It seemed like her voice was coming from a faraway place. Stephan's eyes were closed and he was so weak even to keep his eyes open. He struggled to open them but his fatigue kept him under. He could hear Zuri giving our orders for his maids to bring this and that and his lips twitched in a smile.
Was he dreaming? What was she asking them to bring? Her voice alone brought some sorry of relaxation and happiness to his soul and he was frustrated that he couldn't speak with her or even hold her hands.
Underneath his lids, his eyes moved from side to side, in search of Zuri but all he could see was darkness at each corner of his eyelids. It was horrifying. The pain in his chest made him scared but Stephan gritted his teeth and balled his fist – he was not going to focus on the aches his body carried.
'Zuri…' her name sounded in his subconscious as if there was someone humming it over and over in his mind.
