of three or five. But for about a year, she came into contact with some elves. I was not there that day, but she spent a month with them and then showed me a necklace made of wood."
Krampus eyes glowed up even more than normal as he asked, "And how did the symbol on it look?"
"A flower."
"A flower I never met someone with this symbol; she and her bloodline seem to have lived far away from our tribe."
Krampus turned his eyes away and gazed back at Thessia and then back at Amon.
'A flower, this is interesting; I need to meet this wife of his too.'
"That's unfortunate, but if you find something out from your master, tell me. My wife knows nothing about her bloodline. The only thing she has is this old neckless she is too afraid of wearing."
Amon remembered a day where she wore this neckless once. This day started wonderful but ended with the fact that Amon had to kill 100 pirates to get Roxanne back during that time, and pirates were not the only ones that died on that day.
Roxanne sweared to never wear this neckless again from this day onwards and became scared getting to know more about the elfs, but at the same time she became more and more curious. If he could tell her these things, it would maybe set her at ease with them.
"If I get new information, I must share it anyway."
"It is not wide anymore; prepare yourself; the exit of this cave is guarded." Krampus added.
"I already felt that; don't be afraid."
