Chapter 79 - The contracts conditions

Amon raised his index finger and spoke his first condition.

"First, if someone asks us a question, it must be answered; the answer can be the truth or a half truth, but not a lie."

Each word spoken was written one by one on the contract. Krampus stared at the contract as if he tried scaring it; he wanted to make sure that each and every word Amon spoke was written exactly the same way on the contract.

Amon proceeded, "Second, rations, clothes, and whatever has to be shared fairly, no one gets special treatment unless they are wounded or sick."

"Third, we cannot harm each other willingly, no matter what the situation. Do you have any objections to these conditions? Remember, you can remove one."

Thessia and Krampus looked at each other and walked a few steps back. They whipped a few things Amon and Leon could not understand and then came back.

"We agree." Thessia spoke.

"In this case, tell us your conditions." Amon said.

"First, new information you or I get must be shared with anybody; old information, however, can be kept secret and doesn't have to be shared. Second, for one hour of the day, two of the six conditions can be deactivated; the conditions can be picked by ourselves, and nobody else has to give his consent or agreement for this; after one hour, all conditions that were deactivated are active again. Third, for all 24 hours we spent together with each other, we had to tell all of us one lie and one truth about our past, but we didn't have to say what was the truth and what was the lie. Do you agree?"

Amon and Leon walked away and discussed all the conditions.

"What do you think, Leon?" Amon said he did not even try to make assumptions; he wanted to see Leon's perspective on these conditions right from the beginning.

"I can't tell you much, but these conditions are dangerous, and you know that once we made them, they were already risky, but the moment you sign that contract with these conditions, our day will become a gamble and battle of information at the same time. But I still think that we should go with them, since the only dangerous ones are our first one and their third one. Our best thing is their second condition. With this one, we can make huge things, but give her this last thing as a condition."

"We would like to change one thing about the second condition: after one hour, we are allowed to do what we want and are able to dismiss two conditions we want to. Must be announced with a sign, and each of us has that hour off separately. Whether anyone sees that sign is another question; you still have to be within a 10-meter radius of either me or you. Do you accept?"

Krampus and Thessia discussed this matter for five minutes again and then gave their agreement, but they had to determine what the sign was.

Amon agreed to that, and Thessia announced the sign, "We have to use one item, arc magic, or whatever; we just need to use one technique that is able to kill a rat."

Amon nodded and set himself on the ground while holding one edge of the contract; Tessia grabbed the other one; both of them were ready to form the soul contract. Or better said, the Qi version of a soul contract called a soul pact works the exact same way a sould contract works; the only difference is that the contract was created by a Qibander.

Both grabbed the assigned edge of the parchment and let Mana and Qi flow inside of it. The glowing blue parchment changed its color from blue to green, and one second after the contract turned green, it got consumed in green flames. The parchment was gone, but two glowing green energy balls levitated into the air.

One in front of Amon and one in front of Thessia, one ball each flew inside their chests. Their bodies glowed up in the same green color for 60 seconds and then turned into their usual color panels again.

"Perfect, since this is now settled, let's go and inform Bruna." Amon walked away towards Bruna. It felt bad to make this contract without her, but this was not important for him now.

She would now only have to abide by the rules of the contract; he had put his own existence on the line here, not hers.

He approached Bruna sitting in a corner, hesitating at first, not knowing how to begin, but it had to be said, it was for his own good.

"Hey Bruna, I have to tell you something. Are you listening to me?"

Bruna didn't answer; she sat there unchanged. Amon didn't care how she was feeling or what she was thinking about—if she was going to think badly about Roxanne just because he told her she was an elf. Then he didn't care about her feelings or well-being.

Amon told her everything about the contract and the conditions, and with each of his words, Bruna seemed to come more and more out of her thoughts, to the point where she mentioned being careful.

Bit for bit, she turned around, and Amon was surprised as he saw it. Even though Bruna was set in this corner, she was not moving a single bit or saying a word.

Nonetheless, it appeared as if she did not cry. But then what was she doing alone there in this corner?

Thinking. Thinking about what to do from now on, since she was young, she was told that she should enslave elves and treat them as if they were trash. But this trash helped her more than every human being ever did.

The only thing she was was clueless. She stood at the decision of how she should talk to Roxanne from now on. How she should talk to Amon? How do I talk to Krampus and Thessia? Still, finding an answer to these questions was not possible for her from now on; she never encountered an elf in her entire life, which meant she would take things easy, watch how Krampus and Thessia behaved, and then she would hopefully know the answer to all these questions.

In the end, she was trained for a long time in gathering information and spying; now she would only get the information and, based on this information, behave and do the job Amon assigned her.

"I understand. In this case, let's keep going forward. I don't want to stay in here any longer." Bruna said as she stood up and walked towards the others.

'My gut says me that this woman can become both on this travel a curse and a blessing.' Amon thought as he watched how Bruna walked towards the other while still holding the right distance to Thessia.

But Amon could not stand here any longer; the only thing he could do was move forward and pray to the Qi that everything would turn out fine.
