It was a strange place. There were no walls, no floor, nothing. The place was empty, calm.
And then something, or, rather, someone appeared in the strange place.
It was a young teenage girl. She had black hairs, and green eyes. Or rather, green eye, since the left part of her face was a mess of infected flesh and impressive scars.
Alice.
And then, another person appeared.
A person much taller than Alice.
It was a good-looking guy. He had black hairs and green eyes and, in a way, he was a male version of Alice, just slightly older. In fact, he looked... adult. Way more mature than the last time Alice saw him.
His clothes were also in a state that was a lot better than those of Alice, which wasn't really surprising.
Alice turned toward this person, surprised. She recognized this boy. How could she not recognize him ?
This person... had been more useful to her than Mirror ever was.
Just looking at him made Alice experience a turmoil of emotions. Mainly nostalgia.
Killer was also surprised to see that guy here.
"Will ? Is that really you ? What the hell are you doing here ?"
Will looked around, visibly confused.
"Honestly... I don't know either. A second ago, I was in jail, and now I'm here... what is this place ?"
"The Sky."
"The sky ? What do you mean by that ? Are we dead ?"
Alice walked towards Will. Now, there was barely any distance beetween them.
"No, we're not."
Will didn't say anything. He was just looking at her.
Then, Alice jumped forward and hugged him.
She cried.
Without saying anything, Will wiped the young Lightbringer's tears.
"It's okay, now."
"Oh Will... I was so scared ! You don't know how much I suffered here... Look at what happened to my face !"
"Yeah, it's horrible. But don't worry. Now I'm here, and I will protect you. Like I always did, in the past."
"Yeah. Remember that time, when we were younger, where you beat a bunch of thugs who were trying to steal my things ? They were what, five ? You were so cool !"
Will's frowned.
"No, I don't remember this one."
Alice made a fake smile.
She just lied. The event she described never happened.
"Well, it's not that important. Especially compared to... that day."
"Yeah... that day was... a once-in-a-lifetime kind of day."
Silence.
"I'm so glad to see, you Will."
"Me too, sis. Me too."
When Alice understood that she wasn't on Earth, she thought that she would never see her brother again. But she was wrong, apparently.
Unless...
"Will, can you do something for me ? To be sure it's really you."
"What ? You think I'm... not me ?"
Will was clearly taken aback by what his sister was saying.
"It's just to be sure. Please..."
Alice was begging Will. He could do nothing but accept. If he didn't, Alice would be even more suspicious than she already was.
"Ok. What do you want me to do ?"
"Say to me. Say to me something only Will could know."
Alice's brother sat on the nothingness around him, and, in the limitless space, Alice did the same thing.
"I'm going to begin the story."
"You can start when you want to."
"It was a rainy night. At the end of winter. Mom wasn't home. As for me, I almost got caught by police while beating the crap out of some random kid, so I got home earlier than normal. Then, I found you crying in your bed. You were about to... about to kill yourself."
"How ?"
"With mom's kitchen knife. I prevented you from ending your own life, but you were still crying. You were still broken."
"Why was I broken ?"
"I don't know the specifics, but I'm sure it's because of mom."
"Yeah."
"So, I took my time to help you recover from that state, and then... end of the story, I guess ? This is definitly not something I would have known if I wasn't Will."
"What did I ask ?"
" ? "
"After you prevented me from doing... that. What did I ask you ?"
Will took a somber tone.
"You asked me... to kill someone."
"Who ?"
"Mother."
"What were my exacts words ?"
Will looked up, as if the answer was here. But there was nothing. Just void.
"Your exact words were: Will, you have to choose. It's either me, or her. Kill her, please. I beg you."
During almost a minutes, no words was said. Nobody moved. The two siblings just looked at each other in the eyes.
Will's story was right... from his point of view.
The truth was that Alice, back then, wasn't really despaired enough to kill herself. She just threw this tantrum back then to make Will kill her mother, because she wasn't confident enough to do it herself.
The thing was, Alice never expected that to work. She thought that Will would never go that far.
But he did.
Will... he was a psycho, right ?
"So... do you believe me when I say that I'm Will, now ?"
"You did get every questions right."
Alice and Will got up.
"Is that a yes ?" asked the Lightbringer's brother.
"Hell no."
Suddenly, in a swift motion, Alice used her dagger.
All she needed was a second. And that second, she had it.
She struck her half-brother without a shred of hesitation.
Flash of steel, trail of red blood.
Will stumbled, his eyes wide open.
There was blood everywhere in the void around them, and a lot of it was on Alice's right hand.
Will's heart had been pierced.
Alice could almost feel Killer's shock.
"...Why ?" whispered Will.
Alice sighed.
Now, she wasn't faking her facial expression. Now, she could be herself. She could be Alice.
The true Alice.
Not that crying miserable little sister role she always used around her brother.
"Don't take me for a fool. I know you're not Will."
"What... what gave me away ?"
Alice made a genuine smile.
"Nothing. I'm just way too paranoid to believe you, that's all there is to it."
