Chapter 33 - 33/Four New Worlds

The next Room was quite boring: it was just an empty rock floating in the middle of nowhere.

Alice felt like her body was slightly heavier than it really was, but it was both almost unnoticeable and not really that interesting.

Honestly, the most shocking thing was how normal this floating rock, compared to the place Alice just left. Suddenly feeling... her body... again, was really weird.

There was a single Golden Door in the Room, on the center of the floating rock. That Door was as blank as the rest of the Room, and there was nothing on it, not even the man with horns and the woman holding a strange orb, no, nothing. Alice didn't even talked to Killer here, and just went in the next Room.

This Room was an exact copy of the previous one, exept there was two Doors this time: one on the center of the island, the other on one of the edge. Both of them were as unremarkable as the previous one.

Alice choose the Door in the middle of the island, and that's when something interesting happened.

She was taken back... on the previous Room.

Well, this answered one of the question she asked herself previously.

Some Rooms were "linked", meaning that there was a Golden Door in Room A leading to Room B and a Golden Door in Room B leading back to Room A. In fact, it was probably quite common, considering she did not have to explore a lot of Rooms to find two "linked" Rooms.

This knowledge was good. Little by little, Alice was learning the rules of the dangerous world she was now in.

It goes without saying, but Alice also tried to "dream" in these two Rooms, but the same wall from a while back was preventing her to do so.

How was she supossed to break that wall ? Why was it here to begin with ?

After another moment passed with experiencing with the Golden Doors, Alice choose to leave the Twins Rocks (that's how she decided to name the place ) by taking the Door that was on the edge of the second rock.

The next Room she passed through was... strange.

It was just a bunch of books. The floor was made of books, and it wasn't even a flying island. There were tree-like structure made of books. There were hills and mountains made of books, far away.

Alice barely read any kind of book in her life pre-Sky, and seeing so many at once was... kind of wonderful.

Alice, of course, tried to read one of the books, but it wasn't written in a language she knew.

Alice would have loved to know how big that Room was, or what kind of limits it had, since it was neither white walls nor some kind of blue void. Sadly, the young Lightbringer was in a hurry. She hadn't eaten anything for more than three weeks, which, for someone her age, was really dangerous. Actually, even some adults would die after that much time. The fact that Alice was mostly fine despite such a long time without eating was simply... strange, actually.

Well, there were a lot of strange things in the Sky.

Maybe it was the parasyte in her body which was already trying to keep her alive ? Or maybe, as a Lightbringer, she was simply more durable than a normal person ?

Perhaps it was both. Or neither.

"Killer, do you know which one it is ?"

"You always overestimate how much I know about this place...You know that I'm from Earth too, right ?"

"Yeah, I suposse you're probably a Lightbringer. But you were teleported in the Sky before me, no ?"

"No, at the same time."

"That's a lie."

"No."

In any case, Alice left the Room using the first Door she found (which was also just a door made of gold with nothing graved on it ), after a bit of exploring. Alice had no idea if this was the only Golden Door in the Room, or if there were other, but she did not really care. There might have been something she missed in that Room, but from what she saw, it was kind of empty.

Thus, once again, she was plunged into the familiar darkness that seemed to exist beetween Rooms.

And, once again, she left that darkness behind.

The Room Alice found herself in, after leaving the seemingly endless landscape made of books, was... just a hallway.

A one-of-a-kind hallway. It was only about one meter wide, and the red walls were made of something strange. When Alice touched them, it felt like touching human flesh.

Was she inside of some monster's giant body ?

"I don't like this Room..."

Alice took note of the fact that she appeared on a spot where a white circle was drawn on the floor, and that she was at the very start of the hallway.

She also took note of the fact that the Room was dark, which was unusual. Alice could barely see anything with her eye, but thankfully her Sixth Sense worked quite well in the darkness.

Alice looks at the wall behind her, but there was nothing interesting about it. So, she moved forward.

The hallway was only about ten meters long, and ended on a small Golden Door.

This Golden Door was interesting.

There were the usual man and woman on each sides of the Door. In the center, more abstact things were shown. Circles, square, curved lines, that sort of thing.

Alice's instinct suddenly came into action.

Behind this Golden Door... was danger.

She just knew it. That was the strange thing with her Name: it was an incredibly inconsistent power. Sometimes, it worked out of nowhere, and sometimes, it was completly useless.

This was an instance of the first possibility.

Alice did not know what kind of danger was in the next Room, and she did not know if that danger was in any way weaker than Brandon.

There was no other Door in the Room, though... So, in the end, Alice opened the Door anyway.

She still had her dagger.
